Chapter 12 - Present
Most of the wolves back at the Pack's house were already dressed up again and enjoying the rest of their evening with music, food, and good conversation when Giselle and Jiya joined them.
Alpha Magnolia was there too, helping to put the rest of the snacks outside so the others could enjoy them after they returned while her husband was spending the rest of his energy running a few more laps with his Dominant Wolves.
… Anyone could say it was a consequence of him becoming an Alpha right after he was turned into a Werewolf, making the simple rounds that would tire out the other wolves, just not enough for him…
But back at the Pack's house, Mirror Night's female leader wasn't the only person close to the young Alpha who was there either, as her mother soon met her before Elle even saw her and her stepfather.
And not wasting a second, Charles removed his sleeping grandson from her back while thanking her for taking care of the boy for them.
"... Eddy told me that Mirella wasn't feeling well earlier. How is she now? And where are the others?"
Giselle would like to ask about her Mate, in fact... About where the father of the pup was and other things like this. Yet, even then, she was afraid to ask without ending up unintentionally revealing her true feelings by mistake.
"Yeah, Daniel took her to rest in one of the rooms in the Pack's house for now since she said it was no big deal. But when he came down to get them something to eat, he told me he wants to take her to see a doctor if she's still feeling sick tomorrow."
Yet in her Wolf self, the young woman listened thoughtfully to her stepfather's answer as he seemed pretty concerned with his daughter-in-law while Elle hoped that his other son could be this caring to his Mate as his eldest was.
… But at the same time, she knew it was a distant dream to even think about being true…
"Mirella has told these two that they're being a little too dramatic, and I even told Daniel to wait a few more days to see how she will feel before taking her to see the doctor. As I believe the only news we will have is about how our family will grow up more in a few months."
Joining their conversation, Sabrina mentioned before pointing to little Edward, who was now sleeping in her arms.
"I'm quite certain that soon Eddy will no longer be alone as the grandchild of the D'Alberto family, even if this pretty soon to confirm through her scent." Her words were easy to understand, and they made sense when anyone thought about how difficult it was for a Werewolf to get sick.
Illnesses were rare among Supernatural beings, but like ordinary Humans, they were simpler to appear when an individual already had some kind of problem in their body or when they were older.
... Or rather, in their case, very, very, very older...
"... I see. I hope this is true. That would be good news." Despite wanting to be happy for the couple, Giselle honestly couldn't find such emotions for it in her heart, managing only to hope that it wouldn't show on her face or amidst her words.
"That really would be, and I was just talking to Charles about how this was exactly how I felt when I was pregnant with you."
Mentioning a time that she rarely spoke about, Sabrina added before noticing what she had just done, soon changing the whole talk to something else.
"But back to what you asked, Aaron was talking to some friends inside the house, and Ronnie still has not returned with Quinn and Lucian, so we're waiting for them besides you and Eddie."
It wasn't as if the story of her birth was anything new to Giselle... So in that way, she decided to ignore how her mother started talking about the rest of their family members while something about their previous conversation was still bothering the young she-wolf.
... Elle couldn't tell what it was that was troubling her mind, but it disturbed her...
It was hard to tell if it was the fact that someone else from the Pack, besides her mother, had been accepted easily into the D'Alberto family as one of them.
Or whether it was because of the joys that the other she-wolf felt now, besides the ones she would have in the future, that made Giselle jealous of the couple.
... Yes! The she-wolf understood that she could only describe such emotions as jealousy, but she couldn't find out which one of them disturbed her so much that night when she used her unfinished work as an excuse to go back home early than usual...
All those were just empty words that anyone could easily see through if they thought about them a little more, especially if they recalled that she worked for her grandmother... Who was one of the Werewolves that accompanied their Alpha for a few more runs through their lands.
...Sabrina might not have enough breath to run after a few faster pups, but people could not say the same about her mother...
The silence was reassuring to Giselle as she closed the front door...
She liked the noises and conversations that had always existed around the house since they started living with Sabrina's Mate in that big family.
However... At certain times like those, the young Alpha woman missed the quiet hallways that allowed her to think a little better about anything she wished.
After all, she wanted to understand better the emotions she felt without having to put walls between them and the world while the words of the promise made to her mother still echoed in her mind as if she had just said it to Sabrina.
"... Maybe I should get something to drink?"
She asked herself, thinking aloud... Pondering about the best way to enjoy that little time alone she had when she gave up going upstairs.
