CHAPTER 8: Fae Day “Clarry, Clarry. Hey, are you ok?” I opened my eyes to Lisa shaking me gently, with a concerned look on her face. “I’m fine, why what’s going on?” I stretched out and yawned, but it hurt like hell. “Ouch”. I mumbled. “You sure you ok? You have got bags under your eyes. What hurts?” Lisa asked concerned. “Ahh, everywhere. I’m so stiff. I feel like I’ve run a marathon. God, even my jaw hurts.” I pushed myself out of bed with a groan and headed for the bathroom while Lisa sat on my bed watching me. I turned the shower on and climbed under the powerful spray of water, letting it massage my body. I kept adjusting the temperature until the cold was completely off. I just couldn’t get it hot enough. “Hey, Lisa, did you use all the hot water?” I shouted through to the bedroom. Lisa came through the door in a panicked state. “No way, I haven’t even showered………….yet.” She stared at me in horror. “Clarry, how hot is your shower. You are blood red!” “But the water is barely warm!” I said in confusion while inspecting my blistering red skin like an alien. “Clarry look at all this steam” Lisa exclaimed while stretching her arm in the shower and under the flow of water. “Ahhhhh! Clarry that’s boiling hot! Turn it off, you are going to kill yourself!” Lisa bellowed frantically. I turned the water off and stared at her like she was mental. “Don’t give me that look. Wait, I’m going to call Edward and ask if this has anything to do with your newly found dragon flame. This is just crazy. I don’t even know how to deal with this, and I can deal with a lot. I need a shopping trip.” Lisa was going off while walking out the bathroom while I stood blistered and confused staring at the shower head as if it could give me answers. A few moments later Lisa returned looking like her usual chirpy self. “Ok, so Edward says put the cold water on and stay under it for a while to stop the blistering, and then you need to go and shift into your dragon so she can heal you, and in future try not to burn yourself. He also said something about a fire breather, but, I am starving so I wasn’t really paying attention. Come now hurry up. I need to shower as well so we can go eat. Oh, yes, and he says you will feel stiff after your first shift. It’s a lot for your tiny body to go through.” Lisa rambled on and then left me to freeze myself under cold water while she chose her outfit for the day. I stayed under the freezing spray until I thought my shivering might actually shatter my teeth. I jumped out the shower and wrapped myself in a towel and went to find some clothes. I chose a pair of jeans and a long sleeve, vee neck, snug fit, shirt. I quickly changed while Lisa showered. Down at the pack dining area I ate more than Lisa. I stopped eating because I knew that it was not humanely possible to eat anymore. I just didn’t feel full. I had eaten more than I had seen those crazy people on the internet eat and honestly I had no clue where my body was holding it all. After breakfast I shot upstairs to change into a loose fitting summer dress that I could take off and put on quickly and with ease. I wasn’t shredding any more clothing by shifting. Lisa went with me to an open field to shift and heal. The feeling was just as amazing as yesterday. I loved when Cleo took the reins. However, the feeling was short lived because I had to get to my next lesson. It was Fae day, and I was running late. I ran into the packhouse, down the corridor and back out the other side. Alpha John was and the person I assume would be today’s tutor, were sitting comfortably at the garden table with Mocktails in hand and having a good laugh when I ran out the door. “Good morning Alpha, I’m so sorry I’m late. I had to shift to heal my burns. Apparently I can’t feel heat anymore.” I explained.” “Good morning Clarry. No need to apologize. Edward already told me what happened. You will get used to it and you still have so much to learn. You are learning the basics in four days. This all usually takes a while for everyone else to only learn one ability. However, from the feedback I have received over the past two days, you catch on fast and you are a natural. I am ecstatic that I will be able to call you my daughter in law. I couldn’t be more proud.” “Thank you alpha.” “Please, Clarry, call me John. We are family now.” My heart melted at the thought of actually having a family. I had stopped dreaming about that many years ago and lost the hope of ever having one. I didn’t know what to say really, so I just smiled at him. “Clarry this is Belle. She is going to guide you with your Fae spirit today. I have to say this one truly has me quite excited. I can’t wait to see what your element is. This is a learning curb for all of us as nobody actually knows what abilities you have. We only know what we have heard via rumours and folk lore.” Alpha John was grinning and had a twinkle in his eye that told me he was quite serious about how excited he is. “Hi Belle, its so nice to meet you. Thank you for coming and helping me out.” I said. Ben had said Fae were fairies on the day we arrived here. Belle seemed to be normal human size and not a tiny winged person sitting on a flower. “Hello Clarry. Its nice to meet you too. John and I were just talking over your other abilities you have discovered. It really is interesting. I must say I am honoured to be the one to help you discover your spirit and element. Should we get started?” Belle seemed to be a lot like alpha John. Very well spoken. Very lady like. Very proper. “Yes, thank you. Have a good morning John. See you later.” I said to the alpha as he walked away. Belle started walking slowly towards the middle of the field. She started rummaging through her bag and pulled out a few strange objects. She has 5 bowls. In the 1 she poured water. Another she lit a candle. Another she put some sand in. Another she put what looked like bones. And the last 1 she left empty. She looked up at my confused expression and smirked. “These all have meaning. They represent the 5 elements. Each Fae has an element that they are able to control. The water is obviously for the water element. Water can be found in almost everything. Its in the ground, it in flowers and its even in you. And can be drawn from all of these things. The candle is for fire. All you would need is the smallest spark and a flame can be drawn from it. The dirt is for earth. Now earth is obviously all around us everywhere we go. If you can control earth then you an control all that grown on it. The bones are for spirit. Summoning the dead to do your bidding. Seems a bit dark but spirits can do a lot that our physical bodies cannot. The last bowl would appear empty to someone who does not know, but this bowl contains air. Controlling air, would mean wind. You could create a breeze, a tornado, or even removed someone’s breath. There is good and bad to all magic and elements. Its up to you to choose what you want to be.” She finished explaining but I was feeling a little information overload. “Ok.” Was all I could think to say. Belle smiled, “ these are no ordinary bowls. Each clan has their own set. They are sacred. They help our kind find their element. But first, we need to find your spirit.” “My spirit?” I asked now confused. She laughed. “Yes Clarry, your spirit. A little voice inside your head that helps you shift between human and fae.” Now I was confused. “ you mean like my dragon Cleo?” Well. Now it was Bella’s turn to be confused. “Well, similar. I think. I’m not sure if this will work. I’ve never heard of three beings inhabiting one body. We will have to see if Cleo is the only one hiding in there.” “I’m sure as hell not a Fae!” Cleo moaned out in my head. “Ok, how do we do this?” I asked after shooshing my dragon. “Come sit with me. Cross your legs. Drink this.” She instructed. I did as she said and awaited my next instruction. “What you just drank was water from a sacred stream. It will help you call you spirit. Now, put your hands together and rub them until they are hot.” I followed her instructions wondering how this helped anything other than warm my freezing hands. “Now place your hands over your belly, just below your rib cage. Now where you feel that warmth, imagine it traveling up to your head slowly and wait for it to spread throughout your body.” She sat watching me as I closed my eyes and continued following out all her instructions. It was weird how I actually felt the heat travel up to my head, leaving my abdomen completely. It then stayed in what felt like the centre of my forehead for a few minutes before slowly starting to spread across my entire body. Once I felt it right down to my fingers and toes I opened my eyes to get my next instruction. Belle sat with a shocked look on her face as all 5 bowls floated about a foot off the ground. “Did I do something wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked, feeling a bit anxious. But she didn’t answer. She just put her finger on her lip, signalling me to keep quiet. I sat staring at her while she stared at me. It appeared she was waiting for something. I just didn’t know what. So, I closed my eyes again and waited for something. Anything. After a while I felt the warmth moving around in me again. It Travelled to my back, between my shoulder blades and sort of built pressure before moving to my hands and face doing the same thing. My eyes were next. The feeling so foreign it made my eyes water. Not that it hurt. It was just a warmth, with a bit of pressure. It kept moving around to different body parts until my body went back to normal feeling. I peeped one eye open at belle who was still sitting with her wide eyes and shoosh look, so I closed my eye again and kept waiting. “Hello…..is anyone there?” a voice in my head said. I answered the same way I speak to Cleo. “Hi, yes, I’m here. Are you my Fae spirit?” “Yes. I am. I’m so glad you finally unbound the spell. I’ve been trying to push forward for what feels like forever. My Name is Trixy. I’m so glad to finally be free.” “Wait, what spell…..I also couldn’t push forward.” Cleo butted in. “Who is that?” Trixy replied. “That’s my dragon, Cleo.” I told her. “How is that possible?” Trixy said. “I’ve never heard of this before, and I have lived many lives?” “This is new for me too! I couldn’t even feel the presence of anyone else in here.” Cleo said, confusion laced in her voice. “Well, you guys think you’re surprised? I didn’t even know the supernatural world existed 3 days ago. Never mind the fact that I’m part of it. Or that I can blow things up with my mind, change into a dragon, and……… actually I don’t even know what fae can really do yet, and what’s freaking me out the most is the whole vampire thing…… Do they really drink blood? Do I have to drink blood?” I said frantically in my head, the thought making me gag. “Nasty creatures those…. Wait don’t tell me we are vampire as well. And blow things up with your mind? Guys whats going on here? What have I missed?” Now Trixy was sounding very confused. “Basically, we are the Hybrid being from the prophecy that will bear a child that will rule the supernatural world. So we are witch, Dragon, Fae and vampire.” Cleo caught Trixy up. “Ahem” Belle cleared her throat. I peeked 1 eye open and Belle was staring at me expectantly, excitement twinkling in her eyes. “So, did she appear?” Bella asked. “Yeah, her name is Trixy, she was a bit confused as to why she was sharing her space with someone else in my head, so Cleo caught her up on the situating we are in. Well, some of it at least.” I let Belle know what was going on in my head currently. “I see. Well, there will plenty time for that later. We have a lot to get through. Lets get to your elements. Did you notice that all of the bowls were floating above the ground?” Belle asked. “I have never seen this before myself. I have only heard about it in folklore. Honestly, I believed it was just that, folklore. Its so very rare to be blessed with all five elements. I’m fascinated really! I feel honoured to have helped you find your spirit. Tell me, did she say anything about why she didn’t surface sooner?” Belle asked with a dreamy eyed look on her face. “Trixy said something about breaking a spell. Cleo also said she struggled to push forward for a long time. I’m not sure how, but Trixy seems to think I broke a spell and she was able to surface.” I told Belle everything Trixy had said early. “Perhaps your parents had put a spell on you to prevent any of your powers from surfacing in order to keep you hidden. I believe they would have wanted you to have a normal life. Perhaps there was something that would trigger certain parts of your being to present themselves. That would make sense as to why Cleo came forward before Trixy. You see Fae usually find their spirits at around 15 years old, whereas Dragons push forward at 18 years old and lastly Witches powers start showing at 16.” Trixy explained her thoughts on the matter. “And what about vampires?” I asked, noticing she left that one out. “Well, that’s the part of your whole being that I don’t understand and the reason most people believe that the prophecy would never come true. Vampires cant reproduce. Vampires are created through drinking elder vampire blood when you are on the brink of death. They are basically zombies that suck the life out other beings in order to survive themselves. Unlike story book tales, they are not immortal. They keep their youth by sucking the life out of others. If they don’t, they grow old and die, just like the rest of us. Now I’m not saying they are all bad. There are vampires that have been on the council for many centuries. They suck the life out of supernatural beings who have been given the death sentence for gruesome crimes. So ultimately, they are doing the world a favour. But, for them to have reproduced, well, it could only have been done in a lab by splicing embyos and planting them in a whom. Or, at least that is my take on it. I was among those who did not believe in the prophecy. I thought it was impossible.” Belle really looked like she was racking her brain for answers. ”When I was offered the opportunity to come and help you, I simply couldn’t decline the offer because I simply had to see it for myself.” She paused for a moment looking around at her surroundings. ”Anyway, We cant dwell on that all day. What do you say we head down to the stream and try and harness some of your element powers?” Belle ended with an exited smile. “Oh, Ok. Yeah, Lets do that. I didn’t even know there was a stream around here.” I replied. “There sure is. Its beautiful. Right down that path over there. Lets go.” She hopped up and basically skipped down the path. At the end of the path through the woods behind the pack house was a secluded stream. It had a few tables and chairs in an open area with fire pits scattered here and there. It looked like a place where people went to have picnics and swim. Belle started lighting a fire in one of the pits while I ambled around taking in the gorgeous scenery. I know I am basically living in a fairytale right now but this place made me feel a little more like the good fairytales. “Are you ready to use the elements to create magic?” Belle asked. “Yeah, I’m quite excited actually!” I replied, feeling a new sense of energy in this serene environment. “Great. Ok, so, put your hand out toward the water and will it with all your heart to do whatever you can imagine it doing. Try small movements first.” Belle instructed. I thought for a moment before deciding on just a small ball of water lifting out of the stream. I put my hands, palms forward, out toward the water and willed my little ball of water to lift out of the large stream in front of me. It took a few minutes before a very wobbly little, sort of ball shaped, ball of water lifted from the stream. I may have gotten slightly over excited, because I threw my hands up in the air and a whole bunch of little balls flew out the stream and splattered everywhere like rain all around us. We were both soaking. Cleo and Trixy were both rolling with laughter in my head. I looked over at belle who now had mascara running down her face, but also laughing so hard she didn’t even notice. “Always remember to settle your element back down before moving onto another task. That was my fault. I should have warned you. Lets say, you are using air and create a wind spout. If you do not settle it down and dissipate it and leave it, it could run away and grow into a tornado. That could be disastrous. I’m glad I told you to start small.” Belle ended with a giggle. “Ok I guess we should do fire next while we still have a slight ember. Everything else is wet now. Ok so, hands out. Imagine one of those tiny sparks growing into a flame and relighting the fire. When you are done drop your hands while still looking at the flame. Only look away when your hands are back at your sides. Kind of like holstering a weapon. Your hands are your weapon.” I did as she said and soon our fire was as it was before I dowsed it with my water balls. Once my weapons were holstered, I looked over at Belle who was grinning happily and approached the fire. “At least now I can warm up a bit.” She said while warming her cold wet hand but the fire. Belle went on to showing me how to make wind out of air, make a snow man out of dirt. We decided on calling upon spirits for another day when I have a bit more experience because that one is a bit complicated, and her being an earth element, didn’t have any knowledge on it herself. She said she would find me a trusted spirit tutor after discussing it with the alpha first. When we headed up the path it was getting dark already. My stomach was grumbling furiously, Cleo was moaning about how hungry we are, and Trixy was laughing at how much dragons eat. I practically have my very own circus in my head. When we arrived back at the pack house, we headed straight for the dining hall. Belle said her goodbyes and headed for the alphas table. I headed straight for the buffet and with a little encouragement from Cleo, I had a mountain of food on my plate. I went and sat by Lisa, and together we ate like ravenous animals while talking about our day’s events. Lisa couldn’t wait to see all of my newfound powers. She had spent the afternoon riding on the back of her Mate in dragon form and couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was to soar above the clouds. This made Cleo moan in my head and Trixy couldn’t contain her excitement either because (Something nobody had mentioned to me) we could transform and fly too. However, Fae, in their transformed state can stay human size, or, they can shrink down to barbie doll size. Cleo and Trixy, both thought, it would be a good idea to try and transform into both at the same time and see what happened. I wasn’t too sure about it but told them we would try it at a later stage when I understood more about all of my powers. After dinner and a much-needed shower, Lisa and I lay in our beds and talked half the night away before Lisa finally fall asleep. We had an off day tomorrow. The pack didn’t train on Sundays and Alpha John was still trying to find the Vampire that owed him a favour. I lay awake a while longer wondering if Jason was ok. I truly hoped they hadn’t hurt him. The thought of him sitting in a cold damp cell while I lay in a nice warm bed with a full belly broke my heart. I decided that tomorrow, I would definitely put in some practice so that when the time came for war, I would be ready to take out anyone in the way of me saving my mate.
