CHAPTER FOUR

Bethany was surprised to see the bunch of clothes her daughter had decided to buy. They were all dresses that you would never see a nerd wear. "Looks like the sun rose on the west side today. How come I didn't notice? You're going to wear all this Bella?" Bethany asked and Layla nodded as she arranged her wardrobe. "I decided to give my old clothes out this weekend. Furthermore, I have also decided to stop being a nerd and show the real me. Isn't that great, mother?" Layla raised her brows and Bethany smiled. "That's great, sweetheart." She said to her daughter who smiled triumphantly before she continued arranging her things. 'This time around, what I didn't do on my own in the past, I would do it myself. I'll first deal with those fools and run for this year's Miss Royalty.' Miss Royalty is in the top position in the school. Normally, Alpha kids contest for the role not because those that aren't popular aren't allowed, but because they are always scared of being bullied by the Alphas. "And I want to contest for Miss Royalty this year. This year, I want to have all the fun I haven't had since all these years." Layla pulled back her mother's attention. Bethany was stunned. "You did change Layla. Well good luck, you know I'll always support you here." Bethany kissed her daughter's cheeks affectionately. "Thanks, Mum." Layla smiled. She never thought she would be able to feel her mother's warm hugs again after she had died back then. "Well, dinner would be ready in ten. Do come downstairs to eat. Alright, sweetheart?" Bethany called as she walked out of the room. "Alright," Layla called back as she arranged her cosmetics on the vanity table. She used that opportunity to look at her face. Her face was still a bit swollen from the ball she was hit with earlier in the day but after the ointment she had her mother put in, it seemed better than before. 'This pain is nothing. I've experienced worse from Robert in the past. Being a model back then and living in hell didn't work together. I had to take months of breaks whenever I got beaten by Robert. It was only when it wasn't so severe that I could go out. A week didn't pass by without Robert turning me into his punching bag.' "Layla ." Layla jolted back to reality and looked at the door where her brother stood with a raised eyebrow. "Yes, Bryan?" She exhaled. "Dinner is ready," Bryan informed and she nodded gently. "Alright. I'll be there." She replied and he walked away. 'I really should be careful when zoning out.' After a nice dinner together, Layla went back to arranging her things before going to bed. "Wake up Layla ." Layla opened her eyes groaning at the loud voice in her room which was none other than Isabelle. "Cassandra?! Is there a speaker in your throat?" Layla sat up with a frown and Isabelle threw herself at her. "Bryan said he didn't have you work out this morning because you didn't wake up no matter what he did to wake you up…." "I get it." Layla yawned getting off the bed with her best friend still on her back. "You've added some weight, Isabelle." "You all should stop telling me that. I know already and I like it that way." Isabelle humphed and Layla threw her on the rug, making her groan. "Not fair Layla ." Isabelle groaned, watching Layla walk to the wardrobe and she was stunned immediately when she the clothes in the wardrobe. "When did you change your clothes? What? Popular kid's clothes?" "Yes of course," Layla replied and walked into the bathroom, leaving Isabelle speechless. Layla and Isabelle stepped out of Bryan's car and all attention went straight to Layla. Her dressing alone stunned them all. "Is that Layla or a new student?" "I never knew she was this beautiful, dude." "She's going to steal lots of the popular guys' hearts today." "You're the talk of the school this morning Layla," Isabelle whispered to her as they walked to their lockers. "I know." Layla flipped her hair. She was wearing a white mesh crop top with a black sports bra underneath it, white high-waist tear jeans on a pair of white sneakers. "We'll look at who decided to dress all up." Kira laughed standing before Layla who stopped with a disgusted look on her face. "And what do you want?" Layla crossed her arms across her chest looking at Kira from head to toe. "Let me tell you, they're just lying to you. You look like a clown." Kira threw her head back in laughter and Layla scoffed. "Says the person who looks like she dressed up for Halloween," Layla replied with a smirk leaving Kira speechless. "You…you.." "What's wrong Kira? Speechless?" Layla chuckled. "Thought so. No one has ever told you to look into a better mirror to see you're just a fake." "How dare you…." "What is going on here?"
