Anna’s P.O.V
I had a really peaceful and relaxing sleep, but morning came really fast and when I looked at the clock I knew I was going to be late if I didn’t get a move on. I jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom, took a quick shower, dried off and brushed my teeth before going back into the bedroom to find my bathing suit. I pulled out a bathing suit that really showed off my curves and quickly put it on, then grabbed a jumper and put it on over the top of my bathing suit. I ran a brush through my hair before pulling it up and putting it into a ponytail, so that it would be out of my face and wouldn't get in the way, I grabbed two long beach towels and my sandals. I ran downstairs and straight to the kitchen, taking a few bottles of water out of the ice box, just in case Toby forgot to bring any like last time and then left the house. I got into my car and started the engine up, making it roar as I drove off to get Toby’s house. After thirty minutes of driving down dirt roads, normal roads and taking a few bends a bit too sharp, I pulled up at his house, just as he came outside. As soon as Toby saw me he looked really confused and pulled his phone out, probably to check the messages we had sent each other to see if he had made a mistake.
“I thought I was coming to get you?” Toby asked, confused and I laughed.
“I knew you would take your time, so I came over to you. Now hurry your ass up and let's go.” I replied and he playfully saluted me as he ran back into the house. He came running back out a few seconds later with a cooler and a huge towel.
“So, what's in the cooler?” I asked, watching as he stuck it on the back seat of my car.
“Oh, there's a few sandwiches, fruit drinks and I even snuck some wine in too, so we can have a little drink.” Toby replied, winking and I shook my head.
“Toby, you're crazy, you know that.” I said and he nodded.
“Yep, I know.” Toby replied, turning the car stereo on as I pulled away. We listened to music all the way to the lake, singing along to the ones we knew and liked.
“So how come you wanted to come here today?” Toby asked.
“My grandfather's mate, Faith is due to give birth and I really don't want to be there to see what happens. So I’m hoping that it happens while I am out with you.” I replied and Toby made a weird face.
“I don't blame you, all that screaming, blood and goo. Sounds terrifying. I don't know how you women manage it.” Toby said, shuddering at the thought.
“Exactly, this is why I am keeping my legs closed. The pain must be terrible.” I replied and he started to laugh.
“What about when you meet your mate? The bond is really strong and I don't think you will be able to resist it for long.” Toby asked and I glared at him.
“I don't know what I will do, but I have spoken to my mom and dad about it.” I replied, vaguely skipping the other part of my decision and he nodded, but looked like he knew that I was hiding something. Toby was a romantic at heart and couldn't wait to meet his mate, I didn't want to burst his bubble by telling him that I didn't want one yet. When we finally got to the lake we were the only ones there because thankfully no one else knew about this spot. We got out of the car and while Toby grabbed the cooler and towels, I grabbed the blanket from the trunk and the bottles of water, putting them into the cooler as well. We headed to our spot and dropped everything on the ground. Toby laid the blanket down while I took off my jumper and his mouth dropped open when he saw me.
“Anna, I swear girl. You fine, baby be mine….” Toby said and we both busted out laughing.
“Toby, you are nuts. Where did you hear that from?” I asked and he looked deep in thought, like he was trying to remember. Toby was always coming out with strange sayings like that and he normally got it off some film or TV show he was watching at the time, so it could take him a while to remember which one.
“In school.” Toby replied and I gave him a strange look.
“A human girl came up to me and said it.” Toby said, going into further detail. It had to be the cringiest thing I have ever heard.
“What did you say after she said that to you?” I asked and he blushed.
“I didn't know what to say, so I just walked off. She caught me completely off guard and I panicked.” Toby replied and I shook my head. I ran towards the lake and dived in head first. The water was really cold and I didnt want the cold to ruin our day out, so I waved my hand under the water, knowing that no one would be able to see what I was about to do. I waved my hand around and curled my fingers, concentrating and making the water heat up to a comfortable level. Toby dived into the water as soon as I had finished and swam under the water, coming up behind me and dunking my head underneath. I came up underneath him and picked him up on my shoulders, making him fall backwards with a huge splash. He came back to the surface coughing and spluttering as he didnt expect me to do that and proceeded to splash me with water, drowning me with wave after wave.
