Girls Day Out (Part 1)

He had been gone for a week now and here I was, still sitting on the stairs every night and crying.
As I sat there contemplating my existence and crying my eyes out, the front door opened.
I looked up to see a shadow enter and I knew without the lights on that it was the very man that I had been crying over.
“Why is it dark in here?” Jay questioned out loud.
He flipped a switch and the chandelier above filtered light through the foyer.
My eyes looked at a dejected looking Jay.
His beard had grown, he looked like a scruffy mess, like he hadn’t combed it in days.
