Chapter 24

1433 Words
Nathan’s POV “We can’t take it anymore, Salvatore. I can only save the child and a single adult,” Sheri said. Her breathing is now rugged because of the excess usage of power.   “Save the world, travel through the past,” the child repeatedly chanted. Cashmere smiled at me and pats me on the back.   “Save the world, Salvatore. Save us all.” Cashmere went to Klio’s body and hugged her for the last time, before helping Ros and Sheri out.   “Go on, Sal. We’re counting on you,” he said before the two of them disappeared.   “Just like what Klio said, I’m lucky to meet you, hunters,” Cashmere exclaimed. He smiled sadly at the crying Sheri and nods at her. Ros is already getting weak, but still managed to smile at them.   “See you on the other side,” were the last words they said before the debris fall and crushed their body.   “Don’t be lost... We still need you, Sal.”   I slowly opened my eyes and blink as the surroundings and the music became a bit clear.   ‘I fell asleep...’ I said to myself and close my eyes shut as I tried recalling the dream I had a while ago.       ‘I missed them...’ I took a deep breath while calming myself. I feel my eyes starting to swell so I had to close it shut to prevent myself from tearing up. Even if I had encounter them on my new first day in the academy, everything is different and that is because I am not Salvatore in their eyes but a new student who has rare powers too. They knew me as Nathaniel Rosario who knocked off a bully in just a single touch and not Sal who they feared and admired the most because of my almost unlimited powers and abilities before.   My eyes slowly widen as I felt my stomach churning up. I hurriedly went to the bathroom and pass through the servers who are offering me their wine and dessert. They keep on insisting that I had to grab another piece or another shot even though my face screams that I’m about to throw up.   As soon as I reached for the bowl, I immediately gagged and puked everything out. I tightly closed my eyes shut as I felt the hot, disgusting taste fills my tongue and also nostrils. I feel like releasing all the food I had ate since this morning and that s**t is not a good feeling.   Once done, I went to the sink and remove my gloves to watch my face and clean my mouth. If only I had a toothbrush I would rub it to my tongue until this disgusting taste fade.   “I won’t drink anymore,” I blurted out loud while wiping my face with the paper towel on the side. I heard the opening of doors and the footsteps of someone approaching my direction. I took a glimpse of him and saw that his eyes are focus on my arms. His gaze slowly went up and that’s when I met his brown orbs. Everything is almost normal except for the fact that his hazy eye shows that he is a bit drunk.   “Which country are you from?” He asked without breaking eye contact. I gently put the wipe down and threw it at the bin before looking back at him and answer his question.   “I’m from Seattle, Washington State. Why?” I curiously eyed him as I saw him froze in his position while gazing back at the Apple watch I was wearing.   “I-I’m from the same state but... I had never seen this kind of watch before.” He shook his head and chuckled a bit before turning his back on me.   “I’m sorry if I look like a creep to you. Maybe you’re just rich enough to buy something that I can’t.” The door is already opened when he stopped and faced me one more time and smiled. “Besides, it’s 2012 The technology is quite improving. I won’t be shocked if one day technology will have the most impact on our lives,” he chuckled again and waves his hand on me before leaving the premises while I was here, left dumbfounded because of what he says.   “2012?” I blurted out in disbelief. I closed my eyes and tried to remember what the man was wearing or some old marks that will prove that he is a real oldie and not pranking on me. Nothing seems unusual though; he wears a suite and tie, polished shoes and hair and also the black rimmed specs that matched his face.   Everything seems normal but the hard beating on my chest speaks otherwise. I hurriedly went out of the bathroom and tried finding him. As soon as I got out, the lights starts flicking and plays a rock song that made the people from this area bump into each other while jumping and having the time of their lives.   “Damn,” I whispered as I tried hard to find him on the crowd of wild people with these blinking random lights. Everyone looked the same in my eyes as they were all wearing a suit and tie or glamorous dresses.   “Hi Sir, do you need more wine?” A server asked but I just waved my hand away. More and more servers come into my direction and offered me their drink and dessert, adding to the frustration that is building up in my chest.   “Hi Sir, you look tired, come on, our signature dessert will surely calm your nerves and make you feel lost in our paradise.”   I stopped for a moment when the final words I heard in my dream start ringing in my ear.   “Don’t be lost... We still need you, Sal.”   “Welcome to Los Paradise, the place where you will want to be lost, forever...”   I grabbed the server in front of me on his collar, making his tray full of drink and dessert fell off the ground.   “What did you say?!” I shouted in his face. The crowd went silent while watching us, especially when the server I was holding suddenly fainted and also fell to the ground. More and more people went to our direction as the music stop, leaving their murmurs filled the air.   Some of them grabbed their phones and that’s when I realized one thing...   They were holding phones from different era’s and by the shiny look on them, it sure looks new even though the old model was released way back in early 20’s.   “Holy...” I softly walked back as I saw a group of guards coming into my direction. I did not waste any second and ran away while they were catching me. I tried going back to the bathroom to get my gloves back but suddenly turned around when I saw security guarding that area.   “This is hell,” I blurted out and run again as soon as the guard points their finger at my direction.   As I pass through the people, I could see in their styles the reality. They are from different time frames and are really lost to this place.   Now I know the reason why Antonov drove here. It is not just to enjoy but also to uncover the mystery happening in this place and put a stop on it. This casino serves as a jail for people, when they come in no one will ever come back because they are now lost to the spell this place chanted.   I abruptly stopped running when I realize something. The music stops, the guards are chasing after me. The people stopped what they are doing and start acting like a robot while gazing at me with their void filled eyes.   They look so... lost. I get back to my senses and shook my head as I start to run, faster than before and away from everyone. I don’t know where I’m going but one thing is for sure.   I need to find Antonov and the rest of the gang before Los Paradise will really make us all lost, forever.
