Kaylie's POV
I stare at Inggrid's lifeless body, feeling a whirlwind of confusion and concern swirling within me. Who exactly is this woman? She claims to be the omega I once rescued during Blake's terrible tragedy—the one where he snatched omegas to use as baby-making machines for his twisted army. It's a tragedy that ultimately brought me to Lucas.
My first encounter with Lucas goes back to when I assisted Leah, heavily pregnant with Adam at the time. Leah was gravely injured, and it fell upon me to deliver Adam into this world. Sadly, Leah didn't make it. From that moment, Adam seemed drawn to me, clinging to me, unwilling to let go. Since then, I've taken on the role of caring for Adam, and I've become Lucas's second mate.
As time went by, our connection deepened. I stood by Lucas's side during his darkest hours, offering him support and being his rock. We found comfort in each other's company, and our love for one another grew stronger with each passing day. Despite the mess that brought us together, we found real happiness with each other.
A year ago, we took the leap and tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony filled with love and joy. Now, as I carry our unborn child and fulfill my role as Luna of the Blue Sapphire Pack, I'm also on a mission to support Lucas as he goes for the Alpha King title—a big event that's happening in six months. But now, Inggrid has dropped a bombshell with her warning about some disaster heading our way. There's big trouble brewing for our pack, designed by Alpha Alex, who is also gunning for the Alpha King title along with Blake's mother, a powerful witch. It's clear she's out for payback over what happened to her son —I killed him with my own hand."
"Kaylie... What happened?" Lucas interrupts my thoughts, snapping me back to reality. I immediately check Inggrid's neck for a pulse, but there's nothing. I try to revive her by pumping her chest, hoping to restart her heart. But after a minute, two minutes, three minutes pass, she remains unconscious.
"Inggrid, wake up. Finish what you were trying to tell me. If you want to help me, you need to wake up and explain what you meant," I urge, pressing down harder on her chest.
"Come on, Inggrid. What did you mean by a big disaster? Why do I need to find a stronger witch than Blake's mom? What do you mean?" I cry out in desperation. Tears blur my vision as I desperately plead with Inggrid, clinging to a sliver of hope that she'll somehow pull through.
"Please, Inggrid, you have to wake up. I need you to tell me more. You came all this way to warn me, to tell me. You can't leave me now," I implore, my voice trembling with emotion.
Frantic thoughts race through my mind as I try to make sense of the situation. I can't lose Inggrid—not now, not after everything she's risked to come to me. Images of her lying lifeless flash before my eyes, and a surge of determination propels me forward.
Gripping her hand tightly, I continue to pump her chest, willing her heart to beat once more.
"You're not giving up on me, Inggrid. I won't let you," I whisper, my voice choked with emotion. Every fiber of my being is focused on saving her, on finding out the truth behind her cryptic warning.
Minutes stretch into eternity as I refuse to relent, my hands moving rhythmically in a desperate attempt to revive her.
"Please, Inggrid, you have to fight. You can't leav now ," I plead, my voice cracking with emotion.
Deep down, I know that her survival is crucial, that her words hold the key to unlocking the mystery but Inggrid remains motionless.
Lucas, holding Adam, whispers softly,
"She's gone, Kaylie."
I collapse to the floor, watching Inggrid's frail body lying motionless.
"What happened to you, Inggrid?" A big question mark looms in my mind.
" You are so young, how can you die? What happened to you " I whisper desperately.
Suddenly, black blood starts flowing from Inggrid's ears, nose, and eyes.
"What's happening?" I ask Lucas in confusion.
How can black blood come from a deceased person's body?
Lucas shakes his head. The doctors come out from the hall, also all the professors gather around us.
"This is impossible. Usually, people don't bleed black blood after death. Blood might come out when someone is close to death, but once the heart stops, blood shouldn't flow anymore," Professor Ligman explains.
"So why is this blood still coming out?" one doctor asks, puzzled.
"Alright, everyone, step back. To clarify, let's perform an autopsy on this woman. Kaylie, do you agree? Since she came all the way here looking for you, it seems you know her," Prof. Ligman suggests.
I glance at Lucas for his opinion, and he communicates with me through our mind link,
"Don't agree to the autopsy here at Prestige Hospital. They're all humans; they don't understand the lives of supernatural beings like us. Tell them we'll conduct the autopsy ourselves at our hospital. I've already mind-linked Adrien to prepare for it. Let's head back to Blue Sapphire Pack now."
I nod in agreement. Seeing my nod, Prof. Ligman assumes it's a yes.
"Great... Since you agree to the autopsy."
"No, Prof," I interrupt him. "I don't agree to the autopsy here. We'll take her back to Lucas's Blue Sapphire Hospital. The autopsy will be conducted there because Inggrid was an acquaintance who worked for me. She'll be our responsibility."
"Very well, if that's your wish. Please proceed with the body," Prof. Ligman says, dispersing the crowd surrounding me.
"Let's head back to Blue Sapphire Pack, Kaylie. The helicopter is ready to fly us back," Lucas says gently, helping me to my feet.
Accepting Lucas's hand, I whisper, "What did Inggrid mean about a big disaster in Blue Sapphire Pack? What disaster?"
The questions linger in my mind like dark clouds in an endless night
