Chapter 11: Past (1) *** Lynn’s entire was flushed red, this was the first time the man had seen him like this. “A-are you alright?” Ken panicked at first, ‘Did I say something bad?’ He wondered to himself as he stared at the other. “You… t-think I like Auntie… but that’s not it…” Lynn’s voice was breaking as he spoke. “I’ve always… loved you but… you’re Young Master… I can’t love you… you already know that… yet you’re pressing me for an answer…” Several tears rolled down the student’s face as he spoke. This might have been the first time he’s cried in front of someone else. ‘So that’s what it takes to break your composure…’ Ken thought to himself as he held back a smirk. He hugged the other student. “Calm down… It’s alright now…” He said in a reassuring voice, this was all part of his plan from the very beginning… Sleeping together platonically, confessing, pretending to be jealous and finally getting a confession from Lynn. This wall all pre-planned in the student’s head, all the events leading up to this moment…. * * * “I’m certain Ken will employ your trickery in his life… I’m a bit worried.” Albert said while crossing his hands. “Are you saying I’m giving a bad example to our child?” Amanda questioned, judging by her voice she wasn’t being defensive, simply interested. “Rather… he’s picking up all your Conartist abilities. Ken reads people like books and knows exactly which buttons to push and get the result he desires. In a way that child is a bit scary.” Albert said in a calm voice, despite saying he’s worried he didn’t seem like he was at all. “Hm… There is little I can do at this point. All I ever wanted was for baby Ken to be able to live a good life.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “…but you know Honey… you signed up for this when you married me, I’m afraid neither of us can lead a normal life anymore.” Amanda said in a tone much different to her boisterous self. “I know that… I just hope Ken ends up on the right side of the law.” Albert continued, he remembered the days when he met his wife and was robbed by her. “That’s… something only he can decide for himself…” Amanda said in a quiet voice. ‘After all… I’m not the person that should be giving him advice for what’s right and what’s wrong…’ Life was a bit more complicated for this family… Each with their own pasts that can’t be forgotten and each with their own secrets… Amanda had committed numerous swindles throughout her life. Ever since she could remember her childhood consisted of nothing but trickery, manipulation and stealing… As such she had no intention of trying to act like a saint. Even now in her late twenties she is still within the organization that forced her into a life of crime at an early age. To top it all off she was the leader of the organization right now, which meant her life was put in constant danger… along with her family’s… While Albert is the CEO of a large company, he had a normal upbringing but he was unable to fall in love until he met his wife. His past relationships still haunted him however, he was a playboy that broke women’s hearts one after the other. That resulted in him being stabbed by one of his previous relationships. Thankfully he recovered quickly but there is no telling if something like that won’t happen again... And Ken was an orphan that no one wanted to adopt. He spend his days dreaming of being a part of a family. A dream that might have never been fulfilled… He had known Amanda for a while as she often came by in the orphanage. Finally Ken was adopted into the Cunningham family but that didn’t bring only good with it. While Lynn is from the same organization that Amanda is the leader of. He was kicked out of his family because of his preference towards men, it brought shame to their name and he was no longer wanted. Amanda took him in as the official bodyguard of her adoptive son. But he ended up falling in love with him as well. This truly was one of the strangest families; trouble followed them wherever they were. And in the current situation where Amanda’s life is threatened there is no telling who else will fall victim to those who are seeking to harm them… “Do you think we should bring them back regardless?” Albert asked as he turned to his wife that was lost in thought. “If it were that easy… Ken’s right when he said it might be more dangerous around us. If I am their target it’s better for them to stay focused on me rather than going after the kids.” Amanda explained while crossing her arms. “Yet I can’t help but worry that I may not be their target…”
