Chapter 51 - Giselle

"... it will only take a minute, Sweetie."

As much as I would like to leave that conversation for another day, it would be simply impossible that I could refuse Alpha Magnolia after listening to her say it in such a way.

Her talks were rarely about silly things when she called one of us in private like this, unlike when she would meet us randomly around the Pack's house.

"Don't worry. If Cora complains about anything, you can say it was my fault, okay?" Her voice was gentle at the mention of my grandmother's name, and taking my hand in hers, I forgot for a moment that I had no other choice but to agree with her.

Silently following her into Alpha Dylan's office, I was starting to get a little worried because of her pretty atypical behavior... And honestly, now that I thought about it, maybe it was the first time I had seen her so serious in years.

"... How can I help you, Alpha?" She hadn't even finished closing the door when I asked her such a question, confused about what it all could be about...

Maybe she and Alpha Dylan had finally accepted my request not to take part in the competition, despite what they had announced to the Pack?

But at the same time, I couldn't imagine she would call me here just for that, besides the fact that I would need to ask them to forget about what I had said before if I wanted to pay Winnie back as promised.

The Witch should live far away from our Pack, yet I did not doubt that she would call me right away at the very moment I gave it up, based on all our previous conversations and how she always knew what was happening to me before it even happened.

... The scariest part of her powers for me, if I could say so since even though I feared the future, I also didn't want to know it ahead of time...

"How have you been doing lately, Sweetie? Are you completely better now?"

But back to my conversation with Alpha Magnolia, she answered me back with questions instead of the actual reply that could make sense to me.

"... Yes... I'm doing just fine." Unsure of how I could possibly respond to her without sounding like I was thinking she was crazy for asking me this after quite a while, it was all I said to her.

"Are you sure there is nothing you want to tell me about, Elle?" This time, using the nickname everyone in the Pack called me by, she continued to inquire, clearly wanting me to tell her something without being the one to bring it up.

... But exactly about which of them could she be suspecting?

Alpha Magnolia and her Mate were always the ones I looked for when I wanted to talk about something I couldn't tell my family... Or at least they were until the last events of my life made me fear even their reactions.

... So, it wasn't a lie when I said I didn't know what she was referring to when she asked such a question...

"Yes, I am. But thanks for asking, Alpha Magnolia." Putting a smile on my face, I hoped it would divert her attention about whatever it was that she wanted to talk to me. "The schedules over the past few weeks have been more draining than I expected for all of us, but I'm much better now, happy that everything is calming down back to normal again."

My only intention was merely to distract her with such words. However, Alpha Magnolia seemed to catch up much more between the lines than I could imagine by the way that she looked at me.

"If this is what you say, I will believe you for the time being, but I want you to remember that you're always welcome to stay in the Pack's house any time you want in your favorite room, just like any other member."

Taking both my hands in hers once again, she made me stop breathing without me even noticing, just by assuming she had found out about this a lot more quickly than I expected...

I knew she had great abilities, but I hoped it would take a little longer after Winnie had told me that it would be practically impossible for even another Werewolf to find out about it usually.
