Jane Knight was dressed in a red suit today.
It had a frilly white blouse underneath, open in the front to reveal her chest.
The designer had advised using sticky tape to keep the bra-less blouse from exposing her too much.
She wore a long gold pendant that drew the eye down to her naval.
The jacket had large shoulders, it buttoned with a single gold button at the waist.
Jane looked sophisticated and sexy. The slacks fit like a glove. She wore gold pumps on her feet.
She had looked much younger with the blond hair.
MT called Jeff and told him a half truth. "Jeff the cyber threat actually originated from Jane Knight's house on the beach. I'm going on a hunch it is someone in her circle. I'm here with Sasha now.
Jane has requested the extra security for now, if I learn more about the team around her, I will report my findings to you."
Jeff was sweating, he knew that if MT spent too much time with Jane he would turn her against him.
He was p*ssed.
MT asked him, "There's no reason why I shouldn't investigate this further is there? This is why you hired me, right?"
Jeff couldn't debate this.
He would need to find an excuse to come supervise this situation.
"Fine, I will be there in one week myself to take over for you. She is my fiance after all."
MT knew now that he had a week to get Jamie back.
Jane met with her fans, she gave them everything that she had.
At night she went straight to her room and locked the door. She was exhausted.
MT asked Sasha, "Is it always like this for Jane when she's on tour?"
She smiled, "Tell me the truth, your name is Max Turner right. The Max Turner? Jane's ex?"
He nodded.
She asked him, "Did you come here to torture her, or to get her back, because right now I would say she is feeling tortured by you being here."
He looked her in the eye. "Jeff Allen is a crook. I want to keep her from making a huge mistake.
He sleeps with all of the girls at his office. He's known as a billionaire playboy."
She nodded. "Jane is aware, as far as I know, it doesn't bother her much.
She is not intimate with him. She is going to marry him anyway.
He has been very kind to her. She told him everything about her past, he proposed the same night."
He nodded."So it's not really a love match then?"
Sasha nodded. "As far as I know you were the love of her life. She is content to be alone now.
Jane doesn't have problems with her conscious.
She knows that she did everything she could to protect you, and your brothers, Aaron and Simon. We talked about it."
MT walked away from Sasha and went to Jane's room.
He knocked on the door. Jane got out of bed and let MT in.
" Hey, what's up?" She asked distractedly. She had been writing. MT told her he wanted to talk a moment.
"Jeff is arriving next week, I will be leaving then."
He wanted to gauge her response.
She nodded. He sat on the bed.
"Look I am in the middle of something," she said.
He picked up her manuscript. It was a steamy love scene.
He looked at her. "Seriously, this floats your boat?"
He mocked her story.
She angrily pulled it away from him.
"You wouldn't understand, it's about a woman's life. She finds romance in a dark place."
He nodded.
Jane told him that she no longer needed a man to satisfy her.
She was incapable of having those feelings anymore herself. He nodded.
Jane went back to her desk. "If you will excuse me, I am really busy now, it's how I support myself and Sasha."
He nodded. Jane went back to work, she had a smile on her face.
MT took off her red jacket for her. "Here, get this off, it looks so tight."
She absent-mindedly followed his instructions.
He saw her low cut white blouse and licked his lips.
He said,"Oh, those shoes look uncomfortable, let's get those off."
She held up her feet.
He took off his shirt and pants.
She didn't notice.
He came up behind her and kissed her neck. She turned her neck to allow him access.
He nibbled her ear lobe.
Jane turned to him then.
"Max, I'm working." He smiled.
"I know but you need to do research."
She laughed. It was a glorious sound to his ears. The ice was melting.
She stood up and opened her room door. " Bye bye."
He smiled softly and left her room. She had called him Max. He accepted it as a small victory.
The next day...
Jane waved to her fans, she signed all of the books and hobbled to the waiting car, wearily taking off her stilettos.
She sat back into the seat of the car that Sasha had sent for her. MT was inside.
He rubbed her feet. Sasha had stayed behind to give the two of them some space to talk.
Jane asked for some water.
MT opened a bottle took a sip and handed it to her.
She thanked him.
He walked her up to the elevator of the suite. She yawned.
He gently took her into her room and made her eat a few bites of food.
She barely ate a thing.
She turned on her desk lamp and pulled out her manuscript.
MT frowned. "Jane, you need to sleep."
"Max, this is me now. I just work, that's all I do. That's all I have done since I came to Canada. I don't know anything else now."
Max loved that she continued to call him by his name.
He tried to call her Jamie once, she didn't respond.
He knew that she was still leary of him, since the first night when he had hurt her so bad.
He wasn't able to push her now because he had no right to.
It was killing him.
Jane asked him to please leave her alone.
He sat down on her bed.
"I cant."
She told him,"I'm engaged to your boss, I made a commitment to Jeff."
"I know Jamie, but he's not a good guy!"
She smiled with her mouth closed.
"He never forced me."
Max turned red. She was right. He had forced her. He had hurt her.
He couldn't take it back.
" Max, go."
He left her then.
She slid down the closed door. She sat on the floor and put her face in her hands.
She wanted to love him so bad, she couldn't get past his anger towards her that night.
She didn't trust him anymore.
She didn't know him.
Max wanted to find a way in, any way that he could.
He took care of her.
He would keep it up and try to get her use to him being around.
He didn't have much time left.
Sasha spoke to MT, " Why is she fighting you?"
He lowered his eyes. "I forced her, I was so mad at her for running away. I hit her. I hurt her."
He had tears in his eyes, saying it out loud. It made him feel sick.
Sasha came to him and hugged him.
"I think she would have kicked your butt if she thought that were true. She knows why you treated her that way. It's not right. She needs time."
He looked at her. "I don't have time, Jeff is coming at the end of the week. I'm leaving then."
Sasha sat him down. "It's worse than that, I saw"...she didn't know how to say what she saw.
He said, "Tell me."
Jeff has pictures of you with some red head. She looks young and the pictures look like you beat her up. I think he plans on releasing them to the press."
MT remembered the red head.
He wondered why Sasha didn't believe he had hurt the girl, especially after what he had just revealed to her.
" Jeff's hand was in the last picture, I recognized his ring."
"Ah, then he set me up. I had wondered if the girl had drugged me.
I never saw her again after that night. I never slept with her, not knowingly. Does Jane know this?"
Sasha shook her head- no.
"Don't tell her, she hates me already, this will only make it worse."
Sasha had planned to tell Jane, her loyalty was to her alone. She just couldn't do it during the book tour.
So she agreed not to tell her, for now.
Jane was listening at the door. She heard every word.
She couldn't let Jeff hurt Max the same way that she had been hurt.
