Chapter 39 - Present - Giselle
"What smell?! I don't have any strange scent on me anymore! And I'm sure about that since I've asked everybody about it!"
Immediately defending himself, Aaron couldn't tell if the she-wolf was mentioning the old smell he had a hard time getting rid of a few weeks ago or because of how uncomfortable that conversation made him feel.
"Like you would even be able to notice it with your Human nose." However, Madison soon shot back at him, not caring if he wanted to talk about it or not. "Ren and Elisa told us about what happened, and no. I'm not talking about that."
...Kevin and his girlfriend had spent the month away traveling in Europe, so they were not at Mirror Night during the last important events of their kind or when their Human friend got sick...
"Honestly, if that smell wasn't just weird. I would swear you had a Mate now and that you had completed the mating while we were away."
Stopping from taking another sip of his drink, Aaron was only able to think that she was wrong about the whole mating, but not entirely about the Mate thing... And confused about how long someone's scent could linger on another person, he swallowed the lump that rose up in his throat...
Wondering if this was just really weird or if it allowed Madison to notice the previous presence of the other she-wolf against his skin... Even though he had thought he had already erased all of her traces with the long baths, he took more than usual.
"There... There is only one problem with what you said." But soon recovering, he placed a smile on his lips before turning his attention back to the couple. "For that to be true, I would need to have a Mate at least, just like Ren."

Waking to my phone alarm, I had no idea when I had fallen asleep, and I was completely startled when I saw the hour since I should be already back home by this time.
So right away, I rushed to the bathroom, taking a quick shower before wearing the clothes I had brought with me, going to look for Alpha Maggie next to give her back the key to the bedroom she had let me borrow.
"Are you still here, Sweet?" Knowing everyone's schedule better than ourselves, she quickly asked after seeing me.
"Yeah, I ended up falling asleep. But I'm already leaving. Thanks for the room, Alpha." Handing her the key, I said briefly, placing a kiss on her cheek as thanks before leaving as fast as possible without catching sight of the expression on her face then.
Her surprised look went beyond the simple kiss I had given her, and maybe, if I had stayed five seconds longer, I would have noticed that as well.
... About how it wasn't something that I would usually do...
But as nothing else went through my mind besides getting home soon, I sent my grandmother an apology message, rushing to get the clothes I had been sewing in my room...
She had told me that I didn't need to go to the atêlie while the threat of hunters was still around us, but despite this, I promised her that I would take the finished pieces this evening to her after finishing a few details that I would correct upon arriving back from the Pack's house.
... And which I certainly had no longer time to do if I wanted to keep my promise to her…
"Hey, where were you? I've been waiting for you all afternoon." Meeting me in my room, Jiya mentioned as I grabbed the clothes and the rest of my stuff there. "I brought you some homemade curry that my mother did today, but I guess it's useless to mention it, seeing how your step-brother ate almost the whole thing."
And as I talked to her while walking around the bedroom, it was after saying it that she opened the container in her hands, stopping me as a terrible feeling of nausea that I had never felt before overwhelmed me.
... Everything soon fell all over the place as I ran downstairs to the bathroom with one hand over my mouth, afraid I wouldn't get there in time...
The toilet became my best friend as I threw out everything I had eaten earlier until my stomach hurt.
... But the worst was yet to come when I heard Jiya's simple comment as I sat down on the cold floor when she let go of my hair...
"Goddess! If I didn't know you, I would swear you were pregnant."
