CHAPTER FOUR –––––––– * * * * WHEN THE ALARM RANG off, Matt woke up, mumbling. Then he growled and stopped it with a violent slap. Matt sat up and rubbed his face, trying to dislodge the sand that scratched his eyeballs. He ruffled his hair, running his fingers through it. Matt glanced at the clock and scowled. He had slept only three hours, and the lack of sleep had left his brain in a dense fog. He got out of bed and went to the bathroom, wondering where the days when he didn’t need more than an hour or two of sleep, had gone.
