Chapter Six
When Christmas break finally arrived I was overjoyed. Believe me, Nick and I needed a long stress-free break from all the drama surrounding our lives. His last football season was probably the worst one of his young life. As a matter of fact, the final game against the Fighting Crows proved to be one of the most difficult ones ever.
The Monday after the last game, the entire school welcomed him by throwing the biggest celebration the town had ever seen. Mr. Lewis bestowed upon him an award of excellence for his outstanding achievement in football. I had never seen Nick so happy before. He’d accomplished what he wanted—to leave his mark in Elite High as the greatest quarterback that they had ever seen.
