Chapter Fourteen
At first, Lek was angry with her father for reducing Tom’s Cabin from twenty square metres to four, but when she asked her mother, she reminded her that Maar had said before that he had intended using the shed for storage too. Tom saw it as a punishment for keeping Lek out late too at first, but he wasn’t bothered by it. He only slept there and it was cosier not having to look at all the empty space.
More importantly, it did not deter him from walking out with Lek. They took a walk after dinner most nights of the week and on Sunday afternoons and on Saturday, they usually met in Phichai. Lek often had to get her best friends to go with her or cover for her to throw her parents and the gossips in the village off the scent.
