This mission is shrouded with mysteries and I'm not a fan of mystery or surprises when it comes to my work.
Inna has given us the fake names we are supposed to be living under in the mortal realm until we find the Lumarian
" Your name is Rose Hayden " She informs me
" You are Lilly " She tells Drana
" What's Vandom's ? Marigold ?" We both giggle together never able to resist an opportunity to tease Vandom.
He is always so damn serious!
Ignoring us as if we hadn't spoken at all Inna turns towards him " Your name is Luke. And You are the leader of this mission "
Why am I not surprised?
" Enriha and Vandom are siblings and Drana you are their stepsister"
That is easy to understand.
I and Vandom though share the same hair color.
Vandom is a stunningly good looking guy with sharp angled cheekbones, straight nose and grey eyes that sometimes seem silver when he is looking at something intensely and thick black hair that curls at the base of his neck .
He is built tall, lean and broad-shouldered.
It's a shame the guy rarely smiles, he always looks alert as if he is ready to take down anyone in an instant .
Despite his obvious good looks the three of us had always been friends and I don't mind him playing my brother.
Drana is stark different.
Her hair are so bright bonde as if they are painted in Sun light , blue eyed and delicate looking with a petite doll like frame.
This whole ' Siblings' bluff Is necessary .
Siblings would draw less attention than three random strangers who have arrived together in town and are living in same house .
The house we are supposed to live in is a small one at the fringe of the woods of the town so we can interact with humans yet retain ourselves some privacy.
No sooner than giving us the instructions and some money for survival in the mortal realm does Inna send us out of the guild to pack for the mission.
I had just gotten back from a mission so my satchel already has a few clothes and some money inside it
But I head home anyways because I can't wait to see Bade.
As soon as I enter he leaps at me
" Whoa ! Hold on, big boy !" I laugh as he rubs his giant feline body affectionately against me his head easily reaching my shoulder.
Bade is an Arkaen or Fey panther and just as magnificent and proud as his race is known to be .
So beautifully black and an equally dangerous predator the other fey animals don't stand a change against him when he is out on a hunt in the night .
Entirely black except for the fiery glowing circles of his iris . His eyes literally have fire in them
" I missed you too, " I say patting him on his head
Bade makes both Assassins and Fey alike uncomfortable and I can't blame them , After all, he is an intimidating creature and not to mention he is super sassy.
I groan when he turns away from me with an indignant flick of his long black tail when I tell him the the only way I will be allowed to take him to the mortal realm on my upcoming mission.
" I have Inna's permission but, only for this, " I tell my panther. I know He hates staying behind when I leave for missions " You have no other option "
Bade is highly intelligent he understands everything. With the weariest expression I have ever seen on his feline face he turns towards me .
Though he can't speak his eyes hold a clear ' You are a lame owner, You know ' Look as he proceeds to do the thing that I have been asking him to do.
His magnificent panther form begins to shrink until it is the size of an ordinary alley cat and his fiery iris don't have the twin live flames in them anymore instead they are flat and slit like any ordinary cat's should be
He lets out snort looking at me dejectedly.
If it isn't clear by now , Bade hates shape shifting . He downright despises it .
He doesn't like confining himself in the small body .
But I guess walking around in the mortal realm with Bade beside me in all his original glory will sort of beat the purpose of trying to mingle with humans and gain information when one look at him will send them running for their dear lives .
Naah! Not exactly beneficial for our mission.
Plus , I doubt he will be able to hunt anything there to feed his huge form.
but in this tiny form a small amount of tuna and little milk will be enough to satisfy his hunger.
" Anyways" I smile picking up the mini version of Bade in my arms " You look cute "
It's strange how his meow sounds very similar to ' Shut up !'
With my grumpy pet in my arms and satchel up my shoulder I step out the door of my house and run into someone who is an expert in pissing me off, Rona and her croonies.
" Enriha and her dumb cat running to the mortal realm again to infect humans with her stupidity" The girls on her side Alhea and Zarfia giggle
I stroke Bade calming him as he lets out a deep warning growl that is at odds with his current tiny form.
" I doubt it's for that purpose, Rona," I say looking at her coolly " Or else Inna would have choosen you and your lackeys for this mission. Because no one in all the kingdoms combined are as stupid as the three of you "
She narrows her eyes at me offended " You better watch yourself or else....."
" Or else " I let out a mocking chuckle " You will loose to me in combat again ?"
" Trust me , Rona" I say sweetly " I'm bored sick of defeating you again and again "
" Do yourself a favour " I say leaning closer to her " By the time I come back try to be at least challenging enough for me " hurling those words in her face I walk away
" Rona giving you trouble again ?" Drana says catching up with me as she glares with open hostility at the three of them.
She hates them because I hate them .Best friends code .
" She wishes she could " I say already dismissing them .
Vandom is already waiting for us at the portal that would lead us to the mortal realm .
" Can you both be quick " He says when he sees us approaching
I resist the urge to roll my eyes at him " Aye , Captain serious !" Giving him a two fingered salute I step into the portal.
