Her Beta

Chapter 27 - Present It had been a few days since the last time Jiya had been able to talk to Giselle, and as each of them went by, she became more and more anxious about not having any notice of the future Alpha, who didn't even answer her messages. And although she thought she knew exactly where the other wolf was, the young Beta couldn't stop the uncomfortable feeling that something wrong was wrong for sure as Noah always gave some useless excuse when she tried to talk with Elle through him. “Sorry, Jiya. I can’t talk with you right now. I’ll call you later, bye.” Once more, that was the answer she heard before the former member of Mirror Night hung up without giving her time to ask him anything about their friend. Doubts growing more and more in the she-wolf's mind, and she began to wonder if there was any other reason why Giselle had left town with the other Alpha besides the ones she had told her before... Was it related to her Mate, or maybe something else she was hiding from her? Reading the last message that the future Alpha had sent her two days after the Solstice's night again, Jiya couldn't stop thinking that everything seemed normal then. Yet, when she remembered that it was Giselle she was talking about, the Beta also recalled how it was something she knew how to do very well. ... Besides the fact, her friend had never been out with her or anyone else during Christmas since the D'Alberto's had become part of the Pack and family. And it was even worse since Eddy was born. Twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth were days that Elle practically reserved for the pup in her schedule if nothing unusual happened, needing her... So, the Beta couldn't believe she hadn't returned home yet. Of course, she wasn't the only one worried as Giselle's family and the Alpha couple wanted to know it. ...The older Werewolves tried to talk to her all the time besides always asking Jiya if she had any news about her friend when they saw her. Nevertheless... The same couldn't be said about Sabrina. Her life had turned into such a complete mess in the last few days that the she-wolf barely knew where to put her attention after her stepson fell ill out of the blue for no reason, having a terrible fever that no Human doctors could explain... And when she remembered about the old medicine, also known as a potion, she gave him to solve his little stink problem; she could only feel guilty, thinking that somehow it could be her fault. ... Even if it was far from being the whole truth... Giselle hadn't been the only one to feel the effects caused by the spell she had asked the Winter Witch to do on her mating, although she would only find out about it later... So going back to Jiya, the Beta let a frustrated sigh escape her lips as she ended another useless call. Her new attempts to talk to Noah and Elle had proven futile yet again before she saw the time and realized that she would be late for practice that evening if she didn't join the others right now. Thus quickly changing clothes, she left the bathroom she had occupied as her own for the past hour without even noticing where she was going, only to bump into the oldest son of the D'Alberto's. "I'm sorry, Dan! I wasn't looking where I was going!" Immediately recognizing his scent, Jiya apologized, fixing her hair in an old habit from when she had a crush on him and Daniel wasn't mated yet. "It's okay, Jiya. I was distracted too." Putting his phone away, the man told her back first before remembering the message he had just seen on his smartphone. "But besides that, you were exactly who I wanted to talk to right now." "Me?" If he had training on that day, or even during one of the sessions, the she-wolf wouldn't have found his words strange... But as they were in neither situation, she asked back in a surprised tone. "I know you're probably tired of hearing this by now, but my stepmother asked me to check you if you have any news of Giselle in case I saw you here." "Sorry, but I haven't been able to reach Elle yet like everyone else." "I see... Thank you." Somehow already expecting such a reply, that was all Daniel said to her before going back to his Mate's side upstairs. ... If another question didn't come to his mind... "Wait, Jiya! Can I ask you something else?" Calling out to her, he soon asked the she-wolf when she turned to him with a look in her eyes that told him to go on. "Is it true that if Giselle became our Alpha, will you be her Beta?" Although no one believed this would be possible, all sorts of rumors, including this one, were circulating through the Pack about Giselle and the ones who could be her Dominating wolves. "... Yes, this is true. If Elle becomes our Alpha someday, I will be her Beta until my last day alive, hopefully." Not understanding why he was asking her such a thing, Jiya answered him anyway, showing how much it wasn't a joke or silly rumor for her. But before she could make him understand how it was a silly question to do, she was stopped by her phone. … And as the Beta saw Noah's name on the screen, Jiya quickly picked it up, forgetting about the Human man, only to hear the voice of the person she most wanted to talk to then… “Hi, Jiya…”
