Chapter 20 Jane meets a new fan

1667 Words
Jane's team prepared her for the days schedule. MT brought her a chai tea and made her eat some yogurt. She kind of liked the attention he had been giving her. She was worried about him now. She knew Jeff wanted to protect her and make sure MT had paid for what his family had done to her. She had a hard time calling him MT in public, it sounded like the word "empty." Something she herself had felt for the past 6 years, living alone. MT was planning a nice evening for Jane. He ordered some pizza and a bottle of nice French white wine. He knew that she had the day off tomorrow. Tonight would be the night. Jane wore a sequined little black dress today with a feathery black shawl to cover her shoulders. She had gold tone shoes with diamond accents that glittered. Her hair was braided and looped loosely around her head in a crown. Like a princess. They placed diamond accents in her blond hair. She sparkled like an ice skater. Her team made her face glow with peach tones. Jane looked like a movie star. Today she was meeting with American radio podcast host, Andrew Clay. Andrew was a huge Jane Knight fan. He usually did podcasts about murder and conspiracy theories. But today was special. He had wanted to give his Canadian fans a treat. He wanted to venture out of the dreary murder scene and into more interviews with lighter subjects. Jane only committed to the interview with Andrew Clay because of her friend Sasha. Sasha didn't miss a moment of Andrew's crazy personality. She begged Jane to do it. Jane normally steared clear of American media. She had a bad taste in her mouth from the humiliation she had once suffered at their cold hands. Jane was fitted for an ear piece. The radio crew had set up a camera and microphone for her in another room of her hotel. Andrew called her before the show. "Hey, I am such a fan of Jane Knight! You don't even know." Jane smiled. "I hope I don't disappoint you, I'm just a plane Jane in reality." He said, "Never admit to that my dear, it's all illusion, smoke, and mirrors over here as well." They were calling for Jane to set her mark. Sasha spoke to Andrew. "Please Andrew, no word about Jeff Allen and the wedding. She's nervous enough. If she mentions it, then it's fair game." Andrew reluctantly agreed. Jane and Jeff were a hot commodity. Jane's producer counted her down, " 3,2,1." The producer pointed at her, indicating her microphone was now hot. "My guest today is Canadian best selling author, Jane Knight. She has been heating up the charts, to the delight of her readers with her newest book in herRebel lovers series A rebels Mistress. Please welcome my guest, the beautiful, talented, inexhaustible Jane Knight!" Jane smiled her best interview smile. She said," So happy to be here. I am such a huge fan of the Hungry for a Murder podcast. I find it so fascinating and complex. You really take us down some conspiracy rabbit holes there!" Jane hadn't listened to one of Andrew Clay's podcast episodes. She didn't need to, Sasha told her every dirty detail. Andrew went on to promote her books and asked her, "Do you forsee any murder mysteries in your writing future?" Jane laughed. It was a beautiful laugh that endeared the viewer to her even more. "Well, never say never Andrew. I do have some new ideas for my next book. I am hoping your viewers might help me name the next heroine." Andrew clapped," Yes.... this will be fun. Let's take a few calls, caller number one." Andrew had previously teased this to his viewers having them call in for the program ahead of time. Sasha and MT were listening out of camera site. " Oh, Jane you gave my life new meaning with the Rebel love series. I mean it really heats up my s*x life, know what I mean. My husband buys me these books now. It's like you, yourself have lived through all of these moments. It seems so personal. I think the next heroine should be named Jane!" Jane raised her brow,"Well there is an idea!" Andrew patched in the next caller. "I want it to be Jane as well said the caller." Andrew said, "wait a minute, I recognized that voice, Jane do you know who it is?" She had no clue. She smiled, "of course I do," and shrugged. Andrew had set this all up. "Jeff Allen himself, the man, the myth, the playboy? Settling down with our very own Jane knight!" Sasha was pissed now. She stood up and made the sign with one finger across her neck like the death sign. She mouthed,"go to commercial, now!" The producer smiled and kept rolling. Jeff said ,"You got me! Yes, I plan to make a reputable woman out of Jane!" Jane laughed," Uh, Don't you mean that the other way around dear?" Playing her part. Jeff knew what he was doing, thought MT. It was a veiled threat to expose her and end her career. He moved over to the camera set and covertly pulled the plug on the equipment with his foot. No one noticed that he had done so, except Sasha. MT had ended the interview. Sasha was so happy. "Looks like we lost Jane there." said Andrew. Jeff laughed," Oh I know where she lives!" Everyone laughed. Jane was fine. She expected nothing less from Jeff. He was jealous of Max. She picked up the phone and called him. He said, "how did I do, Andrew was persistent in tracking me down for the show!" Jane said, "Oh was he now?" Jeff chuckled nervously. This woman could see right through him. Jane lied, "I am looking forward to seeing you this weekend. Please plan on buying me a very expensive dinner!" He knew how upset she was, she wanted to keep everything private. This now opened the door for all of her future interviews to reference his call to her. Jeff said he would make the reservations right now. He was aware that fancy dinners, or money never fixed things with Jane. She valued loyalty more. He just fractured that now. She took off her earrings, her shoes, and took her hair out of its confines and marched back to her suite. She was on fire. MT followed her. She entered the suite and slammed her room door. MT and Sasha left her alone. MT brought her a veggie wrap for lunch. He knocked lightly. Jane was in bed. She was naked. He saw her looking at him. Fire in her eyes. She commanded, "Max," she seethed, "come in and shut the damn door, lock it!" He put the food down and did as she had asked. She sat up exposing herself to him. "Come here, now!" He moved closer. She pulled him close and slapped his face. He was shocked. "What did I do?"... She pushed him down and told him not to move. He nodded. She straddled him and forced herself on him. When he tried to move or enjoy himself, she slapped him again. "Do not move!" She forced him to be still. She moved over him as he watched her. He felt dirty, he felt used. He understood what she was doing now. She was treating him exactly how he had treated her when he saw her that night in the hotel room. He felt her hot tears stream down her face and land on his chest. She held her hands over her eyes then and got off of him. He sat up. He held his face where she had slapped him. He understood. He felt shame. He got up and stood by her bed. She was lying still not moving. "Max, promise me now, you will just leave me alone." He nodded. Max left the room. He left the hotel. He ran along the street. He ran as fast as he could. He started to yell. He was so ashamed at how he had treated her. He ran until a car pulled up beside him. It was Sasha. "Get in!" He got in the car. "Your not leaving her, not now, not ever." She handed him a hotel key. "Your room is on the floor below ours. Do not tell Jane I am helping you! I don't know what just happened but, it was a break through for you both. Jane hasn't been able to show true emotion for years. She is herself with you. Jeff will destroy her spirit." MT nodded. Sasha said, "Another thing, no more MT. You are just Max. We need you to be only Max and your only job is to open your door when she knocks on it." He nodded. "I moved your things down to your new room. Please stay put, don't go back home." He agreed,"Wherever she goes, I go." She patted his red cheek. "She really got you didn't she?" He said."I deserved it." Max stayed in his room. He needed to see what was going on with her. He decided that he would need to place surveillance in her hotel room. He couldn't just sit there and do nothing. He was her security after all. When Sasha took Jane to get her nails done, he used his key card to enter her room. He had purchased a couple small cameras and placed them around in the ceiling sensors, in her room, at the front door. He made sure that they all worked and he left just as the elevator rang, signaling it was opening. He hid in the stair well. He saw her walk into the room. He went back down to his room and opened his computer. He promised he would stay away, he never promised he would stop protecting her.
