Chapter 7. The Throne Is Mine

Cheyne knocked on Emilia Robinson’s door after finding her address. A Sigma wolf came along and checked on all the neighbors. It was so peaceful and quiet. “Dammit!” Cheyne cursed annoyingly. He could not smell any humans inside the house. He knew that the house owner must have left already. The Sigma, named Fabio Rodriguez, came from behind the house and shook his head. It means he could not find anyone. Cheyne gritted his teeth, then walked to the end of the yard. He looked at the sky and frowned. It was going to rain as the clouds started to get dark and gather. “Beta?” Fabio called, and Cheyne turned to get back to the door. “People are watching us right now. They are at their house, peeking.” Cheyne describes his watch through his hunter's eyes. Fabio smirked and scoffed sarcastically. He looked around while his beta, Cheyne, barged inside the house. It was easy for Cheyne to breach the human’s house door. None of the technology could leave werewolf power behind. “Let’s find something inside.” Cheyne asked his sigma, Fabio, to come along. Some of our neighbors must be calling the cops in a moment. Therefore, they have to rush the time quickly. Cheyne and Fabio searched for any information about Emilia in the house. Apparently, there’s no one inside, as Cheyne knew before he went in. Fabio was searching in the bedroom, and he found something. It was crumbled paper. He took it outside and called his beta. “Beta, please see this. Isn’t it like a flyer?” Cheyne took the paper and checked it. He frowned and read whatever was possible. “Yes, an apartment offer? Miami?” he mumbled. Fabio went back to the room to look for something else, but he could not find anything. There were clothes left in the closet. Not so long after, they heard the police's siren from a few yards close to the neighborhood. Cheyne put the paper in the side pocket of his jacket. “Fabio, let’s leave this place!” At the Black Canis mansion, Gabriel Xander was facing his elder to elaborate on his situation. The mating season has left, but Gabriel has not yet married. Moreover, he claimed to imprint a Luna that had never been shown. “This is an insult. You should be the last Alpha of Xander if you can show your Luna. Yet, you are incapable of doing it,” one of the elders sneered sarcastically to Gabriel. Gabriel sharply stared at him expressionlessly. He lifted his chin up arrogantly to face the elders. He would never let them take his throne now. “My Luna is Evangeline Alexander. She’s on vacation now. And I cannot show you her because she’s preparing for her pregnancy,” said Gabriel, making up his lies. He said it without a doubt at all. The elders frowned and saw each other. They could not believe what he said. “What? Are you trying to fool us? That’s impossible!” Another elder stood up and exclaimed. Gabriel smirked, then stood from his chair while buttoning his suit. “Everything ran so smoothly a few nights ago since I imprinted her. Now, she deserves a long vacation from me. I don’t think I need to report it to you all, do I?” Gabriel stated it clearly. The elders seemed so upset; hence, they kept forcing Gabriel to tell them about Eva. “You know the consequences if you don’t have a Luna. Another family should take your place to lead this pack!” Gabriel shook his head expressionlessly. “This pack is under my order, and it stays that way. I don’t care if you like it or not." “Do not try to gamble with time, Gabriel. This is your last chance; you must show her in your coronation this week." The elders did not negotiate at all. They hated Gabriel and always tried to keep him away. What was left was that many Deltas, Gammas, and Zetas were on Gabriel's side. It was not easy to get rid of him. The elders went out of the hall of meetings with so much anger. Gabriel still stood on the edge of the long table. Now he clenched his fist because of the meeting. “Alpha!” Cheyne came closer, then gave out the crumbled paper he found at Emily’s house. “What is this?” Gabriel took the paper and tried to read it. “I think Miss Alexander has been moved to another city. We cannot find her anywhere, including at her friend’s house. She’s also been moving.” Cheyne explained his investigation to Gabriel. Gabriel took a sigh and nodded. “Miami?” Cheyne nodded. “Do you find the address?” Cheyne shook his head. “But we can try to go there, right?” Gabriel narrowed his eyes while thinking. There’s another pack in Miami who had a bad relationship with Black Canis. Miami was their city, and Black Canis had already made a pact among them to stay away. “Make sure that Eva is in Miami. Otherwise, we only raised the warfare with the Levanstine,” Gabriel said, then strolled out of the hall along with Cheyne. Cheyne nodded understandingly, ready to draw up a perfect plan. After he lost Eva, Gabriel had so much temper that he could not handle it. However, he still showed up for his coronation party, which was held in a hotel ballroom. Some families were ready to put him away due to the rumor that Gabriel had not found Luna yet. Gabriel had the power to force them. He has no time to find Eva right now, so the only way is to remain invincible. At the party, his lambdas closed all the doors for the guests inside. No one could come out until their Alpha gave his command. Meanwhile, Gabriel walked to the center and watched everybody. “Those who declined me as an Alpha must fight till death with me now. You can use any power or shaman that you have. If you can beat me, I’ll give you my throne. But if you lose, I will expel you from this pack forever!” Gabriel arrogantly challenged every family inside the room. Some were stepping backward; others were doubtful of continuing. Until there was a family who came forward. It was Morgan who stepped closer to Gabriel. Gabriel smirked and nodded vaguely. Morgan has two brothers who are supposed to be the sigmas. Now, they have to face Gabriel and beat him.
