Chapter 8

-Helix POV- I now sit with my arms crossed, leaning back and preventing with all my strength not to bounce my legs out of nervousness. It is hard to look at them both. And their scent is really making it even harder. My eyes drift to Harper. Our eyes meet and a jolt goes through my chest. I look away but now I am looking at Rose. She looks up to the people that are talking and I take her in. I found her beautiful before but now to me she is like the moon goddess herself gracing me with her presence. “He needs to be able to control his wolf, yes. But he also needs to spend time with each girl to figure out who he wants.” Mom says and that takes me out of my stalker state. (Yea, stalker... I could look at her all day.) My thoughts go to what my mother just said. I can see what she means but I also know that this can all be a bad idea. My mom continues. “I will be going to one of the elders in one of the packs up in Crescent Mountain. I have heard one of them talking about this scenario. They might have some helpful ideas of what can be done or even more knowledge on all of this.” “In the meantime...” Maximus looks at Rose, Harper, and me. “...you three have to deal with this. This is your situation. You all need to find a way. We can only do so much.” I internally sigh but nod. “Your parents and I have more to discuss. You three should take this time to talk.” Maximus says. The three of us walk out of the office and somehow, we end up outside of the packhouse. I can’t deny that it is a bit awkward. I can’t even look at them now. “Rules.” Harper suddenly says. We both look at her. “We need... to put some rules. For example... Helix... should not be showing affection to either of us. That would just vex the other and probably turn into a fight.” Rose nods. “We... can be civil about all of this. This is no one’s fault.” She looks at Harper. “Not yours.” Then she looks at me. “Not yours either and not mine. This just... happened.” We all nod. “I know they said that I should spend time with each of you but... I think... spending time all of us together like this would be best.” I say and they both nod, agreeing. I don't think I would be able to resist myself if I was alone with either of them. But when we are all together, my wolf and I are so confused that we are unable to act on our instincts. Would I like to have each of them by themselves? Yes. But I know how this works. It would be too tempting for my wolf. I almost feel like... he wants it all. Both. But that will never happen. We werewolves are too jealous. It is part of our nature. They would end up killing each other in a fit of rage. “The best way to try and see how this will work for now would be by the three of us going to Cooper's party.” I say. “I think that would be a good first experiment.” They both nod. “No physical contact, just talk.” Harper says. Rose nods. “Spend time together.” (Man, this is going much better than I thought it would.) The only problem right now is that both their scent together is driving me crazy. “Alright, we agree then.” Before they can say anything else, I turn around and walk away, needing to get away from them. I walk to the back of the house where Dominic walks up to me. “Last day of school for you is tomorrow, right?” He asks. I stop walking and nod. “We’ll start training the day after.” “That soon?” “Yea. Trust me. The sooner, the better.” “Alright.” I say, with a nod. I walk away and head to the forest. I go behind a tree and take my clothes off then, shift. I go for a run thinking that it will help clear up my head. I end up in my favorite spot. The top of a cliff that overlooks the forest. I shift and go behind one of the hollow trees where I take out a bag with pants in it. The forest near our pack is scattered with hidden clothes. It’s a werewolf thing. I put them on and then sit on one of the rocks near the cliff. It is beautiful here. One of my favorite places to be and relax and mostly hide from angry family members. I sit and ponder how my life has really become so complicated. A few years ago, I was a carefree kid. Then the drama started a year and a half ago when my sisters and I found out that we were of Alpha blood after believing that we were betas all our lives. Mom and dad really had that well hidden. My mind drifts to the first time I met Rose. My old pack had just merged with Maximus's pack. We had just arrived. /Flashback/ We get out of the car and smell the air of our new home. I take a deep breath looking at the scene in front of us. Two pack houses. Bothe right next to each other and one looks newer than the other one. “Wow, this is bigger than our pack.” Stella says. “Yes, you're going to love it here girls.” Dad says, picking up boxes out of the car. I slowly start to move away, hoping that he won’t ask me to help. “Can we go for a run in the woods?” Nova asks. “Yes, but don’t be too long, we have a lot to do.” Mom says. She comes out of the new packhouse and goes past me. (Almost there...) I’m trying to make it to the house without them noticing me but then I turn to my sisters and look towards the forest. (It does sound nice to go explore a little.) I see Nova and Stella start walking into the forest. “I want to go too.” I say, making my mind up. “No, you need to help me unpack since you didn’t help pack a single thing.” Mom says. She gives me that warning look she always gives me when she means business. (I should have just gone inside!) “Uh! Fine.... slave driver.” I mumble and mom gasps. She swings at me and tries to smack my shoulder but I run away laughing. Dad sighs. “Stop giving your mother grief. Oh, and Nova...” I have been running around the car and mom couldn’t keep up so she gives up. “Don’t get into any trouble, we just got here.” Dad says to Nova. A justified warning since she is always causing trouble... but then again, so am I. Nova gives him a big smile. “Of course, not dad. I’ll be an angel today.” “Lucifer was an angel.” I mumble. It comes out instantly. It has become a habit to just say what is on my mind. “Helix!” Mom shouts and I start running again feeling the menace coming from behind me. Dad sighs and goes back to the boxes. I run away from the car this time and head to the main packhouse. I run past it thinking that mom might still be after me and go to the side of the house. I run so fast that it is hard to stop when someone walks right in front of me. *Slam* “Uh!” I hit someone and we both fall to the ground. “Crap! Sorry.” I say. I look up and see a beautiful girl with brown hair and brown eyes. (Wow. She is... so pretty.) “Are you okay?” She asks. I nod. “Yeah. Are you?” She smiles. “Yeah.” We both quickly get up. “You are from the new pack, right?” She asks. I nod. “Yeah, and I think I am going to like it here.” I look her up and down and she starts laughing. “You are a cutie.” She says in a way that someone would say to a kid. I internally sigh. I tend to look a bit younger than my age but I am just a year younger or two than her, I think. She looks as old as my sisters. “Cute? Your cute.” I say and she laughs again. (Great. Now I’m just a kid to her. Story of my life.) I sigh. “Hey Rose, Dad is calling you.” A guy in the distance says. “Rose, huh? A fitting name for a beauty.” (Am I being too cheesy?) She starts walking away while she giggles and waves at me. I stare at her almost in a trance as she leaves. (I really think I am going to like it here.)
