The day passed awfully slow as I was forced to smile for pictures. Declan, on the other hand, looked absolutely at ease. If anything, I would say he looks like a groom that had waited for this day for such a long time. Like we had dated for a lifetime or something. We cut the cake and fed it to each other, awkwardly. We had the father-daughter dance which was a little emotional and funny, taking that my father can't dance to even save a life.
Then came the moment everyone anticipated today, my first dance with my so-called husband.
I smirked when he placed his hand at the small of my back. I put my hand on his shoulder and the other in his. A classic dance. I made sure I'd stepped on his shoes as much as I can when we twirled around but Declan was a pro at avoiding my attacks. It doesn't help that he had an annoying smile plastered on his face, just to piss me off more.
My parents and Aishah left after the dance since my parents are going to Singapore later tonight for a business deal. Most of the guests left so it was just the Wilsons, a few of Declan's business partners and friends.
Declan then introduced me to his best friend Hunter, who looks like a model as well. He looked a little older than Declan and that made me wonder how the are even friends.
"It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Hanna. Declan would never shut his mouth talking about you" Hunter told me, grinning. I looked at Declan in confusion, raising my eyebrows in question.
Declan just gave a tight smile to both of us, slapping Hunter's back once with unnecessary force and making him cough involuntarily in pain. Hunter turned his face to look incredulously at Declan but Declan ignored him, "Hanna, why don't you go get ready. I am sure you want to meet your parents at the airport" He said, tilting his head to look at me.
I narrowed my eyes at him but nodded anyway without a word, "I'll show you the room" He said and gestured me to follow him. Although I knew where his room is, I gritted my teeth and followed him, desperate to get out of this heavy dress.
When we are a little away from prying ears, I cleared my throat to get his attention, "So what does Hunter meant just now?" I asked him as he led the way into his house, trying to sound indifferent.
"Since when you started to care about what I talk about?" He asked me rudely as he walked in front of me. I resisted an urge to punch him, again.
"Since it's about me" I retorted smartly, narrowing my eyes at the back of the head.
He came to stop in front of his room and punched in codes on the keypad that I didn't notice last week, "I'll be downstairs, get ready in thirty minutes" He said, pushing the door open, "Everything you need, you can find it in the closet" He added, finally turning around, looking at me.
"Okay, dad" I scoffed sarcastically, as I walked into the room, bumping his side roughly.
Declan looked stunned for a moment and then he looked uncomfortable. I could almost make out the pink that suddenly present on his cheeks. He shook his head and walked away from me swiftly after that.
Well, that was awkward. I am never going to refer his as dad anymore. This was the first and last time.
I twirled around in one spot, slowly as I looked around the room in a daze and admiration. As much as I hate Declan, I had to admit that I love his taste in interior designs. The room is absolutely amazing.
It's so spacious, luxurious, and elegant. The walls were painted in cream color in a very rustic way. There was a couch and a mini-study table with a laptop resting on it on the far corner of the room.
The huge bed that looked like it was made from clouds and dreams was in the center and the huge LCD TV was facing the bed on the opposite wall. There were two doors so I went to it and tried to push it open.
It didn't budge. It was locked. Well, that's weird. Maybe it had treasures inside of them. Declan looks rich enough to have a vault in his room.
So, I went to the other door and pushed it open. My jaw hit the ground as I walked into the biggest walk-in closet that I ever have seen. It was literally the size of my bedroom.
One side was stocked with all the things a girl would ever want. Declan wasn't kidding when he said that everything I need will be here. There must be at least a hundred pair of footwear was stacked against the shelf. A hundred of branded bags were stacked next to the footwear section.
Dresses, jeans, hoodies, skirts, blouse, anything that a girl would wear were hanging neatly in a see-through wardrobe. I wonder who did all the shopping.
On the opposite side was Declan's area. Shoes were stacked neatly just like mine. Suits, shirts, trousers, t-shirts, and pants were hanging in a see-through wardrobe.
For some reason, Declan had a separate vanity mirror and chair for both of us. That's odd. I went to my, well side vanity and curiously pulled open a drawer.
Jewels. Rings. Necklaces. Earrings. Watches.
I pulled the other one and found all the makeup essentials. I smiled, glad that it was here because I didn't bring any with me.
Suddenly a thought flashed in my brain and I froze. Did Declan seriously think that I would sleep in the same room with him?
There was another door in the closet so I assumed that it was the bathroom. I locked the closet and changed my clothes in the bathroom.
I chose a simple black chiffon dress and kept my makeup minimal. I undid my hair and let it cascade freely. Once satisfied with my look, I exited Declan's room and went down to find him.
By now everyone left the house so it was only Declan, me, and the maids. I found Declan sitting on a sofa in the living room, tapping something on his phone screen.
I sauntered to him and cleared my throat. Declan looked up from his phone and gave me a smile.
"Shall we?" He asked, getting up from the sofa.
"We're not sharing a room," I said through my gritted teeth.
He smirked at me. He didn't say anything else other than giving me that annoying smirk that I oh so want to wipe off from his face. He held out his hand and looked at me expectantly, waiting for me to take it.
I looked at him incredulously and rolled my eyes as I walked right past him, bumping his side intentionally as I moved. I heard a small sigh and shoes clicking against the floor, indicating that he is following me.
I noticed that the house is quiet and I assumed that everyone, including the other Wilsons, left.
I exited the house and went to the porch. Three cars were parked there and I had no idea in which car we will be going to the airport. Feeling a little ashamed, I debated internally if I should turn around and face him.
I realized that I probably won't have a ride on Monday considering my father forbidden me from driving. I wonder if my chauffeur would come to pick me up. I'd wait for him on Monday and if he didn't turn up, I'll take a bus or uber.
I finally decided to just wait on the spot I am standing now until he unlocks on of the car. But for the new two minutes, it was eerily quiet. Thinking that he might have gone back into his house, I turned around.
I staggered a step back when I found him in such close proximity to myself. I put my hand against my chest where my heart is beating wildly right now and put some space between us. Did he stand there the whole freaking time?
"Do not sneak up on me!" I glared at him, warning clear as day in my tone.
"Well, maybe you should have followed me instead of me following you. It is a new place for you" He said, walking to the Range Rover with confidence like I didn't even intimidate him in the slightest.
The car ride was quiet. He didn't attempt to make any conversation with me and I was really glad. I wanted it to be that way. I just hummed under my breath to the songs that were playing on the stereo the entire forty-five minutes.
"You know, you have a great voice" He complimented when we reached the airport.
"Tha-thank you," I said, scratching the back of my neck, embarrassed.
It was not that hard to spot my parents at this airport. They were checking in and getting their boarding passes when we found them. My mother was munching on some chips absentmindedly. When her eyes landed on us, they lighted up.
"Thank you for bringing her," My father said, gratefully while. Giving me a side hug to which I snuggled into.
"Pleasure is mine" Declan smiled genuinely at my parents and at that same moment his phone started ringing. He took out his phone from his pocket and stared at the screen for a few seconds. I noticed his demeanor change for a split second but he masked a polite smile quickly, "I'll have to attend this call, excuse me" He said politely and walked away from us.
"I forgot to change some money into Singapore dollars," My father said as his eyes wandered around the airport as if he is trying really hard to spot something, "I'll be back in a moment" He left in hurry to find a money changer. It was just me and my mother who was grinning ear to ear now.
It was creepy but I decided to ignore it.
But she definitely wants to have a conversation with because she cleared her throat and I mentally prepared myself to remain calm no matter what she says, "I hope you won't be a pain in the ass to him," She said after a few minutes of silence still munching, "He's not a teenager, he is an adult and has a business to run so please be a good girl" She reminded me and I restrained myself from rolling my eyes at her.
"I'll try," I said, feigning ignorance.
"We'll call you every day" She informed me and I nodded, "When you both will be back?" I asked her, hoping they will come back in a week or two.
"This trip might take more than a month, Hanna," My mother said carefully, watching for my reaction, offering some chips to me.
I accepted some chips as I kept my face straight, void of any emotion. They made marry someone and now on their way to Singapore like a young, newlyweds. A little giggle escaped from my lips when I noticed that my parents are literally going on a honeymoon on my behalf.
"What are you laughing at?" My mother asked, watching me as if I had lost my sanity.
"No it's just, I am the one who got married today and my parents are the one who is going on a honeymoon," I said, an unattractive giggle escaping from my lips. I covered my mouth with my hand when some passers-by gave me weird looks.
My mother raised her eyebrows and gave me a knowing look, "If you really want to go for a honeymoon, you can always ask Declan" She said, waggling her eyebrows suggestively making my mood drop.
"Mom, it was a joke alright. I do not wish to go for a honeymoon with Declan" I said glaring at her, all the traces of humor was gone from my voice. I poped the chip in my mouth and start to munch it.
"Whatever you say, honey," My mother said in a sing-song tone, successfully annoying me. I huffed, popping the rest of the chips into my mouth before crossing my hands against my chest.
I let my eyes wander around the airport as I munched the chips begrudgingly. For some reason, I always enjoyed going to the airport. It's always fun to watch people's behaviour here. Some looked happy and excited. Some look trouble because of extra baggage.
My eyes unintentionally landed on Declan who now striding towards us. His long legs carrying him easily, quickly, and at the same time, gracefully.
"Sorry about that. Business stuffs" Declan smiled apologetically at my mother when he reached us. He stood next to me and I subtly moved away from him a little.
"No problem at all," My mother said with a wide smile, waving her hands dismissively at him.
"That's our flight, take care sweety" I heard my father say and I turned to look at him putting the freshly changed Singapore dollar in his wallet, "I will miss you," He said looking at him while putting his wallet in his pocket.
"Me too, Dad," I said giving him a tight hug, my voice cracking just a little. We have done this a lot of times. My parents were constantly on a business trip but this time, my heart literally felt heavy to let them go this time.
Maybe because I am not just their little girl anymore. I am someone's wife now. It a hard pill to swallow.
"You, young man, take care of her. If she cries, you better wish that you're far away from here already" My father tried to look as intimidating as he could, making a smile tug on my lips.
"I'll try" Declan replied coolly with a playful grin.
My father's face broke into a smile and he patted Declan's shoulder. With one last longing look, my parents walked hand in hand towards the immigration department. I waved to them until they disappeared from the line of my vision.
