Chapter 59 - Present - Aaron
"...Unnecessary danger?" Stopping what he was doing, it was the first time something one of his brothers was saying earlier had caught Daniel's attention. "Now, I must agree with Ronnie about someone acting weird, but this person is definitely not Giselle for sure... Since when do you think about whether something could be dangerous or not to her?"
Perhaps due to the fact that Aaron knew how the she-wolf felt about him, he also put a distance between them, aside from all the times when she ignored him to hide her emotions.
So the mere idea that he was really responding to Ronnie with such words was just impossible to bear in his older brother's mind if nothing had happened between the couple.
"What are you talking about, Dan? I'm just answering Ronnie's question, and if you think about it from the Alphas' point of view, it makes sense. Or I'm the only one who can see it?"
Nevertheless, it was evident that the D'Alberto family's middle child would never tell him that easily... Aaron didn't work that way, and his brother knew it.
In fact, Daniel used to say he preferred to make things difficult whenever possible rather than talk to someone like anyone else.
Even when he found out about his son and Apple left the baby with him, Aaron preferred to disappear for a few weeks.
Not answering his phone and only reading one or the other message sent by their father and Daniel, ignoring everything else before he showed up with Eddy on Christmas.
... Yes, from his brother's point of view, he was this complicated...
"I'm not so sure that I can trust what you are saying, brother." Hence with such thoughts in mind, Daniel commented back on Aaron's reply. "We both know that you wouldn't usually say something like this, but in any way. I won't force you to talk about it if you don't want to."
Reverting to his nonchalant manner, the older man finished saying, reminding his young brother of Madison's words from a couple of weeks ago...
Making Aaron think that if Dan were a Werewolf like them, he probably would have noticed it right away.
... Or maybe even worse, that simple detail would be enough for him to put all the pieces together as a puzzle and find out what had happened between Aaron and their step-sister.

"What do you mean, Dan? What happened?" For a minute, I had completely forgotten that Ronnie was there with us until he asked such questions, soon annoying Daniel as usual.
"Shut up, Sidekick. You don't need to know about this." Dan didn't think twice about what he would do when he pushed Ron away with his foot while saying so before looking back at me, and I could see how serious he was about what he had just told me.
... He wouldn't ask me about it again, but at any time if I wanted to talk about it, I could find him when Ronnie wasn't with us...
We could love our baby brother, but he wasn't exactly the best person to talk with or keep secrets if we didn't give him anything in exchange for that.
... Honestly, Ronnie was a good person to talk to when the matter interested him or when he was curious about something since he could be pretty gossipy, unlike the two of us, as soon as he left the room...
Either way, I soon stopped the argument that had started between the two of them, saying if they weren't going to play anymore, I would go home and watch some movies with Ed, as he was also in the Pack's house, playing with Alpha Magnolia.
... She had asked me to leave him with her as soon as she saw us when we arrived, and since it wasn't exactly the kind of game I liked him to play, or even watch us playing, despite the fact that he was a Werewolf, so I quickly accepted her offer...
Hours went by quickly amidst the screams of my little brother, who was frightened by anything, and after he finally decided he would spend the night with Dan at the Pack's house, I went to look for my son so we could go back home.
Yet, unexpectedly, he wasn't with Alpha Magnolia anywhere near the kitchen, making me wish I had the same ability as them to find anyone just by scent as both of them wasn't in any usual place I could think of so far.
Looking outside, I had to take a moment first to think about how odd it was that no one seemed to be there before I remembered how the Alphas had told us to avoid staying out with the pups during the nighttime.
... Actually, they had mentioned Human members should also avoid being there during these hours for our safety, and I could even already imagine the lecture Alpha Magnolia would give me when we met due to that...
"... Aaron? What are you doing here?" Like an unexpected whisper, her voice filled my mind before I turned to see her coming out of the forest as her wolf after the noises of bones breaking that told me she must have just taken on that shape. "You shouldn't be here this late, even more alone."
Taking the Alphas' place to remind me about it, I could hardly call it a lecture due to her worried tone that didn't convey intimidation or authority like I usually felt with Dylan or Magnolia.
"Yeah, I know. You don't need to remind me about it." Stupidly answering her like a teenager, I wondered what I was doing before I gave her a decent answer. "And... I was looking for Alpha Magnolia and Eddy. She told me she would take care of him for me, but I can't find them anywhere since earlier."
"..." Lifting her nose, she closed her eyes, and it wasn't hard to figure out what she was probably doing then. "You definitely won't find them out here. But if I can help you, they're still inside the Pack's house, even if I can't tell exactly where from here."
Easily telling me what I should already know, it made me want to have the same skills as them for the second time that day, before speaking a simple thanks back to her as I turned to head towards the house once more without looking back to see if she was following me or not...
"... Wait. What are you doing here this late?"
