Chapter 8

Sheritan’s POV   The sun is quite hot today due to summer fast approaching soon. I manipulate the wind to blew me a calm breeze while I was reading this new book I had found in the library.   ‘All About Minds.’   The title screams it all. I turned the book pages and stopped as I smiled a bit while reading the topic the pique my interest. The topic is all about shifting minds, the underlying disease and the possible treatment.   The first line states that there are many cases of shifting minds and the most common disorder for this is ‘Dissociative Identity Disorder.’   According to the book, ’It is a rare condition in which two or more distinct identities, or personality states, are present in—and alternately take control of—an individual. Some people describe this as an experience of possession. The person also experiences memory loss that is too extensive to be explained by ordinary forgetfulness.’   I sighed as every word describing it hits every single part of me. I smiled sadly while blankly staring at the open field where some students are busy in training their abilities.   “Two identities in one person,” I whispered to myself as I took a deep breath closed my eyes to relax.   “Look who’s here... The two faced freak of the hunters. I really wonder how you became one of them,’ someone snorted that made me open my eyes.   ‘Ah, here we go again,’ I mentally told myself and shook my head.   “Are you shifting to your other freak personality?” She taunted that made her friends around us laugh.   “Shut up, Ariella.” I said firmly before turning my back on them.   “Hey! Give it back!” I shouted when her friend Anais took it from my grip. I clenched my fist in anger as I saw her smirked while giving Ariella the book. She has this taunting look as she took a glance on the page I was reading that made them laugh in unison.   “Shifting minds, Dissociative Identity Disorder? Ha!” She sneered and examined me from head to toe. I tried so hard to keep my cool because I can already feel the wind going to separate directions. I saw those who trains on the field stopped as their attention turned to us.   “Shouldn’t you be enrolled in a mental institution rather than spreading your freakiness here?” She sarcastically said and threw the book at my face that gained reaction from students coming near our direction.   I felt a pang of pain as the spine of the two inch thick book hit directly on my face. I slowly touch my lips as I taste the warm, iron tasting liquid on my mouth. My hands went up to my nose and there it is... The source of the blood that is continuously dripping off.   “You deserve that, freak. You don’t even qualify to be one of the hunters. You probably just threatened them or seduce one of the guys.”   I heard murmurs and laughter around us as they took their phones out to record what was happening. I can feel my blood boiling especially on her last words. My fist formed into a ball as I clenched my teeth to prevent anything from happening.   ‘Not now, please...’   She definitely enjoys the attention as she crossed her arms while raising her eyebrows. I firmly wiped my nose using my closed hands before glaring at her.   “Stop... Or else...”   Instead of stopping, she slowly walks her way to my direction and circles her fingers on my hair. She pulled it a bit while staring at me directly in the eye.   “Or else what?” She bits her lip as she harshly pulls my hair toward her and made our foreheads close.   “You’re going to report me to the hunters? Who do you seduce among them?” She eyed me from head to toe before returning her stare at me.   “It is Salvatore? Or Roscoe or probably Cashmere? Ooh... Is he good in bed?” she whispers in my ear that made me red in anger.   “Shut up!” I shouted and pushed her back. My chest is moving rapidly as my breath becomes rigid. I felt all my blood rushing through my veins and the wind around us started to become harsher than before. The wind blew hard as the trees started to bend down.   I’m hearing voices from around us but they were all blurry as my gaze focused on Ariella on the ground with a pale face.   “I told you to shut up, didn’t I?” I said in a deep voice that stopped all the wind around us. She started breathing heavily while her hands are put on her chest. Her friends tried to help her but is later starts to kneel on the ground while gasping for air.   I felt my voice starting to deepen and my eyes become blurry as I felt her taking over my body.   “Nobody dares to disrespect Sheri or me for I will let you taste...   Itan’s fury.”   A smirked formed on my lips as I saw those who wronged Sheri crying while gasping for air. The students around us are also doing the same and creating inaudible sounds while trying to communicate with me. I raised my hands and the wind comes back and shoved on their lungs.   I smiled evilly as I saw them lying on the ground while panting. Some of the audience tried running away while the others didn’t bulge and kept their phones directed at me. I waved on them and face Ariella who looks like a dehydrated dog as her ugly tongue is showing from her stupid mouth.   In just a swift movement, I am already pulling down her hair to make her face me. I saw glimpse of anger on her eyes that fueled my energy and spit on her face.   “Gross!” She shouted while wiping it off using her hands, the way Sheri did a while ago.   “Serves you right, b***h. Now tell me...” I lowered a bit to level my face on her and whispered on her ear.   “Who is a two faced freak here? You look all so brave a while ago and then now...”   It’s now my turn to examine her from head to toe. I heard Sheri’s voice inside my head telling me to stop as she also feels the rage building up on our system.   “Y-You! Why don’t you tell everyone that you did nasty shits on the Evaluation day for the aspiring hunters?!” She managed to shout and looks at everyone. “I saw you talking to Salvatore and Cashmere on a room before you show-off! Everyone here knew that I’m way qualified than you! You slutty b***h!”    My face turned grim and kicked her hard on the face that sent her rolling down on the grass. I feel my blood boiling down to the core as my eyes turned intense blue. I raised my hand in the air and gathered all the wind from the environment to come and surround me.   “No one dares to mess up and speak bullshit about us!” I shouted and let the wind blew harder and keeps moving around our location. My mouth formed an evil smirk as I saw her eyes wide opened and stumbles while trying to run away from me.   “You all shall suffer the fury of my wrath!” My voice echoes from the place as a tornado is forming that made them lose their sanity.   All of the trees starts to uproot and joins my swirling force. Lots of objects are being magnate by my strong breeze that made me laugh evilly as I saw Arielle and her friends trying so hard to hold on to the grass while their body is floating from the ground.   Nobody dares to say nonsense to us. Sheri and I deserves where we are right now, as one of the hunters.   ‘Let’s see if you could still doubt about us after this,’ I said at the back of my mind and smirked.   ‘Stop it, Itan...’ Sheri pleaded from inside. I shook my head hysterically as she is trying to control our body, resulting to the tornado’s fluctuating strength.   “You’re the one who should stop, Sheri. You always cry and back out when those bitches are bullying you! You are not weak so why do you let them do that to you?!” I shouted while clenching my fists hard. She is trying so hard to stop me that the tornado already lost half of its strength.   There became an opening on the sides that made me stopped resisting when I saw who is on the other side, blankly staring at me.   ‘Sal?’ I whispered and shook my head again as a realization hit me.   Sal is no longer here... No longer here had to punish our ass whenever something gone wrong.   But those eyes... It may not be the same dark, menacing gray eyes but the intensity of his green orbs are piercing to my system the same way our leader could.   I’m breathing heavily as I felt my soul losing its grip on this body. I could already feel Sheri’s dominance once again and the tornado I had created already lost its power.   I took one final glance at the man standing beside Roscoe and smiled sadly.   “Who are you?” I silently asked before letting Sheri took over the body once again.
