Chapter 9 - Present
"Hey, Aaron! I thought you would just come here later with little Eddy."
It wasn't strange that someone else in the Pack knew about Eddy, and even more Jiya, who was a friend of Giselle's and whom the others could always see most of the time with the blonde she-wolf when she wasn't busy reading in some quiet corner.
"... No... Ronnie said he and his friends were having some trouble with the grill they were using, so he asked me to give him a ride after our father said he could borrow ours." Pretending that his eyes hadn't briefly met Giselle's, the man answered her casually, hiding his hands in his pockets. "What about you two? What are you two doing? Shouldn't you be helping with something else too?"
Mirror Night wasn't a big Pack, as already said before, compared to others. Yet that wasn't the main reason why Aaron was relatively close to the she-wolf who, minutes ago, was hugging her stepmother's daughter with smiles on her face that he wouldn't usually see.
Jiya would sometimes help train their Human members with the Alpha couple and Beta after she turned sixteen, allowing her to know the d'Alberto brothers a little better.
... She had even dated their oldest before they broke up when he went off to college, and she was also a good friend of their second son, even if she didn't look like it sometimes.
But despite that… Both young women always kept in touch with each other when they lived in different cities to the point where Giselle constantly knew how Aaron was doing, thanks to her friend...
"Please don't remember me about it, and as far as anyone knows, I'm not even here. But you're right about Elle, she needs to go help Alpha Magnolia, and maybe you can also help them, like picking up some stuff they might not be able to reach." Placing her hand on the other she-wolf's head, the young woman who had worked as a model a few times in the past mentioned how short were the other two women compared to her and Aaron.
... So, quickly pushing the couple towards the kitchen before anyone else could see her, Jiya disappeared back upstairs to enjoy the book she was reading before she needed to join the others later to run around in her animal form...
And seeing how fast everything happened, Giselle and Aaron couldn't just say anything when the female Alpha appeared before them, saying they were the ones she was looking for while pulling them to her favorite space in the whole house.
"Goddess, I don't know what I would have done if you two hadn't shown up to help. I don't know where the others disappeared since they were all here a few minutes ago."
With a voice as sweetly as ever, Magnolia ended up mentioning it while making the dough for some pies with the Human beside her cutting some cookies into the shape of a gingerbread man and the young she-wolf in the background putting a tray already filled with the sweet treat to bake.
"... They must have gone to help Alpha Dylan with the barbecue, Alpha Magnolia." Not caring much that it meant she would have to help the old lady for much longer than expected, Giselle soon helped the others. "Aaron even told Jiya and me that it was the reason he ended up coming earlier after meeting Ronnie at home when he was bringing a few things here, right?"
As she cut some cookies in the shape of snowflakes now, Elle continued to say, hoping her Mate could confirm what she was saying, helping her at least this time when she nudged him with her arm since not all of her words were a complete lie.
"U-uh! Ronnie's friend told us that you guys needed some help here at the Pack's house, so we didn't think twice before coming over to help."
"Oh, Sweet. You and your brother didn't have to do that when several wolves were already here doing nothing since early." Putting a smile back on Magnolia's lips, Aaron had no idea how happy it made her feel... Although she could easily guess the real reason why everyone had disappeared from the kitchen before she had even picked up the couple's scent in the hallway.
... As beloved, their female Alpha was in Mirror Night... Everyone knew the terrible temper she ended up having in the kitchen, wanting everything to be more than perfect until she stressed anyone to the point that they would prefer to run for hours with her Mate than stay there for another second while following her orders...
However, none of this mattered to the older she-wolf as she witnessed how the couple worked in perfect harmony while doing the task she had given them.
... In the same way, her Mate knew Aaron was Giselle's other half. The young lady didn't bother to keep it as a secret to Magnolia as it was to Sabrina; consequently, she was happy for Elle as she saw the usual distance between them vanish while they worked next to each other in the kitchen with smiles on their faces...
And for a moment... Even the couple forgot about such a barrier that existed among them as they exchanged words naturally... As it was always meant to be since the beginning...
"DADDY!!!"
The smell of the last batch of pies baking was already flowing through the Pack's house when Edward arrived there with his grandparents, not wasting a second to run into his father's arms when he found where the Human man was using the abilities of his wolf side.
"The smell of your pumpkin pie is divine as always, Alpha Magnolia." After greeting their leader's Mate, that was the first thing Sabrina said to the other she-wolf before showing the three simpler ones she had also made for that particular day. "This is nothing compared to yours, but I made some simple chocolate ones with Charles' and Eddy's help."
And as friendly as always with a gentle gaze in her eyes, she completed while Elle finished organizing everything they had used early, thinking about joining her friend in a few minutes until the older Alpha stopped her.
... A big smile present on Magnolia's lips at the mere mention of her favorite drink, preventing the young couple from bringing back the same old distance for a little longer...
"Now... Before we continue this conversation, who wants a cup of tea? Or two, maybe?"
