"Only for you."

Needless to say that the very next morning, Sienna was a little less inclined to stick by their arranged plan with a hangover that left her somewhat of an invalid. Her complaints left the Knowles family more than a little amused and it took far too much, in Whitney’s opinion, to convince her girlfriend to get ready for the day. The pair got ready together. By now, Sienna had practically moved half her bedroom into her girlfriend’s so everything she’d ever really need was already at Whitney’s house. Their sleepovers were becoming more and more frequent to the point where Shalene would muse more often than not that the pair should find a place of their own. And Whitney found the idea to be quite intriguing but Sienna argued that she couldn’t afford it and she didn’t want to rely on Whitney in that way.  Sienna was studying and, sure, she tutored here and there for some money but certainly not enough to afford renting a place with her girlfriend, no matter how much the idea appealed to her.  So...sleepovers. And an excess of them. They rarely went more than two nights without spending the night without one another.  Sienna made sure to moan and groan throughout the entire morning as they got ready, Whitney silencing her with kisses and mocking. Though Sienna managed to leave her speechless after slipping on her bikini and then Whitney was practically a drooling mess.  “Hurry up, everyone’s waiting.” Sienna slipped on her white, crochet beach dress which still didn’t cover enough to stop her girlfriend from ogling her. “God,” Whitney’s hands found her waist and pulled Sienna to her. “I used to be so cool around you...look at me now, a blubbering mess sometimes.” She buried her face in the older girl’s neck, peppering her skin with kisses and little nibbles. “I’m literally so addicted to you.” “You better be,” Sienna weaved her fingers through her girlfriend’s jet black hair and closed her eyes as she tipped her head back. “If you don’t stop now, I won’t let you walk out of that door.” “Hmm,” Whitney pulled back slowly and brought her face right in front of Sienna’s, closing the distance between their lips and kissing the older girl with every ounce of love she felt for her. “I don’t understand how you could worry about Megan when...Jesus, Sienna, I think I breathe for you.” “Where did that come from?” Sienna’s hands cupped her girlfriend’s face as she pushed her back slightly for their eyes to meet. “Last night,” Whitney sighed softly, closing her eyes for a moment. “You told me you wished I’d love you the way I love her. But you don’t get it, I don’t want to love you like I love her. With you I want a life, I want us to find success together and build a future. With Megan...I know she’ll always be there. She’s a piece of my soul because she just always has been but that’s it. My future...it’s with you.” Sienna nodded, her smile soft and understanding as she brought their lips together. She kissed Whitney because then she wouldn’t have to explain how the younger girl’s words had hurt her. She wouldn’t have to tell Whitney that whereas Megan held a part of her soul, Sienna was sure Whitney was her soulmate, however...Sienna was also sure that she herself was not Whitney’s. Not in the way the raven-haired girl believed her to be. She’d known it for years. She’d seen it. The way Whitney looked at her best friend held a type of love that burned like an eternal flame and it wasn’t nearly as strong as the love the raven-haired girl carried for Sienna.  Perhaps Sienna was just a lesson for the green-eyed girl. Perhaps she was brought into her life to teach how to love so she could one day dispense that love onto another.  These were thoughts that played in Sienna’s mind often and she’d grown to understand them and accept them. And she’d also come to understand that a sane person may have run, a sane person would not wait for fate to tear their heart apart but Sienna loved her brief moments of forever she’d met with Whitney.  She loved losing herself in kisses and touches, in words that she knew Whitney meant...for now. She loved waking up next to the person beside her and being excited for the day ahead. She loved the warmth her girlfriend provided her with, the constant reassurance that love was real and she had it...for now.  So Sienna kissed Whitney because her words had hurt but she could never really explain why and so she put a band-aid on the wound with a kiss that promised forever but could only ever mean...for now. The pair pulled up to Nia’s house half an hour later, Whitney taking the moment as they waited for their friend to trail her hand up and down her girlfriend’s leg, each time travelling a little higher until Sienna halted her movements completely. “You’re being so f*****g cruel right now.” The older girl exhaled slowly, taking the green-eyed girl’s wandering hand in her own instead. Nia was the first to make it to the car which didn’t come to a surprise to anyone. Megan wasn’t exactly known for her punctuality. “Did she slip back to your place for a while last night?” Nia stuck her head between the two seats and eyed Whitney with the question lingering in her eyes. “Who? Meg? No?” “I think our girl may have a secret boyfriend here then,” Nia sat back and the two girls in the front followed her with their eyes. “She snuck out last night, stayed out for a few hours and then snuck back in. She thought I was sleeping.” “She’d tell me if she had a boyfriend.” Whitney scoffed, arching a brow. “Maybe she just...went for a walk.” “Megan Chase? At three AM in the morning?” “That’s a little weird.” Sienna eyed her girlfriend. “She hasn’t said anything to you?” “Not a thing.” Whitney felt a little frustration build at the idea of Megan keeping secrets from her. “I’ll talk to her today.” The girl in question appeared moments later, slipping into the car with a beaming smile and eyes alive with enthusiasm. “Hey gorgeous,” Megan planted a hard kiss to Sienna’s cheeky before greeting Whitney by ruffling her hair. “Looking as grumpy as ever, Whit.” She stood up in the Jeep. “I love it when you take the top off.” “Sit down and buckle up before I brake too hard on purpose.” Whitney scoffed, starting the car and lurching it forward as a threat. “Jerk.” Megan planted herself back down on the seat. “Did you guys know Nia snores?” “Do you ever consider shutting up?” Nia pinched Megan’s arm playfully. “Nope,” The youngest brunette rubbed at her arm. “It’s so cute though, honestly, Nia, if I were gay...you might be the first girl on my list.” “Hey!” Sienna turned her head. “Oh baby, you know we would be married by now if I so much as had one unholy thought.” Megan puckered her lips and sent Sienna a few pretend kisses. “This is gonna be a long ass day.” Whitney tipped her head back against the headrest and groaned. It took them ten minutes to reach Hazel’s house, the blonde already waiting for them on her porch with enough beach accessories to fill up the back of the car. She slipped in beside Megan, putting her in the middle much to her own amusement.  “What’s up with the energy ball?” Hazel gestured to Megan who was practically bouncing in her seat. “I’m excited, it’s been so long since we’ve been to the beach.” “You live right on the beach,” Whitney rolled her eyes. “We literally have to drive, like, half an hour to get our nearest one.” “I don’t really get out much,” Megan shrugged. “College keeps me pretty busy.” “I still can’t believe you’re actually studying,” Hazel chuckled, leaning her head on the youngest brunette’s shoulder. “You could barely focus in any of the classes we shared.” Megan simply shrugged and slumped back in her seat as she closed her eyes and let the sun’s rays kiss her skin. “I like it.” The rest of the drive was spent with most of the girls, excluding Whitney, singing completely off tune to songs they all swore they’d never tell another living soul they liked. Megan tried to initiate a game of I-Spy but that was quickly brought to an end when Whitney couldn’t guess the thing Megan spied starting with an S. It was Sienna. Which in turn, led to Whitney arguing that her girlfriend wasn’t a thing and a whole lecture aimed at Megan when referring to people as things.  When they finally made it to the beach, Megan was the first out of the car, climbing over her friends in excitement and not bothering to grab a thing as she made a beeline for the water. She made a point of stripping down to her bikini as she ran but as soon as her toes touched the ice cold water, she retreated, clinging to Whitney as if the girl could warm up the ocean with her bare hands. “i***t,” Whitney rolled her eyes but let her best friend jump onto her back and carried her to the spot they’d set up their little beach camp. “Having fun?” She smiled, looking back to Megan’s overjoyed smile. “Take me into the water.”  “It won’t be any warmer now.” The green-eyed girl raised a brow. “But you’ll be there,” Megan hugged her friend’s tightly from the back, squeezing her a little tighter with her legs. “You always warm things up, even when you’re the worst.” “You’re pretty f*****g cute sometimes, you know that?” The raven-haired girl chuckled softly, shaking her head before she patted Megan’s leg asking her to jump down. “Let me help set up here and I’ll go in the water with you, okay?” “You’re the best.” Megan instantly contradicted her last statement. “Only for you.” Whitney kissed Megan’s forehead before getting to work on setting up the umbrella Sienna had insisted they bring. Megan, on the other hand, occupied herself by annoying every single one of the other girls. “Put sunscreen on,” She insisted to Nia, waving the bottle of cream in front said girl.  “Baby,” Nia grabbed the bottle, rolling her eyes. “Black don’t crack.” “You’ve been waiting to say that since Megan suggested the beach,” Sienna scoffed. “But we’ve seen and heard you complain after getting too burnt, sunscreen up Miss. Black Don’t Crack.” “See?” Megan waggled her brows playfully. “Mother has spoken.” Nia stuck her tongue out, narrowing her eyes and handing the sunscreen to Hazel, asking the blonde to give her a hand. Whitney made a show of doing the same with Sienna, taking a bit longer on her butt than necessary and eventually having the older girl swat her hands away, but only for Whitney to lean in for a series of kisses that only stopped after Hazel had complained.  “Come on,” Megan stood, grabbing her best friend’s hand and pulling her eagerly. “We’re all set up, you can kiss Sienna when I’m gone again, it’s my Whitney time now.” “She’s spoken.” Whitney shrugged, kissing her girlfriend on the cheek before allowing Megan to drag her to the water. “Hey,” The older girl pulled her friend to a stop just as they reached the water. “Where’d you go last night? Nia said you snuck out.” “For a walk.” Megan shrugged, tugging in an attempt to get Whitney to budge a little closer to the water. “You don’t walk. You definitely know not to walk at three AM in the morning. This is a man’s world after all, or have I taught you nothing?” “It’s not a big deal,” The younger brunette groaned. “I won’t do it again.” “Meg-” “Whit, just let it go, it really isn’t a big deal. I went for a walk, that’s it.” But Megan could see the green-eyed girl was unconvinced, holding her eyes for a little longer and searching for any answers she could give.  Eventually Whitney knew arguing with Megan wouldn’t lead anywhere. They were both so hard-headed, they would stand their ground until it exploded into an unnecessary argument. So Whitney cut her losses, sighing softly and allowing Megan to drag her into the water. And the younger brunette was right, the water was icy. Which prompted her to once again jump up onto Whitney’s back, causing the raven-haired girl to lose her balance resulting in both girls toppling into the water.  “You suck at piggy-backs!” Megan exclaimed as she wiped the salt water off her face. “You gave me zero warning!” Whitney splashed at her best friend, chuckling lightly as the brunette sputtered out some water that made it into her mouth. Her hair was all over her face. Her face was grimacing in distaste and she was so focused on getting the taste out of her mouth that she’d yet to wipe her eyes. So Whitney reached out and wiped at the water around her eyes, causing Megan’s golden-brown eyes to meet her own striking green ones. “You’re my f*****g world, you know that?” Whitney wiped at the hair around Megan’s face as well. “So no more wandering around at odd hours of the night, okay?” “Yes, ma’am.” That cheeky smile that was a trademark of Megan’s settled on the younger girl’s face. “I kinda love it when you’re all over-protective. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.” “i***t,” Whitney stood, offering her hand to her clumsier counterpart. “Water still too cold?” “Nope, you warmed it up, just like I said you would.” Megan winked before backing into the water a little further. “Come on, I want to play me-vs-the waves.” “You’re gonna lose.” Whitney rolled her eyes, before looking back to find the rest of their friends making their way towards the water as well. “She going diving?” Sienna wrapped an arm around her girlfriend as soon as she reached her. “Yep and I really don’t feel like doing the same,” Whitney groaned. “I’ve got you.” Sienna leaned in and kissed her girlfriend before detaching herself and following after Megan. “They’re gonna crush you one day.” “I dare them!” Megan twirled in the water, leaping onto Sienna’s back as soon as the girl was in arm’s reach. “And if I go down, you’re going down with me.” “Funny,” The older girl smirked. “That’s exactly what I say to Whit.” “Really?” Megan put her face right beside the older girl’s. “That’s kinda hot. I mean-” “Sienna!” Whitney’s panicked yell had the older brunette spinning around and it was in that moment that an unexpected wave decided to crash upon the pair, strong enough to knock Megan from her place on Sienna’s back and sending them both under the water. Sienna’s first reaction was to swim up but her mind couldn’t quite grasp which way that was, everything around her seeming foreign as she looked around. Until her eyes found Megan and what looked to be blood pooling around the girl. Only then did she notice the rock beneath where Megan must’ve hit her head upon being swept under.  Before she could try to make her way to her friend, Sienna felt herself being pulled up and the pressure on her lungs was released when she was lifted into the open air. She felt herself cough a couple of times, her eyes wild in their search until they found Whitney’s familiar eyes looking back at her. “Megan, she-” “I’m okay,” Megan emerged from beneath the water, cutting the older brunette off. “Are you good?” She made her way over and examined Sienna frantically. “Your head-” Sienna spun around in Whitney’s hold and reached up to touch where she’d been sure she’d seen an open wound on Megan’s head. “I don’t-you hit your head.” “I’m fine, a little rattled but besides that...I’m okay.” Megan looked around them. “We should head to shore, I think that’s enough water time for me.” The younger brunette started her way back, leaving the couple following behind her. “I could’ve sworn I saw her after she hit her head, it was bleeding.” Sienna’s gaze followed Megan out. “I’m just really f*****g glad you’re okay.” Whitney pressed a kiss to her girlfriend’s temple. “Everything happened so fast, you probably saw the worst case scenario in your head.” “Yeah,” Sienna nodded as she watched Megan receive hugs from both Hazel and Nia. “Probably.”
