The Moon's Fault

Chapter 13 - Present - Giselle Drinking was something Giselle rarely did, and even more alone. Nevertheless, the strange emotions she felt stronger that day made her so disturbed that she didn't care about it when she chose one of the bottles from her mother's collection... They all might look similar to any other wine or champagne that could be found for sale, yet the difference between them to those ones was the liquids inside of them. ... Special mixtures created for Supernatural beings that might even be harmless to Humans if they didn't drink too much of it, but that would certainly not be recommended to them... "Where is it?" Searching for one in specific, Giselle could open any of those bottles that Sabrina wouldn't bother about it since she had already offered them to her daughter a few times before on different occasions. However, useless it was some sort of celebration, the young she-wolf usually refused it, even if she knew that those were her attempts to bring the broken bond between them closer again. ... They might even live in the same house, but only a foolish person couldn't see the strange relationship they both had over the years... "If you are looking for the one Sabrina gave you for your birthday, it is on the top shelf." But back to what Giselle was doing, the young woman almost dropped one of the bottles in her hand when she heard Aaron's voice out of nowhere. ... She was just so distracted that she didn't notice the noise of the front door opening or the strong presence of his scent, which now filled the room where they were standing... His scent was as intoxicating as ever to her, yet he seemed even stronger that night when he approached her. "She didn't want anyone to accidentally drink it, not even her, as she bought it as a gift for you. So, she put it up here." Cornering her against the wood piece... Aaron easily grabbed the bottle that was out of Giselle's reach while her eyes carefully followed his movements, and her heartbeat even faster in her chest. "Here it is. My father resealed it, so it wouldn't lose the flavor since you two just shared a glass on your birthday." Handing it to her, the man continued to say as if he couldn't feel the strange emotions of that night as well. ... That was the first time they had been so close to each other on a day like this one. So it was a challenge for Giselle to tell whether their bond was stronger than usual. Or if it has always been like this, and she never realized it since she was always busy avoiding it until then... She always made excuses for not being present with her family during the Solticies or Full Moons since she knew the attraction created by the Moon would be too strong for her to deny the truth standing before her. “... Tha… Thank you!” Recovering from the thoughts she shouldn't have, Giselle quickly said, putting distance between them again as she walked over to the couch, even though there was nothing she could do about her heart that was still beating fast and louder inside her. * * * "What are you doing here? And where are the others?" As I tried to forget how close he was to me earlier and that we were alone at home, I asked him, easily pulling out with my hands the cork that had been put back in its original place as if the bottle had never been opened before. "... I was going to ask if you needed help with that as well or if you wanted me to get the corkscrew from the kitchen... But I can see that it's no longer necessary." Sounding much kinder than usual, one might think we were friends when Aaron said that to me with a little smile on his lips, which made me wonder if it wasn't a dream before he finally answered my questions. "They are still in the Pack's house. Or at least, everyone else but Ronnie, as I don't know where he went with his friends." Going off to the kitchen, he continued to say as he knew I could hear him perfectly fine from here. "Dad and Sabrina decided to stay there since Dad wanted to be closer in case Daniel needed some help with Mirella, especially after he saw how worried he was with his fiancée, even though she seemed to be fine already to me." Although I couldn't see him, I could easily picture what kind of face he must have been making on my mind while he talked about his older brother. ...Unlike Aaron, Daniel was the type who likes to spoil his girlfriends, and it was easy to remember everything he had done for the two of them that he had during the time we lived together, so it wouldn't be much different with his Mate... And I could only think that it would become even worse if what my mother told me earlier was true... He would spoil Mirella and their baby to death to the point where she wouldn't want to see his face for a few days, as she already did it from time to time. "It's not common for Werewolves to get sick, especially mated Wolves, so you can not blame him for being worried." Seeing him return to the living room with another glass in his hand, I mentioned before asking about Eddy while other thoughts of mine should be showing on my face when his reply wasn't anything related to this. "I hope you don't mind sharing some with me." As if he wasn't already serving himself, he spoke, still standing while I remained quiet on my corner, motionless without knowing what to say then since I merely loved every second I could stary more in my Mate's presence. "And you know how Ed is sometimes... When he woke up and saw all the other pups playing, he just didn't want to come home with me anymore, making Dad and Sabrina tell me that I could leave him with them tonight if I wanted to, so he could enjoy the whole Solstice night a little more." Unable to stop my eyes from following each one of his little actions. I barely paid attention to his words as I watched the drink disappearing from the glass before his tongue wiped away some that tried to escape his lips while he continued to speak. ... Stealing the action that I wanted to be brave enough to do, and what the voices in the back of my mind kept screaming at me to do in any way... They told me to forget about everyone else and just connect my lips to his in the way I always wanted to, even if there was no more wine there for me to clean. “I see… He must be having a good time with all the other pups as the Solstice nights are just like the days with Full Moons for us.” Taking a moment to put some wine to myself, I said after a deep breath that helped me with the emotions caused by it. And honestly, my words were just a reminder of what was happening to me as I thought better... A reminder to myself of what was the cause of all those feelings I intended to ignore. ... It was all the Moon's fault... It was all caused by the Moon Goddess, who kept the strings of our Fates in the palms of her hand and seemed to enjoy herself every time we tried to deny the pull she put between us.
