Doubts

Chapter 50 - Present - Giselle Ex-boyfriend… … That he was her ex-boyfriend… … Her ex-boyfriend. Both Aaron and Cora were equally shocked by that fact, even if it wasn't possible to say their reasons were the same. The old she-wolf knew that her granddaughter was no longer a child for years now, as it was always Sabrina's concern... Yet the young woman had never commented about her love life with Cora before, so at some point, the stylist began to believe that perhaps Elle had decided to wait for her Mate as many wolves would also do among their kind. It wasn't uncommon for Werewolves to do something like this at all, and especially the younger ones loved to try their luck before starting any romantic relationship with other wolves from their Pack or people who were attracted to them as other Supernatural beings or even Humans. “You… You’re her ex?” But as already mentioned, it wasn't the reason behind Aaron's astonishment or his question. The Human man who lived at the Pack for quite a long time couldn't remember exactly when he began to notice this or even when he reached the conclusion that he was right about his thoughts. Yet, despite that, as far as he could recall, the fact that he was aware his step-sister had feelings for him made him believe that she never had anyone because she was waiting for a chance to be with him... Although she was always too shy to ask for a date or anything like this from him. "Yes, I'm her ex. We dated for a short time while she was in college." However, reality proved to be more complicated, messy, and different from what he thought. "Oh, Goddess! When did our little Elle find such a handsome boyfriend like you?! And she didn't even tell me a thing about you!" Giselle's grandmother's reaction was one of the most natural things anyone could hear, bringing several chuckles from Conan before the man thanked her for the compliment when she forgot to pretend to be Human as usual with her words. "But tell me, dear. May I ask why you two broke up?" Showing a smile to him, which was a thousand times friendlier and more receptive than the one from earlier, Cora brought the big question to the table without delay, not caring that she didn't know the unknown male's name yet. The stories of her granddaughter's mysterious love life seemed so much more interesting to her then than anything else at this moment that she even forgot about the presence of her daughter's stepson and his pup, who was still holding her legs. "Sadly, I must say that we were not meant for each other." Conan's words sounded as if they came out of a novel and made Aaron disgusted just by listening to them. "If you weren't made to be together, then what are you doing here? Why do you want to see her again?" And that being said, it was obvious that he wouldn't be able to keep his thoughts to himself, even though Cora appeared to be loving what she was hearing. "It might be true, but I've realized over the years that it doesn't mean anything. Destined people can still meet at the wrong time or under the wrong circumstances, so why couldn't we give ourselves a chance to try again and be happy when still single, based on what our friends have told me. Or... Does she have someone now?" * * * With a strange sensation rushing down my spine, I wondered if something bad was about to happen as I couldn't erase that feeling from the back of my mind while I made my way back to the Pack's house. It was hard to define what it could be in between my situations, but trying to keep my thoughts positive, I decided not to ponder too much about it, as it wouldn't do any good for my unborn pup. And as I walked into the house wrapped in one of the old blankets that lay outside, I knew I would need to see a doctor soon to ensure everything was okay as I was already beginning to wonder if I wasn't too thin for someone pregnant. ...I wasn't sure if I should already be showing a little bump or not, and although I already knew that every pregnancy could be different from each other, such worries would come to my mind once in a while... Everything I could find online didn't help much either, as most of them were for Humans and didn't mention things such as whether a Hybrid child could be born as a wolf or not, like what sometimes happened with Werewolf couples. ... Usually, the pregnancy was shorter in these cases, not much more than six months... So beyond limiting the doctors I could consult, it wasn't exactly good for me as I felt that I needed at least thirty-eight weeks to be ready for this and all the changes that would come with this new life. I recalled that sometimes the Pack doctor would come to talk to us about it and how the shape we were when we... Well, put the pup in the oven influenced it. But like most teenagers, it was so embarrassing to hear him talking about this as we believed we already knew all the things we should know, and just like that, he was always interrupted by some boy who started making jokes about what he was talking about then. "You all should be paying attention to this. Soon enough, you will all be looking for your Mater, wanting to mate like crazy, so don't tell me I didn't warn you when it happens." Honestly, wanting to remember more about what he had told us, I couldn't deny that he was right when Alpha Magnolia stopped me on my way to work. I was already a few minutes late, and I didn't want to bother Grandma with Eddy when she was going to be alone in the store today. "I promise you it will only take a minute, Sweetie."
