Weekend of peace

1144 Words
Daisy On my way home I've bought fresh carrots for myself and for Max & Caroline. I've also stopped at an Asian market and bought a few necessities for cooking an amazing fried pasta with chicken and teriyaki sauce. I've swallowed hungrily looking at the ingredients for my comfort food. Since the bags became heavy, I've opted for the subway and arrived home pretty late. I was already woth my apron on when someone started to hit my door impatiently. - Coming! - Oh for the love of God what else could happen? I thought and opened the door with a heavy heart. I just wanted to eat and watch anime peacefully with the girls... As the door opened Sonia flew in hugging me and crying. - AY! Gracias a Dios! You are fine! - she said sobbing and started to apologize for not paying enough attention to me back at the club. I grabbed her wrists and hung my head down. - Sonia... You made something even worse than that. Something that has impact on my whole future and I cannot change it. - I glanced up at her and I saw Sonia shiver. Yeah that's it, the creepy, crazy lady smirk. That kind that make you question your life choices. Thanks grandma for teaching me and I'm sorry grandpa that you had to endure it! - What are you talking about Daisy? - she asked without looking into my eyes. I sighed and explained her briefly what happened. Sonia just stated at me and suddenly she picked up her phone. After a couple of second she threw her phone to the coffee table and grabbed my apron pulling me closer to the screen. - IS THAT HIM?! - she asked pointing at a picture of Marcus. I remembered when it was taken, last year after he got and award for his contribution to the community. - Yepp, that's my boss and supposedly fiance for you. - You are welcome Daisy. - Sorry! What?! Welcome?!- Sonia released me and nodded seriously. - Do you have eyes girl?! He is a hottie! I mean for my taste a bit too serious, you know I prefer gloomy but soft boys. Yours look like it was craved out of marble. A beautiful, exquisite marble by a talented sculpture. - I buried my face in my hands. - I know he looks good. I've had a crush on him since I met him when we were younger. But Sonia, don't be deceived by his appearances, he is a mischievous, blackmailing, cold man. - How can you talk like that of your future hubby? - she asked and that was the last straw. - Fine, I have to just go with the flow I suppose. Do you want some lunch and we can watch a movie after. - Sounds good! - I walked to the kitchen brought another apron and threw on Sonia's head while she was scrolling down on her i********:. - Acho! What's up? - she asked looking at me with a knife in my hand. - Come cara mia and make yourself useful! - Sonia scoffed, put the apron on and came to help me with the lunch while she mumbled. - Other country! - I chuckled at her comment and shrugged. - Sorry, they sometimes gets mixed up! - we were peeling the carrots together and gave the first few stripes to the fur babies. They munched on their carrots happily on the sofa watching us while we cooked. - I still can't comprehend how you are able to talk eight languages. It was difficult enough for me to learn English. - I've started to heat the water for the noodles while Sonia chopped the chicken. - I wanted to be useful and after a few, I've got the grip of it. - Remind me, lowly peasant, which ones do you speak exactly? - English and Japanese obviously, I've learned Italian, Spanish, Russian, Irish, Korean and Chinese. - Sonia started to laugh. - Basically you've learned the languages of the countries where the organized crimes are the most famous! - I've never thought about it that way. I merely learned each language Marcus had contact with, just in case. Soon our lunch was ready and we scooped a big bowl of the steamy noodles for ourselves. I grabbed mint ice tea for us and closed the girls back to their cage. They both yawned and went to sleep after filling their tummies with carrots. - What should we watch? - I've asked and Sonia shrugged. - Something funny and romantic that makes your mind at ease. - What about 27 dresses? - Approved! - we quickly downloaded the movie and watched cozied up together on my sofa after lunch. I don't know when but we have fallen asleep. The sun was already down so I offered for Sonia to stay for the night. She agreed and I went to make the bed for us, when someone knocked on the door. - Could you please check who is it?- I've shouted to Sonia from inside of the closet. - Got it! - I heard her stomping to the door and after a few minutes she shouted back. - Daisy, do you have two husbands now? - WHAT?! - I asked and hit my head in one of the shelves. I've hurried to the door only to meet Max. - Good evening Max!- I said and he nodded. - Come out for a moment. - he said and walked out, Sonia peaked after us curiously and I could tell that she had her ear against the door to eavesdrop. On the corridor Max turned to me and said in a low voice. - I know everything. - I tilted my head. Congrats Sherlock! I wouldn't even dream about it that Marcus told you what happened! Who are you anyway? Only his best friend and right hand! - That's good. Is that all? - I've asked and he hit the wall next to my head. - If you dare to bring danger to Marcus's head, I'll personally make sure that no one ever finds you. - I've chuckled and Max looked at me with a disgusted expression on his handsome face. - What would you do? Prepare a new identity for me and send me back to my Grandparents? - he looked utterly confused. - I'm not planning to cause any trouble, but I'd like to remind you this wasn't my suggestion. Marcus decided and blackmailed me. I'm the victim here! Show some compassion! Now that this is settled, come in, I have lots of food and I'm sure you haven't eaten yet properly today. - I don't need it. - he said and I grabbed his wrist. - Well, that wasn't a suggestion either. Come in!
