Chapter 9

-Helix POV- As I think of that day I met her, I close my eyes and feel the summer breeze softly touch my face while I still sit overlooking the cliff. I then groan. “What the hell am I going to do?” I now think about Harper and get angry. “Why can’t we just choose Rose, you stupid wolf! She is the one I always wanted and I still do!” There is silence. I sigh and roll my eyes. (As if he could talk to me.) “Why on earth did it have to be Harper?” My mind now travels to when I first met her. It was a couple of months ago. I had just finished a run and saw her getting out of the car when she first arrived here. “Welcome.” I said with a smile. She smiled back. “Thanks.” (What a pretty girl.) “You must be the new Luna’s daughter.” I say. “Yes. My name is Harper.” She looks at me almost as if she is enthralled. “Uh... Helix.” “Harper! Come.” The new soon-to-be Luna says as she walks out of the car and into the house. Harper and I wave at each other. And that was it. I thought she was cute and I did feel a small attraction towards her but that was it. It wasn’t like I felt with Rose when I met her. I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s not the same for everyone. “This really sucks.” I actually end up spending most of my day there. Next day, I go through my classes like I normally do and when the last one is done, Cooper and I bolt it out. “Finally! No more school ever again!” I shout with excitement. Cooper gives a fist pump. “Yeah!” We walk outside and to the parking lot. “You look tired, man. You sure you can make it tonight?” He asks me. I rub the back of my neck but nod. “Yeah, I’ll be there.” “Cool. But do you think you’ll survive the night?” I exhale a breath. “That... I’m not so sure of.” He laughs. “You always have to make everything complicated, huh? Two mates... only you would get in that kind of problem.” “What?! No. I’m the most layback guy you know and I never asked for two mates. I wanted just one.” “Yea... just your luck.” “Uh! Leave me alone!” He laughs. I get in my car, wave him goodbye, and had to the packhouse where I get ready for the party tonight. When I get to the party, it is packed already. I head inside and of course, their scent finds me immediately. I have been avoiding going out of my room when I am in the pack just so that I don’t run into them. I am not sure that is a good idea. Maybe I should be spending more time with them so that I get used to taking their scent in. They are standing a few feet apart with Cooper in between them and they seem engaged in conversation with Cooper. They seem passive at the moment which is good. People around me that are part of my pack start whispering, looking at me as I walk up to the girls and Cooper. With a deep breath, I greet them. “Ladies. Cooper.” They give me small smiles. “Hey man!” Cooper pats my back. “Been watching them, making sure they don’t start fighting.” Harper rolls her eyes. “Yeah sure.” “We can behave.” Rose says. “Yeah, what happened before was because of the mate thing.” Harper says. Both Rose and her nod. “Well... that’s... good.” He says. They might be getting along but their presence still affects me. I don’t want to do something stupid that is going to cause them to fight. It is quite surprising to see them not wanting to kill each other. That’s when I realize that they are a bit too friendly. I look at their hands where they have cups. “How much have you guys drunk?” “Not that much.” Rose says. “This is about their sixth cup.” Cooper says. (It seems to have relaxed them a bit.) They are werewolves so six cups are nothing. “Mother fucker! COME HERE!” I turn around at the shouting. Harvey is again running after his brother. “I’m going to break your little legs when I catch you!” “So violent.” Dylan whines as he runs past us. “Violent!? I’ll show you violent!” Harvey screams out. “My money is on Dylan getting away again.” Nova suddenly says standing next to us. “Hey, that is a good idea...” Cooper says. “We should actually bet on it.” “Dylan” “Dylan” “Dylan” We all say putting in our votes on Dylan. Cooper sighs. “Damn... never mind.” “How does he keep coming to these parties.” Rose asks. “Oh... he asked me if he could ride in our trunk and I said yes.” Nova says. I laugh. (Sounds like something she would do.) Dominic's head turns to her. “What?” She rolls her eyes. “What?... Well, at least he asked.” “Nova...” He grunts. “Oh stop. He would have gotten here either way. Now let's just forget about it and have fun.” She starts drinking. We all lift our cups up with a cheer and drink. We all drink until we are all feeling happy and tipsy but not drunk at all. Takes a lot for our kind to get drunk. We all talk, drink and just enjoy the party. The tension between Rose and Harper is gone and maybe it's just temporary but it is better than nothing. The drinking also helps me not to think too much about this whole mate business and I am able to enjoy myself as well. We all end up outside trying to catch a bit of fresh air. Cooper puts an arm around me. “See, things have gone better than anyone expected with you and the girls.” “Yea, I was expecting one of them to kill the other.” Harvey says. He has given up on chasing after his brother after he lost him in the house. “Nope. We are capable of being civilized.” Harper says. They haven’t really talked to each other but we are all together. That has to count for something. “Yea.” Rose says. “We are all adults here.” They try to act normal but I am sure it is taking everything they have to hold it together. I resist it but it is hard for me to be near them too. I look at Rose and I can’t help but have that same fantasy I have had other times we have been to parties. I would take her by the hand, pull her outside and take her into my car. I would then kiss her and slowly touch her thighs all the way up until she would either stop me or let me have my way with her. Since it is my fantasy, she would always let me have my way with her. I’d kiss her neck slowly, sucking and nibbling, my hands and fingers playing her like a guitar in between her legs. Her, whispering my name in a moan while my other hand softly grabs her hair and pull her head back, giving me more space to kiss and bite. After I almost drove her over the edge, I would pick her up and sit her on top of me in the driver's seat. Pulling her underwear to the side and making her ride me but with me still controlling her movements with my hands on her hips, moving her back and forth on me. I bite my lip as I look at her in a complete trance. I know I have to stop when I start feeling my blood rush to my crotch and my body starts getting warm. I look away and take a big gulp of my drink. “Fuck.” I whisper. I know I shouldn’t do that. When I calm down, we all continue to talk and soon we are all swaying and dancing. We are so chill that even Rose and Harper start to talk to each other like they used to do. I think it’s great but they both look at me from time to time. I ignore them but I can feel their stares. All I want to do is stare at them too. This is really hard. I have no idea how we have been keeping it together so far. Suddenly, the crowd around us goes quiet. We can still hear the music inside the house but everyone outside is quiet. I look around trying to understand why. Big men with weapons come walking out of the forest from the back of the house. Everyone is quiet, watching them. “What the hell?” I whisper. “Hunters.” Nova says. The men walk up to the edge of where the crowd of people at the party stand. They stop in front of them, their weapons visible to everyone, even those humans. The man that looks in charge, shifts his crossbow from one shoulder to the other. “This party is over. Everyone needs to leave!” He says. “Hey! My parents own this house. You have no right.” Cooper says walking up to him. The man gets close to Cooper's face. “It doesn’t matter if your parents own this house. This house is not in your territory so yea, I have every right.” Dominic walks up to the man. “What seems to be the problem?” He flexes, showing dominance. Letting the man know that he is not someone to be bossed around. Dominic’s Alpha aura can also be felt. “Peter, I’ll handle this.” A familiar voice says. Out of the forest comes Cyrus. The leader of one of the hunter's houses and next to him stands his son, Jet. He was Nova’s friend... actually... I’m sure he was more than just a friend. I have always had that suspicion and now it is confirmed when I look at Dominic and how he now is fuming.
