Chapter 26 - Present
As if trapped in an endless dilemma... Giselle felt lost after hearing the words that the Winter Witch told her about how there was a tiny chance her bond with Edward could be also affected by what she was about to do.
The powerful connection that existed between them was mostly because his father was her Mate, so one could only expect it to be affected if she touched it
"I doubt that it would be anything too crazy as the pup already sees you as a guide and leader, yet I cannot say it wouldn't make him feel unfamiliar with you for a while due to the changes it will cause on the main bond you share."
Explaining a little better about what she was going to do for the young she-wolf, Winny was indifferent about the choices Giselle might make as none of it affected her and her son's fate in Coleman.
But of course, the other people there didn't share the same feelings as her, and besides the Vampire, she could easily sense how Arcana and Noah didn't agree with that.
The Gamma was also there due to a request from their leaders, who wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly since the young Alpha was part of an allied Pack that they would like to keep on friendly terms for a long time if possible.
... Something the Witch already knew would happen, although she couldn't exactly tell the others...
“So? Did you decide what you will do?”
A decision was something that needed to be made sooner or later, so Winnie didn't mind interrupting Elle's thoughts by questioning her about it, feeling the icy wind blow through her light hair while she could only wonder about her own mixed pup, and whether Mohale was having a good time with their Alphas or not.
“... A-as mu-much I no want to think about it, you said that there is only a small change for my bond with him to be affected by the spell between Aaron and me, right?” Not believing she was really saying that Giselle confirmed it with the Winter Witch once again. "Then, I'll do it."
So, showing the palm of her left hand to the other woman as she had told her earlier... The she-wolf mustered all her courage with a confidence she had always forgotten to exist inside her.
"I know it's a lot to ask the Moon Goddess when I'm going against something she had done, but I believe she will protect my bond with Edward no matter what."
"Are you sure about that, Elle? Don't you think you're taking a big risk here? It's about Eddy we are talking about." As Winnie took Giselle's hands in hers, ready to work her magic, Noah tried to convince the she-wolf otherwise, thinking that things would work out somehow in the end, even if Elle didn't believe in that.
... But unlike what he thought, his words had been said a little too late...
"I know, Noah. And if the odds were higher, I definitely wouldn't do it as it hurts me to imagine him rejecting me too." She stated that simple explanation to her childhood friend with a hand over her heart before telling Winnie that she should begin.
… And soon, both women were surrounded by a strong wind while the Witch's eyes began to shine more and more in a purple glow…
The smell of blood dominated the area of the woods where the small ceremony was being performed while the crimson liquid ran down Giselle's arm... Leaving her body through every part that the other woman's fingertips had touched as if a knife had touched her skin.
...But of course, her Werewolf powers soon healed her, being a new pain each time the Witch repeated such action until she reached Elle's fingers...
Place where slowly her blood began to dye something, making it visible to her eyes before Winnie held it in her hands, and the Alpha felt as if it was her heart instead.
This leading to Giselle to place a hand upon her chest, struggling to breathe while she could barely stand, holding onto the sleeve of the woman's blouse as the Witch's eyes glowed brighter and brighter, and the pain worsened along with it.
... It was a punishment given to her by the Moon Goddess... Or at least, that was the only thing Elle could think of then...
That was the price for what she had done, and she could see it in the Witch's face when she begged her for help, and all Winnie did was show her a sad expression, closing her eyes after that to continue the spell.
... It was something simple to be done by her, definitely. However, she hadn't told the she-wolf how it wouldn't be the same for Giselle as she watched her squirm in pain known as the Werewolves' weakness...
A pain that could slowly lead them even to their death if they were not strong enough because of how deep was the importance of the bond between their Mates and them for their kind than any other Human race.
"P-Ple... Please... make it end... soon..." The color of Giselle's lips disappeared when she could barely speak, yet once more, the Witch didn't say a single word to her, even though she was aware of how terrible this must be feeling for Elle.
... Consequently, the only thing she could do was ignore the young she-wolf, for the time being, fulfilling her wish along with the request to end it soon by doing that, even if it didn't look like...
And so, eventually, it was all over...
It had been about a half-hour after Elle's last words to the Witch, yet it seemed more like a long eternity to her than just a few minutes extra when her body lost its strength, and her eyes grew heavy as she let go of Winnie.
... Knees almost touching the ground if the other woman had not held her back in time before the other Werewolves, who were waiting anxiously for them outside the wind barrier, came to aid...
Noah's voice sounded distant while he asked his childhood friend if she was okay, but Elle wasn't able to answer him when a sweet dream that took her back home was the only thing that got her attention then, allowing her to rest in the arms of those she loved the most and were not there.
