Chapter 35 - Present - Aaron
“... as I respect you too much for that!”
Surprising Giselle, the younger she-wolf told her, staring into her eyes as a way to make sure she would believe her words.
… Yet, she never got to thank her for that…
"There is no need for you to apologize, Paola. As she told you, there must be some kind of mistake, and everyone will see that when spring arrives."
Intervening between the two, Owen corrected the teenager, showing his annoying smirk that kept provoking Giselle, even if the skinny Alpha didn't necessarily understand why.
"... We should go now, Paola. Shade is probably far right now, seeing how much time we've wasted here."
However, despite this, Elle didn't let her emotions get the better of her, proving once more how different she was from the other future Alphas to the young woman watching her closely.
The teenager could tell from behind her emotionless face that she was holding back at that moment, seeing how Elle's hands gave her away to Paola before they headed off into the woods...
Both remained quiet the whole time, without saying a word until Giselle reminded her which direction to take, and the two of them followed different paths.

Seeing how cheerfully Eddy was getting ready to pick up Giselle from the Pack's house amazed not only me but also the other members of my family as... He appeared to be another child now, once again behaving well, just like the little boy I had raised with their help.
"Are you sure you want to go alone? We can always go with you, or I can call Danny to give you a ride there since he and Mirella will be coming over later in any way."
While my stepmother helped Ed put on his beanie, my father began to say, worried that my health might worsen again if I were exposed to the cold weather outside.
"I'm fine, Dad. Better than ever, if I must be honest with you."
"Still... You should be careful since we don't know what happened to you." Yet, without believing in any word of mine, he added, closing my jacket with a look in his eyes that gave away just how worried he was.
"I will be, don't worry. It'll not take long for us to get to the Pack's house like I promised Edward, and we'll be right back." Without further ado, that was all I said to him before I took Eddy in my arms, and we headed toward the Pack's house with my car to see his favorite person as soon as possible...
She had left so early today that he hadn't seen her since he woke up, but the cookies she had left had helped to soothe him of whatever worries he might have that she could disappear again without telling anyone.
... My stepmother was the one who told him where she was when she gave him a cup of hot vanilla milk along with my coffee as usual...
After that, he spent a few distracted hours watching his favorite cartoons on TV until the doorbell rang, and he rushed to the door, hoping it was Giselle until he realized by the scent that it didn't belong to her even before my father opened the door.
And then, with eyes glued to the big watch on the wall, he spent the next few minutes until I asked him if he would like to go there with me to express my gratitude for the concern shown by the Alphas couple towards me.
They had sent everything I might need, like medicine and food that could feed the entire soccer team, to even the Pack's doctor, who came to see me at home and later at the hospital.
... But of course, none of this mattered to my son, who only had one single person on his mind...
“AUNT ELLE!!!”
