Chapter 53 - Present - Giselle
The fact that Giselle wasn't seeing anyone at the moment was true, yet the mere idea the other man had pointed this out to him annoyed Aaron.
He wanted to say it wasn't true, revealing the truth of his step-sister's feelings for him to her ex, and it was probably what the Human would have done if he was still a teenager.
But he already had passed this stage years ago, he was an adult now and the father of the little boy who was a few steps ahead with the she-wolf's grandmother, so he couldn't behave like that.
"No... She doesn't." Locking his jaw, he answered Conab with the truth.
"See? I wasn't wrong after all." And as if to challenge him... The nurse displayed a smirk only for Aaron to see along, with a look in his eyes that told him the other man knew about the truth between him and Giselle...
But that didn't bother him as he was there for her.
"So... May I know now if she still works here?" Returning his attention to Cora, the gentle smile from earlier came back to Conan's face. "I wanted to talk and let her know that I'll be staying in town for the next few days in case she wants to meet and hang out any of these days."
Like a cat or dog begging for something, his green eyes sparkled while saying that to the old lady, who was already more than charmed by the man, who was likely to be in his early thirties from what she could judge by his appearance.
The chances that she was wrong were slim as Humans were much easier to read than the Supernatural races, who could easily change their appearance to a more youthful one over the years, hiding their real age.
... Reason why Conan initially thought she could be Giselle's mother...
"I'm sorry, darling. Something must have happened, or she would have been here already by this time." Letting her eyes travel to the door, Cora commented, wondering why her granddaughter was late that afternoon. "... But if you want to leave your number, I can let her know that you were here and asked her to call or text you later... OH! I just realized that I didn't ask your name. I'm sorry, honey."
"Thank you. I would appreciate that, and I'm Conan, by the way." Thinking he hadn't missed his trip at least, the man flashed another of his smiles that won over the older she-wolf before handing her a piece of paper with his current phone number. "I've tried to keep the same number for the past few years, but I don't know if she still has my contact info, seeing how the last time I tried to call her, no one answered my call."
Not sure if Elle had deleted it or just changed her number for whatever reason that could exist, Conan finished saying before leaving to Aaron's relief, before Cora asked him if he wasn't late for his own work, causing the man to rush back to his job…
... Still keeping in mind the thoughts of how he disliked the other man, whom he didn't even know.

"NEVER. EVER. Dare to disobey me again!" If anyone thought thunders were scary, it was because they had never encountered an angry Alpha Dylan before.
His growls could be heard from afar, and the gentleman we knew would completely disappear from his gaze on those rare occasions like the one Owen met right now.
... A more than embarrassing situation for a dominant wolf like him, despite the fear he must still be feeling because the other man who was still our Alpha...
Honestly, I would rather not be here while Owen was listening to his scoldings, but that was inevitable due to where we are, so as if I wasn't seeing anything, I walked over to our Beta, who was talking to Paola.
"Elle? I thought you had already gone home." They were both surprised to see me here, yet the teenager was the first to state that.
"I was planning when Alpha Magnolia told me about what Dylan told her. She also mentioned something about Owen almost attacking one hunter earlier, so does it mean there were more than one of them this time?"
"A couple mixed among normal hunters, and I'm starting to suspect they were using them to hide in plain view from us." The Beta was the one who informed me about this, even sharing his own theory with me.
"That makes sense. Even if we notice their presence, it's hard to tell who they are amidst other hunters, who don't know what they're actually dealing with and must be borrowing weapons that can hurt us from them."
"Exactly. And since we never attack normal Humans, that gives an extra advantage for them to watch us without any risk." This time, he was the one who agreed with me, while Paola did the same in silence.
"Oh! I was almost forgetting! But what happened for Owen to act like that and don't follow Alpha Dylan's orders?" Remembering what made me most puzzled earlier, I asked no one specific, only to see the two exchange glances before the other she-wolf made an unexpected comment before answering me.
"Well...that's where it all gets weird.
