Chapter 45 - Past "I don't know if it's our bond or something else, but his reaction was much better than I could expect! Completely different from what I assumed in my mind!" Sabrina's smile was one of the happiest her family had seen in years stamped on her face as she told them how her last meeting with her Mate had gone. ...They had met when she went to deliver a special order that an old client of her mother's had made, and his scent was something she never thought she would smell in the other town away from home... It was as crystal clear as sunlight in the daytime, distracting her to the point that in the next minute, when she realized it, it was already too late for the she-wolf to avoid bumping against him, staining the man's shirt with her coffee. ... It had been such an unexpected and pleasant encounter at the same time that Sabrina couldn't hide her smile when she spoke to the Human male, offering to buy him a new shirt, which resulted in what could be called their first date on that same evening... "I'm glad to hear that he took it all well, as we never know what we could expect from Humans." Her stepfather soon commented, listening next to his wife, who agreed with his words. “I’m happy for you, darling. Everything seems to have worked out just the way you wanted.” Human Mates were not always good news since most of them didn't know about the Supernatural world, and it was a concern that inevitably Sabrina and her family had as her relationship with Charles grew more each day, despite the distance. "Yes! Everything went so well, that's probably the best news I've received recently, and I still feel like I'm dreaming right now." Having a blushed glow on her face, she sounded like a teenager again who had just fallen in love for the first time. "He had been thinking about moving with his sons for a while now, then... He talked about moving here, so I can stay in the Pack, and he's even coming next week so we can look for a house big enough for us!" Sabrina's eyes naturally went to her daughter, but Giselle had nothing against that. She had met the Human man before, and he was so kind to her besides matching her mother's personality so well that even an outsider could tell they were Mates. ...Elle was happy for her mother, although she soon became aware of the thoughts troubling the other she-wolf's mind as she overheard Sabrina talking to her grandmother. And despite being shocked, Giselle promised, not only to herself but also to the other two Werewolves, that they had nothing to worry about... Therefore, when the day came for her to meet her other half, instead of the happy smile similar to the one Sabrina showed when she met Charles, the young Alpha put on a false one on her face, swallowing down her feelings while doing her best to trap them back inside her heart. ... The idea of maybe living with her grandparents no longer sounded so bad then... However, maybe time really was the best solution, in that case, every time she saw how happy her mother was, yet unable to believe that everything had worked out in the end... Charles wasn't the only one who had accepted them for who they were, but his sons had also easily blended in with the rest of the Pack without much question or doubt as to whether they weren't just a bunch of crazy people trying to fool their father. And as a result, Giselle convinced herself that it was all temporary. That after two years, her Mate would be away from there, attending college in some other state, and even if it wasn't true, she would be the one leaving after graduating. ... So, avoiding him was the best thing she could do for now, and she would always repeat it to herself every morning when she went out for a short run... The Pack's house had always been her refuge, and now more than ever, she thought there was the only place she could let her thoughts slip away without anyone bothering her. She didn't even need to worry about someone doubting what she was doing as Elle used as an excuse the training sessions she had to attend or one of the Alphas as it wasn't unusual that they would ask for her help with something. Sometimes she wouldn't even eat breakfast at home before going straight there after getting up, avoiding any little moment she might have to spend with her Mate. … Yet, that morning didn’t work out as she planned when after shifting back to her Human shape, she heard his voice… "So, they were not lying... You guys are really Werewolves." Surprised, Giselle quickly covered her body with the first piece of clothing she saw in front of her without caring if it was hers or someone else's. And it was the first time she felt embarrassed like this while doing something so natural for Werewolves, simply because her Mate was the one who was looking at her at that very moment... However, before she could say anything to him, their eyes met, and she realized that neither fear nor disgust appeared in his eyes as he made such a comment after witnessing the first shifting he saw after moving there. … Honestly, a hint of admiration was all around his voice before he opened his mouth to tell her something else. Yet, when his brothers unexpectedly showed up, it made Aaron stop what he was going to say right away, stating an entirely different thing than what he had in his mind to the she-wolf then... “But it surprises me that even a weak being like you is one of them as well.”
