After being treated by her best friend, Eva must start a plan to move. She had nothing with her except a dress that she was wearing now. While caressing her odd crescent scar, Eva took a deep breath.
“Are you okay?” asked Emmy, who came to see her in the bedroom. Eva turned to the door and gave a slight, sad smile. Emmy came closer and sat beside her to caress her shoulder.
“I have nothing with me now. I don’t even have any spare clothes.” Emmy smiled at her and nodded.
“Of course, you can use mine. Maybe tomorrow before going to the bus stop, we can buy some clothes for you,” Eva replied casually while half shrugging her shoulders.
“I feel bad to give you more burdens.” Eva gazed at Emmy with her worried look. Meanwhile, Emmy only giggled as if she was so happy.
“I’m happy that you will stay with me. You know that I always end up alone and staying with my best friend is the best thing ever!” Emmy happily assured Eva about her feelings. Eva raised her smile and nodded while saying thanks.
“Thank you. You’re helping me so much now.”
“Now tell me about the details. How could your father come up with the idea of selling you to a man called The Devil? What was he thinking?” asked Emmy, turning to be more serious.
“Our company started falling this year and is almost bankrupt. My dad is trying to save it by asking for financial aid from some banks but it doesn’t work at all. I don’t know how he meets the Devil and he asked my sister to be a for warranty.” Emmy frowned her forehead while listening to Eva’s story. It is getting more and more horrible. She didn’t know how Eva could bear all the situation she was facing now.
“Yesterday, Miranda came and told me that Daddy wanted her to marry The Devil. She was crying and asked for my help,” Eva continued.
“What help?” Emmy asked because of her curiosity.
“That I should help her escape from our house. Miranda wants to marry her boyfriend because she’s pregnant with him.” Eva’s tone got more subtle with her blurry eyes as she started to cry.
“Oh my God,” Emmy mumbled softly.
“Now you have to sacrifice for her. I still can’t believe that this is happening to you. You don’t deserve this. This is a crime, Eva.” Eva started to sob. She couldn’t remember the things going on during the night, but it still traumatized her.
“Are you sure you are not going to sue him, Devil?” asked Emmy once more. Eva nodded slightly.
“I’m scared. He must be some sort of mafia and going to kill me. I better not think about this anymore,” Eva replied with her light sad sobs.
“But what if something happens to you?”
“I don’t know. I hope not. I just want to start my new life.” Emmy nodded understandingly and embraced Eva in her arms. She couldn’t let Eva face the struggle on her own, so she promised to help with everything she could.
On the next day, Eva and Emmy packed two suitcases to move to Miami. They’re going to use the bus to get there. After buying two tickets, Emmy took Eva to buy some clothes in stores around the station.
Eva borrowed a long shirt cardigan from Emmy so the scar on her wrist was hidden. Meanwhile, some Lambdas and Gammas were spreading throughout stations and airports. They are obligated to find their Alpha’s Luna as soon as possible. Therefore, they needed to see the mark. The crescent would glow when one of the wolves recognized it if the Luna showed it. It means when Eva hid the mark behind her sleeve, they were unable to identify her.
“Eve, come here! Look at this shirt. I think it’s going to be gorgeous on you, try it!” Emmy half shrieked to call Eva, who was sightseeing at the clothes store. Eva smiled and accidentally turned to the left. There were three men in suits walking towards her. Each one of them was looking for something.
Eva started to get worried. She anxiously breathed and then walked fast to the store. Eva grabbed Emmy’s hand and then pulled her.
“What happened?”
“Shuss, I think they are looking for me. Look!” Eva pointed at three men who were wandering around the store. They were so handsome yet so suspicious.
“Are you sure?” Emmy whispered behind some hanging dresses in the sale section.
“Yes. I think they are The Devil’s men. Look at them, they must be looking for someone. What should I do?” Eva started to get more anxious and worried. Emmy nodded understandingly, then rolled her eyes. She was looking for a route to escape.
“Let's move up there! Come on!” Emmy half dragged Eva with her while hiding from the men. They were looking for Eva by describing her appearance to the waiters. Yet, Eva and Emmy successfully made their way out of the store.
“How is it?” asked one of the Lambdas to his friend.
“I can’t find it. I’ve checked every tattoo but none. It’s useless.”
“Come on, we have to leave now! Let’s check the bus!”
The Lambdas and Gammas were spread through the bus station to look for Eva. There were so many people and it was easier to Eva to get away from them. She and Emmy successfully got onto the bus and left some men who chased them behind.
“Thanks’ God!” Eva took her breath and then turned to Emmy, who did the same way.
After two weeks of arriving at Miami, Eva was now constantly nauseous. She regularly vomited almost every night. Actually, Eva was too sick to continue her job as a bar waitress that she just had a few days ago. But she must do it anyway.
“What is happening to me?” Eva mumbled while taking her breathing in front of the bathroom mirror in the bar. Eva calmed herself down and ensured she did the job. She was going out of the bathroom but unluckily she passed out to the floor. One of the waiters helped her by carrying her to the nearest clinic.
When Emmy was rushing from her work, she found Eva sitting on the edge of her bed at the clinic holding a paper.
“Eva, are you okay?” Emmy half shrieked. She thought Eva was having an accident.
“What should I do? I’m pregnant.”
