CHAPTER FOUR

1761 Words
When Sierra was sure she was far enough, she transformed back into her wolf form, though she didn't have that much energy left. The vengeance she had in her heart was her new drive. She swore she would do whatever it took to avenge her dead pack. She spotted some wolf berries and gobbled them up greedily. They barely did anything to sate her hunger. It dawned on her she would have to hunt in order to survive. Without the safety of the pack, for lone wolves in the wild it was hunt or be hunted. She walked slowly heading for the hillsides. She needed to get somewhere to live in the meantime. Then she would go hunt for a meal. The sharp sound of metal clanging suddenly pierced the air, sending birds flying away. The smell of blood followed right after. Delicious rabbit blood. Immediately her eyes glazed over. The wolf in her had taken full control. Carefully, with her nose in the air she followed the scent of blood knowing that if she didn't act soon enough another predator would grab it. As she neared, she dawa the rabbit's foot had gotten caught in the trap. The minute it saw her it started struggling thrashing around violently. Sierra looked around carefully all her senses alert. She vaguely registered that the trap was probably a hunter's and intended for her but at that exact moment, she didn't care. All she wanted was the rabbit. Suddenly, she dashed forward grabbing it by the neck and pulled it roughly from the trap. It's leg got stuck in the trap but she remained with the bigger share. Satisfied for the little effortless victory she run away with her prey, took camp in a nearby tree and devoured it. Slowly by slowly, whether Sierra realized it or not, she was losing her human side. Soon, she'd completely forget about herself and her purpose and will truly become an animal. A rogue lone wolf. Fully satisfied with her little prey, she chew on its bones relaxing. Nothing beat the feeling of a full stomach. She got up, circled the tree, urinated on the bark marking her territory then she settled down for a short nap. ×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××× "Sierra, wake up," I slowly opened my eyes. Hyde was staring down at me smiling. "I finally transformed, you wouldn't believe the size of my wolf!" he looked so proud of himself. I was so happy for him. He was so nervous that he hadn't transformed yet despite being the alpha's son. "I told you you'd transform in no time!" I quickly got up and run after him to see his wolf. The moment we stepped outside I found myself in the training grounds, I looked around confused. "Always be prepared. You're always a target." Hyde told me seriously standing right in front of me. Huh? When had he become so big? All grown up. I nodded my head confused at wgat was happening. Suddenly, my world turned and I was standing in front of a pile of dead bodies, my pack. My hands flew to my mouth. "Avenge us." Seth! I jolted awake startled. It was a dream. I looked down. I was still in my wolf form. Why were my paws so bloody? My mouth had the sharp taste of blood. What had I done?! Without a second thought I transformed back to my human form. It was clear. I'd lost it. "f**k!" I shouted out loud so mad at myself. How could I let this happen to me? I punched the tree frustrated. I punched it again. Why! I punched it again. Why! I punched it again. How? I had a twig snapping and I looked up. I met a pair of pitch black eyes stating right at me. I froze. It hadn't made a wolf, from what I could make out this wolf seemed bigger than the average wolf size. Which I sway bigger than mine. If I decided to run could I really outrun it? My heart was pounding loudly. It could probably smell my fear. Just as suddenly as it appeared, it turned around and left. Why? Would it come back? Was I really safe here? I strained my ears to try and catch a suspicious sound. Nothing. Why didn't it attack? Maybe it was a chivalrous wolf. I tried telling myself. I looked up at the sky. It wouldn't be daylight for long. I needed to get moving before all the creatures of the night started moving about. I was about to start transforming when I caught myself. What if I lost myself again? I could lose myself for good this time. I couldn't risk it. Not now. Seems like Hyde was still looking out for me even from the afterlife. I smiled sadly then started walking in the direction of the hillsides. I had to keep hiding myself behind the trees at the slightest movement. My feet were getting cut and pickled by the stoned and branches around and healing, getting injured and healing. Every time it would heal a bit slower. And every time it would be a bit more painful. This was punishment on my part for what I'd done. It wasn't wrong admittedly, but still. I'd lost to my animal side. I needed to work on that. I told myself with that resolve in my heart. "I won't lose myself again. If I can make it through this ordeal and make it to the hillsides safely, I will start training my mind, body and soul." I said out loud dashing from tree to tree. "I will avenge you." As I kept on running from tree to tree, I could feel a presence following me. At first I thought it was paranoia, but I was definitely sure of it now. Cautiously, I looked behind, there was nothing, or no one. The image of the trap came to me. Was a hunter following me? Were they really that swift? I was beginning oo get nervous. I'd heard about them in the pack, but no one had ever been attacked from our pack. So I didn't really know that much about them. Not enough to be able to attack them or fend them off. Please don't let it be a hunter. I didn't know enough about them. But would I rather it be a wolf? I stopped. Who would I prefer as an enemy? The presence had disappeared, but I was still cautious. I looked around. Maybe they knew I knew they were following me. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my surroundings with my other senses. Before I knew what was happening I was tackled, hard to the ground. I fell hard, my head barely missing a nearby rock. I lokked around alert and dazzled as I got onto all fours. It would be hard fighting naked but I didn't have time to transform. I was too vulnerable. Run! A voice echoed in my head. Without a second thought, that is exactly what I did. I ran. The adrenaline was pumping through my veins. I heard a low menacing growl followed by a bark. And it sounded much closer than I thought it would be. Was it the wolf from earlier? With the blood rushing through my veins I figured it would be faster to run as a wolf. I'd never heard of anyone transforming while on the move, but I was desperate. And ready to try just about anything to come out of this alive. I stumbled causing the wolf to gain momentum with me. I tried to focus, "put aside your fear. Imagine the wolf. Become the wolf." A sroot caught my foot tripping me but this time I landed on all fours. Momentarily relieved, I pushed myself harder. Before I knew it, I'd made it out of the forest! Alive! I took a risk and glanced back. My attacker was nowhere to be seen yes! I jumped around happily my chest still pounding. I can't believe I'd made it out alive! I was much closer to the hillsides now. I could smell the water as I belatedly realised how thirsty I actually was. I walked on slowly by slowly until I actually begun to hear the stream. Just the sound of the water flowing rejuvenated me. I picked up my speed until I actually reached the banks. I lapped at it happily enjoying the cool feeling of the cool water on my parched self. Once I'd quenched my thirst I looked around to make sure no one was watching them jumped in enjoying the feeling of the water soaking in my fur. I got out of the water shook myself dry, feeling so good and momentarily forgetting all my worries. I transformed back into my human form, wincing slightly as my bones morphed. I got into the water, scrubbed myself clean then begun swimming up and down enjoying the feel of the water on my now fresh body. "Sweet loves." A woman's voice suddenly sounded abruptly pulling me from my blissful state. I was immediately on guard. "You can't possibly run now, can you?" She continued with a smirk on her face. She was the wolf chasing me?! I noticed how she was so comfortable being nude and despite the state I was in I couldn't help but stare. She walked confidently her head held high. She had long black hair that fell at her waist. She didn't bother using it to cover herself. Which I always do. I found myself looking at her boobs then slowly going downwards before quickly blushing and looking away. "You're a shy one, aren't you?" there was a trace of humor in her voice but I couldn't be sure. "I could just kill you right now." without me noticing she was already right before me, towering oober me one hand already on my neck slowly squeezing. "Who are you?" The pressure from her hand increasing slowly restricting my air flow. "Speak little girlie!" She demanded lifting my body from the water. I was already choking by now, both my hands trying to loosen her grip. How was she even this strong?! I started scratching her hoping she would loosen her grip. "I'm loosing my patience." "Sierra-" I choked out, "Sierra.... Erylis."
