Inna hands each of us sheets on which all the details of the Lumarian whose soul we are supposed to hunt down and eliminate is written.
Since the beginning of time, four different fey kingdom have existed Winter, Summer, Light and Dark kingdom.
The summer and the winter weren't a concern to the dark court however, The light kingdom is.
Though it isn't as vast as the other kingdoms are, courtesy of us soul hunters because we kill the Lumarians as soon as we track them..
I frown down at the sheet, it has provided next to no information about our target
I did not even provide us with a name !
All it said is that it is a male estimated to be around the age of seventeen located in a small town in the mountain valley named ' Grace mount' .
How very enlightening ?
But the kicker was when I read the guy hadn't even gained his powers yet
" He is still completely human !"
Unable to believe it I read the sentence again .
It isn't an unknown fact that the Lumarians are humans who gain their powers in mortal realm itself and when they do so we make them say bye -bye to the world before they reach the light kingdom .
Kill their body and then destroy their souls .
This had been a set routine since as long as I can remember .
This is how it has always been.
" Yes , He is still a human, " Inna says " But you have to kill him before he gains his powers "
" Why?"
" I don't know myself "
My head turns towards Inna in absolute shock .
Inna always knows each and every detail of our mission from the itsy bitsy one to the biggest one.
She knows it all , Always .
Ever since I have entered the Guild today I have been receiving shocks of varying degrees. But somehow this one hits me hardest of all.
Inna is like our freakin encyclopedia . She should know everything !
" What if we end up with the wrong human ?"
Drana questions and even I want an answer to that one.
How ? Why? When? Inna knows it all. It is downright unnerving to know that this time she doesn't.
" Inna what are we getting ourselves into ?" I ask her
I don't remember the last time I felt nervous. I had no reason to.
But now , things feel different. Very different.
" I don't really know, Enriha"
Her calm and collected voice is a stark contrast to what I'm feeling inside.
Drana scratches the back of her head looking no better than me as she questions again
" So umm....When we kill this Lumarian, I mean not-yet - Lumarian human " She corrects herself
The word human feels so foreign and wrong here.
" we track him down then kill him and----"
" No ! " Inna whirls on Drana so fast a surprised Drana quickly had to step back.
" You are not supposed to kill him . It is Lord Athriya's orders that you capture him and bring him to the Palace "
The word ' Capture ' sounds just as foreign to my ears as human.
Me and Drana share yet another shocked glance
We are soul hunters, Assassins. We kill
We have been created to kill.
That's our sole purpose of existence.
The word capture never existed in our dictionary
Vandom ,always the one to keep his head cool even in the direst of situations himself looks like he had been thrown off the loop as he speaks " This had never happened before, we have always been sent on soul hunting to kill but never capture and that too a human who doesn't possess any powers yet "
" Indeed" Inna says for once looking as disturbed as the rest ous. .
