It's been a week since I got into it with Aaron. He still hasn't given me the money that was left for me to get a car but that's ok. I will get it from the lawyer when I go in for my meeting with him. A little over a week and I will be free from my controlling brother. I will be free to do as I please and be with Caeleb without having to worry about Aaron firing Caeleb because of me. After I got dressed I headed into the kitchen to make myself something to eat before going to work and Jenna was sitting at the table.
"Good morning, Jenna."
"Morning, Skyla."
"You ok, Jenna?"
"Yeah, I'm okay just arguing with your brother again."
"Let me guess. You two were arguing about me?"
"Yeah. It was about you getting a car. I don't understand why he is being so pig-headed. He feels like if you get a car you are going to stay gone and he won't be able to keep an eye on you."
"Keep an eye on what? Me going to work and coming home? I don't have friends and the only friend I had, I can't talk to thanks to my brother. All I do is walk around town. I need to clear my head sometimes and I just walk around and think about the good times I had when my parents were still alive."
"I know it isn't fair to you, Skyla. I have been trying to get him to let go of the leash he has you on so you could have some freedom but he is stubborn and I don't know why is he being like this."
"I do. It is because he is a pig who thinks just because he is a man he has the right to try and control me. He does it to you as well, Jenna. I don't understand how you can stay here with him and let him treat you like that.”
“You are right. You don’t understand why I stay here. I stay because I love him and because I can’t go back home. I have no one besides the two of you now. My family kicked me out and cut me off because of my partying and because of my choosing to follow my heart and be with the man I love. Hell, I don’t have a home to go back to even if I begged them. My parents moved and I have no clue where they moved to.”
“They really kicked you out because of you loving my brother?”
“Yes. My parents are strict and they have it in their heads that I’m supposed to marry a man like my father.”
“Damn. My parents were free spirits and that is how they raised us. We had choices but we also had consequences for the bad ones.”
“I’d probably be out on the street and on d*ugs if I didn’t have the two of you.”
“Jenna, I’m sorry you lost your family because of falling for my brother.”
“No need to be sorry, Skyla. My family is you and Aaron.”
"I like having someone to talk to now. You treat me more like a sibling than Aaron does."
"Skyla, he is stubborn but he does love you."
"Being stubborn doesn't give him the right to treat me the way he does, Jenna. I am not a child and he still treats me as if I am 6."
"I know and I am trying to work with him on that."
After Jenna and I finished breakfast and our talk, I went to work. Caeleb wasn't there yet so I went ahead and got started on what I needed to do. A few minutes later Caeleb ran up to me and apologized for being late. I asked if he was okay and he nodded. We got everything we needed to do done before the others finished their work right before lunch and Caeleb asked me to join him on the back of his truck to eat. I asked him if he was sure about me eating with him with everyone watching and he said he was. He told me he didn't care if they saw us eating together. We were out in the open and we were at work and as far as they know we were just friends eating lunch together. He was right. We were at work and as far as everyone knew, we were just work friends. I hopped up on the back of his truck and He handed me a sandwich. We sat here and talked while we ate and no one paid us any attention. After lunch, we got back to work and at the end of the work day, Caeleb told me he'd text me after he got back to his room and showered.
