Lucky Day

Chapter 3 - Giselle "What are you doing?" Scaring me as he showed up out of nowhere, Aaron asked me, coming up through the back door as it was a common thing to do. "... Ed-Eddy asked me for some hot cocoa, so I'm doing it for him." Recalling how the pup had also asked for the same thing a few days ago, I could only get happy while thinking about the cute face he always did when I gave it to him. "You're spoiling him too much." But of course, his dad had to end my enjoy while saying so. "Besides, it's not already too late for him to drink it?" "Yeah, if it were a weekday, I wouldn't give it to him this late." Agreeing with him, I started to say before my words were the one annoying him now. "However, tomorrow is Sunday, and even you said before that he could sleep a little late on weekends, so we'll go watch a couple of movies before he goes to bed." Without taking my eyes from the hot drink, I finish saying prior a silence seemed to have taken over our kitchen while I felt his eyes on me. "... W-what?" Honestly, I couldn't remember the last time that I talked for so long with Aaron... Even when he had to come to me to ask or mention something about Eddy or his school, we just exchanged a few words. And most of the time, it was almost like someone was forcing him to do so by how fast Aaron disappeared after doing taht... So, in other words... It was pretty strange to see him like this, staying in the same place as me for more than five minutes when our conversation had already ended too. ... And as much as I didn't like to think about it, that simple thing made my heart beat faster by the silly idea of my Mate giving me some attention for the first time... "... I was just amazed to think that you can speak up for yourself sometimes. After all, who would think the Weak Alpha was capable of something like this?" Leaving me with an answer that wasn't very pleasant, he walked away from the kitchen without saying anything else while I continued to feel as if the world had turned upside down and stars were still surrounding us until he opened his mouth... But what else could I expect from him? Sometimes I couldn't understand why I would assume things would be different between us when nothing changed since we met years ago. Pretty much anyone could say that we were almost like strangers as the only relationship between us was the one created by Eddy and his bond with me, which made me officially his nanny. ... Although Aaron wasn't very happy with that at first, paying several teenagers and babysitters to take care of the pup before he had no other choice than ask for my help... "Hey!!! How long takes to do simple hot cocoa?! Eddy doesn't stop asking for it!" The yelling coming from the living room was what wake me up seconds before all the drink spilled over the stove by luck while I recognized it as Ronnie's voice. "I'm putting it on the mug. Wait for just another second!" Even if I didn't shout my answer back, I knew the little one could hear me perfectly fine. However, I couldn't say the same about his younger uncle, who was a Human... "Here. Now, we can watch some movies as much as you watch." I mentioned, putting a smile on Eddy's face before I sit beside him after giving a mug that wasn't too hot to him and another to Ronnie, who looked annoyed at me as the same couldn't be said about his... And a few minutes later, Edward ended up sleeping on my lap before the first movie had even ended as I already expected. "What happened with the long list of movies that he was planning to watch with us tonight?" Laughing, his uncle eventually commented as he remembered the words the little one had said to us before we started watching a superhero animation. He was addicted to it recently to the point of believing that it was the same as being a Werewolf. "Mom took him earlier to the Pack's house today, and he spends the whole day there with her, playing with the other puppies, so it would be pretty amazing if he stayed up for much longer than that." Without thinking too much about what I was saying, I distracted myself while running my hand through his hair. And once more during that week, I ended up thinking about how incredible genetics was for making him look so much like his father... "So, that was the real reason why you left he drink hot cocoa this late." Scaring me for the second time that night, Aaron said out of the blue while I realized how distracted I was since I didn't notice his presence there at all. ... Ronnie probably being the one who had texted him to come and take Eddy to his room... And speaking about him, it was just then that I saw the teenager wasn't in the living room anymore... "Ro already went back to his room." As if he could read what was going on in my mind, Aaron said with Edward in his arms. "He commented something about you being completely charmed by Eddy's cuteness or something like that, and I can see now that he wasn't so wrong at all." Like an i***t, I couldn't understand why his words made me so embarrassed as I felt my face turning red and a subtle smile showed on his lips before he left me there alone... Wondering what was going on as I had never seen one like this on his face before... Or at least, not for me. And, oh, Goddess... I could only think it had been a very lucky day.
