"What!?" Emmy spoke with a hushed expression of disbelief before taking the pregnancy test. Her eyes widened as she took in the news from the page. Meanwhile, Eva was sitting miserably on the side of the bed. Eva cried uncontrollably, her tears dripping onto her luscious eyelashes. She buried her face in her hands and sobbed.
“Oh my God.” Emmy still murmured in shock and disbelief at Eva’s situation. She came closely to hold her. While stroking Eva’s hair, Eva sobbed uncontrollably and grabbed her by the waist.
“Calm down, okay. We can handle this. It’s okay.” Emmy is at a loss for words, except to try to soothe Eva. How about Eva, even though it was really tough for her? A man raped Eva, and she became pregnant as a result. She had every reason to be devastated.
After ten minutes, Eva's wailing had subsided somewhat. Despite her continued sobbing, Emmy finally succeeded in getting her to look into the eyes.
“We’re going home and talking about this. How about that?” Eva's eyes darted after Emmy made the suggestion. Without uttering a word, Eva nodded. Emmy paid for the entire clinic, including all of the costs.
The doctor released Eva with instructions to schedule follow-up care within two weeks. No comments or nods came from Eva. She stared at the ground as if her spirit had abandoned her body. Emmy, who coordinated everything down to scheduling mutually convenient appointments, opted to take a taxi home rather than the bus. The bus ride should be especially uncomfortable for Eva, who is pregnant. Emmy comforted Eva by putting her arm around her shoulder on the drive home.
"Are you starving? Is there something you'd want to eat? Emmy gently suggested to Eva that they pause for a bit. Eva shook her head and continued to stare out the window. She had lost her appetite and was refusing to eat. Emmy let out a long sigh, and she didn't say another word the rest of the way there.
Eva's tears just started falling out of her eyes. She formerly planned on majoring in interior design in college, but such plans are hopeless at this point. If she becomes pregnant, it would be impossible for her to stay in school. And she doesn't have a father figure or a husband to take responsibility for the baby. All of her negative ideas came to her at once. Now that she was determined to close out business as usual, death accompanied her.
“Hey, let’s go. We arrived!” Emmy’s voice startled Eva, who was drifting somewhere in her thoughts. Eva did not say anything as she opened the right-side door. Emmy gave the taxi fares before she came out. Both she and Eva strolled to the front door together.
“We’re home!” Emmy yelled a bit. She used to keep yelling in front of the door after arriving home to let people know, although none were at home.
“No one at home; why do you keep shouting like that?” Eva asked, half murmuring. Emmy grinned happily because her spontaneous, silly habit could make Eva talk a bit.
“I’m glad you finally said something. I thought you were deaf.” Emmy teased Eva to make her smile. Eva slightly smiled and walked inside. She really could not laugh right now. The things on her belly were not a joke.
Eva stepped slowly to the couch and threw her back. She took off her shoulder bag and put it on the table. Emmy also came closer and said, “I’ll get some water, okay?” Emmy offered her help once again. This time, Eva nodded. “Thank you, Emmy.” Emmy smiled to see Eva’s reaction. Although she looked stressed, Emmy believed that Eva should be able to handle it.
After a few sips of drinking, Eva took a deep breath and put the glass on the table. Meanwhile, Emmy still stared at Eva and said nothing. She intertwined her fingers while sitting sideways to see Eva.
“How are you going to handle this?” Emmy asked Eva after a long break of silence. Eva sighed and shook her head. She was blank on any idea.
“Eva, I know this is very hard for you, but as your best friend, I should say something. Can I do it?” Eva finally turned to Emmy with innocent eyes.
“I think you must report that man and your father as well. This is a crime, and... you should not be the one who paid for the consequences,” said Emmy after deeply thinking. Eva now darted down with her blurry eyes.
“I need time.” Eva murmured her words. Emmy nodded understandingly. She knew that Eva needed more space to herself to decide big things.
“Sure. Oh, Eva.” Emmy spread her arms to hug Eva so she could lay down on her back. “Whatever you decide, regardless of whether it will make me upset, I’ll always be by your side. You are just like my sister.” Eva tightens her hold on Emmy, who slightly smiles and kisses the top of her head.
On the western side of Los Angeles, at The Alexander, Gabriel nearly wrecked Eva's entire bedroom. Gabriel was still not happy after killing the home's owner. To find Eva, he made his way to the estate. No matter where he went inside the house, he could smell her. And like a raging beast, Gabriel lost all self-control. He took the pillow and gave it a good whiff. Somehow, his rage has diminished, but he is still inconsolable. Luna had not yet been found.
“Alpha, we still couldn’t find her. All of our gammas swept stations and subways, but she’s nowhere to find,” said Cheyne to Gabriel, who was still kissing the pillow. Gabriel stood up, then let go of the pillow that lay on the carpet floor.
“Find any hints, anything at all. It would be terrible if I lost her.” Gabriel muttered, "She might be carrying something." His gaze swept the room for any sign of life. Cheyne was receiving the evil eye for keeping an eye on his Alpha.
“What clues?” His eyes followed Gabriel, who walked to one of the tables. Gabriel pulled the last drawer on the right, and there was a book. He took and read any random page. His smirk appeared eventually.
“Emilia …” Gabriel muttered. He turned to Cheyne and threw the book.
“Find a girl named Emilia!”
