37 Max's family makes amends.

Max took Jamie aside. He wanted to have a tender moment with his wife to celebrate the baby coming.

" I wish I had taken a moment to look at those pictures. You really surprised me."Max said.

Jamie smiled. " It was killing me Max. I wanted to tell you. But Emmy said to wait."

He pulled her close. "Every day that we are together, it's like heaven. I am so lucky that you let me love you again. When I think about everything I did to you, at that hotel that night. I am so ashamed. I should have trusted you, I knew you weren't the person that I had convinced myself you were. All my frustrations turned towards hatred. My heart was frozen. I never stopped looking for you. When I saw you on the back of your book cover, I felt seared to my soul. You are my world. Now your having my baby I....I'm so happy." Max had tears in his eyes.

Jamie put her head on his shoulder. They stood there holding eachother in a tight embrace. She reached up and kissed his lips. She rubbed his tears away with her thumbs. "Let's go have dinner with your family. It's so good seeing the boys again."

Aaron ran upstairs looking for Jamie. He saw them kissing upstairs. He cleared his throat.

" Uh, Max can I talk to Jamie alone for a minute?"

Max nodded and turned to walk away. He turned back and suddenly swept Jamie up into his embrace again and kissed her deeply. He pulled back and kissed her hand. "A baby!"He cried.

Aaron was looking down. He was shy around Jamie. He was afraid to ask her what he wanted to talk to her about.

"Aaron come here please." She held out her arms.

Aaron moved into her embrace. "Tell me son how are you?"

He looked into her eyes. "I want to come work for you. I want to move here. Do you think I could maybe be your house manager, or I could take care of the baby. I can't go home. I hate it there. Please Jamie?"

Jamie nodded. " You are 17?"

"No I'm 18 now. I am an adult."

Jamie smiled. "I will hire you on one condition, you need to go to school. Find something you are interested in and I will pay for your schooling. In exchange you will help me around the house."

Aaron frowned. "I will take it, on one condition, you have to convince mother that you really want me here. She might be hurt if it's my idea to leave."

" Leave that to me Aaron, I will handle everything." He kissed her cheek. " Thank you miss Knight." She smacked his arm.

"Jamie, just Jamie." She said.

Max came up to grab his jacket. He noticed that Jamie was laying on their bed. She had her back to him. He layed beside her. "You okay?"

She yawned, " I just got so tired. Must be that baby thing. I feel a little queesy."

Max rubbed her back. "Aaron is staying with us while he goes to school here. Can you put him in the basement apartment. He will be helpful to have around when I need him, plus I think he's sweet on our Emmy."She said.

Max nuzzled her neck.

" Anything you want my dear." He swept her soft hair back out of her face. He told her to rest and he would take care of the guests. He went down to entertain his family.

Simon came up the stairs looking for Jamie.

"Jamie can I come in?" He knocked on the door. She sat up in bed and called him to her.

" Simon, come in."

He lay down on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

"I missed you so much. Max was a wreck when you left. He looked for you. He went to Mexico, until mom cut him off her credit card. He even hired a private investigator."

Jamie teared up. " I didn't know that."

" Mom even tried to call you after you left, we didn't go to school, we couldn't eat. She tried to find you. She saw how much we needed you. I just thought you should know all of that." Jamie held his hand as he lay there beside her.

" Jamie, that day that we were all sick and throwing up. You took care of us, even when dad left us. You didn't leave. You just helped us and put us in your bed.

I never forgot that time. For once, I knew someone really cared. You cared. Jamie, I know that Max is your husband now, but I will....always love you."

Jamie was full on crying now. She could barely speak. "You were always my favorite you know. Don't tell the others."

Simon got up and left her now.

Shortly after that Karen knocked on her bedroom door.

Jamie said," Come in."

Karen sat at the end of her daughter in laws bed.

" I wanted to talk to you. I never told you how much I appreciated everything you did for me. The boys were so heartbroken when you left. I didn't know that the lawyer took your phone. I tried to call you. I just needed to tell you. We were wrong, I was wrong. I want you to start over with me, please."

Jamie sat up and hugged her mother in law. " You could do me a favor then. I want Aaron to stay with me. He can go to school up here and live here. Max will be busy with Tim and the new business."

Karen agreed. "I think he would like that." She left to go back down stairs.

Jamie got up from the bed and went to the balcony. She stood out in the wind as it whipped around her head. She thought about all of the things that Max's family had said to her. She felt a renewal.

She turned to go back inside and saw Tim standing in her room, looking for her.

" Jamie, a minute please. I wanted you to know that I screwed up. I thought I knew what was best for me and the boys. I was wrong. You are the best thing that ever happened to our family." He cleared his throat. " I'm sorry."

Jamie hugged him then. "You can make it up to me when I need a babysitter for this baby."

He smiled,"I'm gonna be a grabdpa." He walked her down stairs.

They ate their meal and Emmy and Aaron talked about different colleges that he might attend. He really wanted to be a pilot. Emmy liked that.

They all laughed at eachother and told stories into the night.

When the sun dipped into the water, they sat outside and drank wine and ate some cookies that Emmy made for dessert. Max took care of everyone.

Jamie felt sad. She should have stayed and married Max all those years ago. So much lost time.

Max intertwined her fingers with his. " Isn't this magical. It's extra sweet knowing all that we have been through."

She frowned. "I just wish that I could do it all over again. I would have married you then. We knew we were in love. I think that's why I feel so sad."

He picked her up and held her in his arms. "Good night everyone, Emmy, please show everyone where they will be sleeping. See you all in the morning." he said.

Jamie held onto to him as he carried her upstairs. Jamie was locked in his embrace. She let him undress her. He took his time making love to her. It was a time for love. To every season turn, turn, turn.
