Chapter 4 - Past
It wasn't something new when Alpha Dylan called all the Werewolves of Mirror Night to meet in the woods behind the Pack's House.
Once in a while, they had these kinds of meetings... And especially on that day, everyone already seemed to know what was expecting them out there.
... Rumors had been running around their Pack for quite some time now, and after Noah moved away with his Mate, such things just become stronger than ever as... Everyone wanted to know who would be their next Alpha...
Mirror Night wasn't an old Pack, and Dylan was their first Alpha, so it was tough for them to think about someone else in his place, despite the few futures dominant wolves that they had among the youngest.
... Some names already mixed with the rumors, too, since they believed these to be the strongest candidates after Noah...
But of course, Giselle's wasn't one of these...
Standing there with everyone else, that was the first time in a very long time that their Alpha couple hadn't told her about what the meeting was or how they were planning to do it on that evening... Leaving her surprised with such news when her young step-brother told them about it after coming back from his training.
... Yet, nothing of this mattered now as they waited for Dylan and Magnolia to show up before the Werewolves felt a familiar scent...
Noah was beside the Alpha couple when they went up on the stage they built there a couple of years ago.
And as his eyes met with her, a smile soon appearing on his lips, leaving Giselle puzzled about why he was in that meeting too before the others also confused wolves started to whisper among them, triggering even more rumors in the woods.
Some were saying that the young man had regret leave for sure, while others believed Alpha Dylan would announce that Noah would take his place, giving the Pack to him, even if he no longer lived on their land.
... The noises were all around before their leader's growl made everyone quiet, even the little ones...
Holding his father's hand, little Edward had no idea what was going on, but seeing the adults acting in such a way made him anxious too, and slyly, he held Elle's hand as well.
... The she-wolf was like a mother to him, so no one was better than her to calm him down...
Aaron soon noticed this, yet something about that day made him think twice before he decided to pretend he hadn't seen anything when Alpha Dilan started talking.
... His words were exactly as everyone there imagined about the future of their Pack...
Without wasting a second, he explained to everyone how he intended to pass his title on next spring to the Alpha best suited to lead them since, unlike him... The young wolves who moved or were born on those lands were far better for this than him as he never imagined being a leader of a Werewolf Pack in the past.
Such words quickly caused several disagreements as the Werewolves started to say with smiles on their faces about how there was no better Alpha for them than Alpha Dylan and his Mate Magnolia, who thanked them with tears in her eyes.
However, it didn't take long for the meeting to proceed when someone asked them if Noah would be their new leader, causing Owen to protest that it wasn't fair immediately.
... He was also a future Alpha, born in Mirror Night like Giselle, so he wouldn't allow anyone to take their Pack from him without a fight...
"There is nothing to worry about, Owen." Allowing his eyes to leave the member who was brave enough to ask that question, Dylan answered the young Alpha before allowing his attention to go to everyone else there. "Noah is present here as he will be on that day to allow it to be a fair fight."
Once more, rumors were beginning to spread among the wolves after hearing that, and the explanation Dylan gave them afterward about how they would handle the selection of their new leader.
... Any future Alpha present in their Pack would be invited to join it.
However, if they decided not to participate, they couldn't complain about the results afterward, having only two choices to follow...
Accept their new leader or leave Mirror Night... Which was ironically the only choices the losers would have as well.
... And that being said, Alpha Magnolia soon began calling out the names of all the young dominant wolves that lived there, and when everyone thought she was done, she said the last one that was the biggest surprise of the evening...
"Owen Carter and... Giselle Williams. I hope all these young wolves won't waste this chance, giving their best while training so that we can have the fairest fight for the Alpha's title in the coming up spring." As that wasn't pretty surprising news, the older she-wolf finished saying with a smile on her face while for Elle...
It was the beginning of her nightmare, as if her mating was a big one enough.
