Anna’s P.O.V
After swimming a few laps back and forth, playing, splashing and racing each other we finally got out of the water and went back up to the blanket. We grabbed our towels and wrapped them around ourselves then sat down on the blanket, getting comfy. Toby grabbed the cooler, taking the sandwiches and water out, handing me mine and we started to eat in comfortable silence. After we had finished eating Toby then took out the wine and poured some in two glasses, handing me one.
“Here's to our friendship, may it always last.” Toby said, clinking our glasses together and then sipping on them. A few hours later and the wine was all gone, but it would take a lot more than that to get a werewolf and a werebear drunk, it would take a lot more than that to even get us tipsy, but it was still nice. Toby and I sat there watching as the sun finally set and it looked beautiful, all the reds, yellows and oranges mixed together, giving off a soft warm glow. We started to pack everything away and I grabbed my jumper, putting it back on and going back to the car. We got in and I drove back to Toby’s first, dropping him off before heading back home, where I could only hope that Faith had already had the baby. I had a blast today and I was so thankful to have a friend like Toby, I really hoped he would find his mate, but no matter how much I thought about who it could be I knew that no matter who they were no she-bear or she-wolf would ever be good enough for my best friend, I thought to myself. When I finally pulled up to the pack house, my mother came out of the house and straight to my car.
“Your grandmother had her baby just an hour ago, so try to be quiet when you go inside, she's worn out.” My mom whispered and I was glad that I missed the birth, but I was excited to see the new baby. I left everything inside the car and quietly ran into the house to see my grandmother and the new baby. When I got to their room I softly knocked on the door and then walked inside. I saw my grandfather sitting on the bed next to Faith and she was feeding the baby. Faith looked up at me smiling as I sat down on the bed next to her. This is the reason I didn't want to have a mate just yet because they will want to mate and have pups straight away and I wasn't ready for that, I shivered at the thought, but thankfully no one saw it. I looked down at the baby just as Faith did the same.
“I named her Angel and Anna, you don't have to hurry to find your mate, but when you do, you don't have to have pups straight away. You do you first, honey.” Faith whispered and I nodded.
“Yes, grandma.” I said, kissing her on the cheek and then kissing baby Angel, then left them to rest. I wonder how Faith knew how I felt about the mate and having pups thing? I shrugged it off and just went upstairs, heading to my room, deciding it best not to ask because that would lead to a whole other conversation and they now had enough on their plate with a newborn baby. I was thinking about next week and how it was going to be really busy for me, it was the last week of school before I was out for the summer and my birthday, meaning my first shift. I ran down the hall to my room and shut the door behind me as I walked in, there were still a few things I wanted to get done before going to bed. I wanted to check on a few colleges and see what they were like. I turned on my laptop and started browsing through the colleges, applying for the one that was closest to my home, so I could still come home for the holidays and also come home to wash my clothes and visit. I was due to graduate soon and I wanted to make sure all my plans were in order before I did so. I looked at a few more before my eyes grew tired, so I turned my laptop off and closed it up, lying down on my bed. Today was a really fun day, but I was also exhausted. I could hear my wolf Lizzy in my head and for some reason she was whimpering, which made me sigh.
“What is it Lizzy? Are you okay?” I asked, knowing full well what this was about.
“Just like you are preparing for college and everything to come, so am I. next week will be your first shift and I know you are worried about it, you can't lie to me.” Lizzy said and she was right. She was the only person I could never lie to, no matter how much I had tried, she always knew and could feel everything that I was feeling.
“Yes, I know it's my first shift and yes, I admit I am scared, but there is nothing that's going to change that. Now, can I go to sleep, I have school tomorrow?” I replied and she huffed.
“There is, if it gets too painful for you, I want you to let me know, let me come forward and I will take over. This isn't the same as when your mother first shifted, she was born a human, you werent.” Lizzy said, calming my nerves down a bit. She always had this uncanny way of calming me down and comforting me, when I was feeling sad or anxious, the only time she couldn't calm me down was when I was angry, but then again she was just as angry as me.
“Alright, will do. Now let me sleep and we will worry about my first shift thursday, okay Lizzy. Now get some sleep.” I said, but she started laughing.
“What's so funny?” I asked, getting frustrated.
“Are you seriously going to sleep in your bathing suit and jumper?” Lizzy replied and when I looked down I realised I had not changed. I sighed and got back off the bed, taking off my jumper and swim suit and putting my night clothes on. I got back into bed and pulled the blankets back over me as I finally relaxed without any interruptions.
Unknown P.O.V
“We need to find someone to hunt down. Go to the packs, observe everything and see who you can find. I want someone that will give us a run for our money. Business is going to pick up soon and we need a strong runner. I want to have the hunt up and going in two weeks, so we need to find someone before the two weeks are up.” I said.
“But sir, where can we find such a person, human, wolf, bear or werecat? The werecats are on guard now and they will kill us on sight. The last werebear we hunted none of us can find, he went missing and is probably dead by now. Humans aren't much of a good sport to hunt, can we do a wolf?” My colleague asked and it sounded like a great idea.
“Yeah, let's try to find a she-wolf. I love it when a female begs for her life and maybe when we get done hunting her we can have a bit of fun with her before we kill her. She will be begging for us to kill her by the time we are done with her.” I replied, smirking at the thought.
