Chapter 49 - Present

A few days had passed since Giselle's talk with the Winter Witch, and as the other woman had told her, the potion she had given the she-wolf had made Elle feel much better after taking it, also helping Edward with the nightmares the pup was having.

And slowly, most things seemed to be returning to normal without anyone having to think too much about it.

That was the last day, the Pack would follow the temporary rules imposed in the past month, or at least, those were Alpha Dylan's plans in case nothing unusual happened again that would make him change his mind.

… So everyone could only hope for the best…

“Welcome!” As soon as the store door was open, an old lady received Conan with a very familiar smile to him. “How may I help you? Are you looking for a gift? For someone special perhaps?”

Even the way she spoke was very similar to Giselle in his mind that the man could only assume the woman was her mother or someone related to her.

“Thank you, but I’m just looking for… An old friend of mine.” Recalling how she had called him the last time they met, Conan said, putting a smile on his lips. “She told me that she used to work here before, and as far as I know, she started to work here again after college.”

“... She used to work here?” Such words left Cora wondering at first until someone came to her mind, yet before she said anything about it, someone else showed up at the boutique.

... The pup soon ran right away towards her as if he hadn't seen her yesterday...

"I'm sorry, Cora. We didn't mean to get in your way."

Conan didn't need any introduction to know the older woman was Giselle's grandmother after hearing her name, and as he glanced at the other man who had just arrived... The same could be said about him.

… Elle was someone who always loved to talk about her family and all the cherished people from her hometown, so it was strange the nurse knew about them as he had tried his best to memorize each of them while trying to win her heart in the past…

"It's okay, sweetheart. I'm already used to it." The she-wolf commented, answering him briefly before allowing her attention to go back to the unknown man she had spoken to earlier. "You mentioned that she worked here... Are you by any chance talking about my granddaughter, Giselle?"

Confirming what he already knew, Conan smiled once more, yet before he could answer Cora's question, he was the one who was interrupted by Edward this time.

“AH! The old friend!”

The pup was able to tell that the Human's scent was familiar, but it was only when he looked at him that the little one remembered from where he knew Conan.

"Thanks for the lollipops! I shared them with my friends since I couldn't eat them all alone!" And remembering what Giselle had told him after seeing how many candies her ex had given him, Edward expressed his gratitude once more as he had learned from his Mommy.

"Do you know him, Eddy?" stealing the words Aaron wanted to ask his son, the old lady asked the cub first before he told her yes without mentioning where he had seen him before.

"He's aunt Elle's old friend." Innocently, he completed his answer, seeing how Giselle had never told him anything about keeping their meeting with Conan a secret as she did about their little visit to the other town.

"You're right, bud. I'm your aunt Elle's old friend, but I'm not only that..." Conan quickly agreed with the pup, letting his attention go to him first while putting a hand on Eddy's head before adding up to what the she-wolf had told him that day. "I'm also her ex-boyfriend, who would love to see her again."
