DAMIEN
“Have you ever felt suffocated or choked and couldn’t get yourself out of it?” I asked my best friend, Duke, who sat across from me.
He was busy playing with his phone, but when he heard my voice, he quickly dropped it to stare at me.
“Same issues, right?” I bobbed my head in response to his question.
“It’s gotten worse than before. I feel like he’s everywhere now. During class in college, I can feel his eyes boring holes into me. He even went so far as to enroll in some of the courses I know he hates just to keep an eye on me. Why is he trying to make my life a living hell for me? Isn’t it hard enough that his friends are harassing me simply because I don’t look masculine enough for them?” I complained.
“You look fine to me,” Duke said with a wink. “You’re perfect to me,” he added.
“You’re just saying it because you’re my friend. I know you don’t mean it,” I grumbled as I folded my hands, knowing he was lying to me.
He stood up and approached me, raising my head with his thumb as he drew his face closer to mine.
“I wouldn’t lie to a friend I cherish above all else. When I say you’re perfect, I mean it. Get that in your head,” he said, flicking my forehead.
“Ouch! That hurts. You don’t have to be violent to prove your point,” I murmured.
“That’s the only way you’ll understand what I’m saying, love,” he explained before returning to his seat. “How are you going to deal with the Alpha’s son? Will you continue to let him torture you, or do you want my help?”
“If you were from my Pack, I would gladly need your help in kicking his ass, but you are from another Pack, and touching him may result in war between the two Packs. I’ll have to find a way to deal with him myself,” I explained.
Duke Bradford wasn’t just my best friend, he was also the Alpha of the Grey Woods Pack, a neighboring Pack close to ours. We lived in peace and did business together.
When our pack was in need, they helped our pack and vice versa.
I just happened to be his friend.
I happened to run into Jayden’s friends while escorting Luna Scarlett to Duke's birthday party. Every chance they got, Jayden's friends used it as an opportunity to tease me, and that day was no exception. Duke noticed the situation and intervened, ordering them to let go of me.
I wasn’t helpless. If I could, I would have fought back, but four against one wasn’t the right odds. That would be equivalent to begging for death, so I decided not to fight back.
Duke and I became close friends after that, and he even secretly helped me. It was forbidden for Omegas to train in combat, but thanks to Duke, I was able to get all the training I needed, and despite getting my ass kicked so many times, I still gained the strength to overcome the obstacles during training.
I knew I’d be a helpless Omega if it weren’t for him.
“Fine. I’m not going to help, and I’m still wondering why you haven’t taken them down on your own; remember how you tackled me to the ground?” He asked, recalling an incident in which I won the duel between the two of us, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Not funny. Do you know I had to lie to my subject, that I had to let you win so you won’t feel sad for always losing?”
“I’m sorry. I was pissed that day and needed to let off some steam. I guess I attacked you just as you were about to take a rest. I’m sorry,” I apologized, and he nodded in acceptance.
That day, as I was leaving the Packhouse, I ran into Jayden, who asked me to run an errand for him and bring it to his room. When I did, he locked the door behind me and told me he wasn’t the reason his friends were after me. He told me he loved me and then kissed me forcefully before collapsing on my body.
That bastard had gotten himself drunk and decided to hit on me.
I couldn’t hit a drunk person, so I carefully laid him on his bed and went out with my hand balled into a fist, steamy within like a mountain about to erupt in flames. Fortunately for me, Duke called and said he wanted to train with me.
I had no idea when I began attacking him with the hatred I was feeling inside, all because of Jayden. I let my anger get the best of me, and I didn’t listen when Duke told me to call it a day. When his back was turned, I attacked him and threw him to the ground, punching him in the face. He didn’t attack me or try to push me away, he just lay there while I punched him repeatedly.
I couldn’t stop myself as I was filled with pent-up anger, and the moment I had the opportunity to release it, I decided to pour it all out.
His sentinels dragged me away while I screamed and kicked the air, screaming for them to let me go. When I came through, I apologized to him, but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that I had attacked him because my first kiss had been stolen by my worst nightmare and that I was in a rage and needed something to get rid of my anger.
“I know what to do now,” I declared aloud.
“What are you planning to do?” Duke asked.
“I’m going to attack Jayden first, he needs to have a taste of his own medicine,” Thinking about my first kiss he stole angered me, so I swore to make him pay.
“He’s not going to be easy to take down,” Duke warned.
“I know, I know, but I also know just the right thing to do. Let’s just say I know his weakness,” I smirked as I looked into Duke’s confused eyes.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll use his feelings for me to attack, break, and destroy him.
“Would you mind sharing?”
“No, it’s a secret. I’d love to, but not today. I have to run home now, it’s Jayden’s birthday. I shouldn’t be out this late. It’s 11 a.m., and my Luna will be expecting me. I’ll call you later tonight when I’m in bed. Don't you dare sleep without hearing from me?” I warned him before putting my belongings in my bag.
“Wait… who are you expecting to round up with the assignment?” Duke called out to me.
“You, of course. Who else? I’ve completed the majority of the work, the rest isn’t too difficult. I love you, my sweetheart.”
“You sly bastard,” he yelled, as I smiled and waved at him.
I flagged down a cab and told the driver where I was going, then plugged my headphones in my ears and listened to music until I arrived at the bus stop. After paying the cab driver, I got out of the cab and walked towards the big gate of the packhouse.
I didn’t have time to get to my house before going to meet the Luna because I knew I had a lot of work waiting for me. When I arrived at the Alpha’s house, the entire place was crammed with Omegas, Sentinels, Gammas, and some Betas working their asses off to make today a memorial day.
“Oh, Damien, did you just get here?” Thomas, one of the Sentinels, asked.
“Yes, Sir,” I replied.
“You need to hurry in. Luna Scarlett has been looking for you,” He informed me, and I thanked him and hurried into the house in search of the Luna, and I found her. She was in the kitchen addressing the head cook about what she needed for the day.
“Good afternoon, Ma’a,m“ I greeted her, and her face brightened as soon as she saw me.
“Good afternoon, dear. Did you just get home from school?”
I nodded at her question.
Luna Scarlett took a liking to me, which I didn’t quite understand.
She didn’t treat me like a regular Omega, she treated me like a son, well not like her biological son, but someone dear to her heart.
She didn’t allow any work to be assigned to me, so to work, I had to forcefully take some chores from the head Omega just to keep myself busy in the pack.
I still didn’t understand why she became so close to me and wanted to be so nice to me. It felt very unreal, and I didn’t want to get used to it because I had this fear that I would start wishing for something I could never have.
“I heard you were looking for me, Luna?” I asked her.
“Oh, it’s nothing important. I didn’t see you. It’s unlike you to not stop by the house before leaving for school in the morning. So I was a little concerned…” Her attention was drawn away from me and focused on a Gamma who was incorrectly placing the flower vase.
“I’m sorry, Luna. I should have come here first. I have an assignment due tomorrow, so I had to finish it before I could return here to help with anything,” I explained.
“Oh, I’m not angry. I hope you are done with the assignment?”
“Yes, Luna,”
“Good, very good. Well, there isn’t much for you to do here because all of the tasks have been taken care of. All I need is for you to help me in asking my son if he would like breakfast. You can help me serve him breakfast if he says yes,” She said as she took a step towards the flowers. “Will you be able to do that?” she asked.
“Yes, Luna. I can do that,” I said aloud, but in my head, I was screaming, ‘No, I can’t. Your son is the last person on earth I want to see right now.’
I walked up the stairs to her son’s room, taking a deep breath and then letting it out.
I knocked on the door, and when I heard his voice ordering me in, I silently prayed to the Moon Goddess to help me control my temper and the anger that was eating me up.
I walked out of his room after delivering the message that the Luna had sent me, without bothering to listen to what he had to say. I didn’t want to hear anything he had to say to me, as his apologies wouldn’t even quench the fire inside of me.
The party had begun, but I had decided not to attend. Instead, I decided to stay with the head Omega and assist her with some minor tasks. I could hear people cheering, drums rolling, and music playing, and finally, I heard the Alpha talking about his mate.
I didn’t care if he had mated with someone or not, all I wanted was for him to stop sending his minions to me and focus on his mate while I lived happily and peacefully.
