Chapter Six ~ Remember your promise, okay honey?

Kendra POV

    Crystal and Caelan have been in her room now for about 10 minutes, I wanted to go see what they were talking about, but I knew I couldn’t. Amilah was talking with Karl, while the parents were talking to each other. I looked across the table and Brian’s eyes were locked on me. I couldn’t figure out the look he was giving but I knew once I locked eyes with him something was drawing me to him like a moth to a flame. I licked my lips and put my head down looking at the table. When I looked back up, he had left the table and was talking with my Father. I was surprised at how relaxed they looked talking, then my father walked over to me and smiled.

        “Hey Kenny Bear, Brian just asked me if you two could sit on the porch and talk for a minute. Are you comfortable with that?” I stared at my father with wonder in my eyes for a second, then I looked at Brian before nodding my head at my father.

        “Well okay, don’t go too far, we will probably serve dinner soon.” I nodded at him again and just as I stood to walk to the door my mother said.

        “Kendra, remember your promise, okay honey?” I nodded at her and walked out on the porch with Brian following behind me.

    I took a seat on the bench swing while Brian stood looking off in the distance. After a few minutes he came and sat down next to me. Before I could say anything, he took a deep breathe, sighed, then turned his body and looked me in my eyes before speaking.

        “Kendra, how are you really feeling about everything you now know about your best friend?” I looked in his eyes trying to see if I could get a feel for what he was really asking me but nothing. I sat my hand on the bench and he did the same but when his pinky grazed mine, I felt an electric spark on my skin. We both looked down at our hands at the same time then he looked up at me with a smile.

        “What was that?” I asked and he responded.

        “Question for a question?” I laughed and looked back down at our hands before looking back up at him and saying.

        “I’ve known about Crystal and her mom for 10 years now. I feel the same I always have. If you are asking me if I’m afraid of them, then my answer is no. Crystal is now and will always be my best friend and I will love her regardless of what she is. I will protect her secret just like I will protect her life as we have done for each other for 10 years now.” I smiled at him shyly and looked out in the distance.

        “Hmmm, I see. What about knowing that Amilah, Karl, Caelan, and I are also what Crystal is? Are you afraid of us? Will you also protect our secret?” He said softly in a gentle tone while looking at me with an intense glaze.

    I looked up to him and our eyes locked and my body started to yearn for him in a way it has never yearned for anything else ever before. After a minute of trying to calm myself down, I finally answered him looking deep into his eyes.

        “No, I’m not afraid of Amilah, Karl, or Caelan but you-” as soon as I said that his face dropped, “Something about you makes me feel things I have never felt before and it kind of scares me. Not in a frightening way but more in a way that I don’t understand it. I just met you today but it feels like I’ve known you my entire life.” I said and looked away.

    He gently grabbed my face pulling it back to look at him while he stared into my eyes, “I will never do anything to hurt you.” The way he said that to me was so sincere and passionate, that in that moment I wanted nothing more than to kiss him.

    I shook my head and said low and under my breathe so he couldn’t hear, “Remember your promise Kendra,” But his eyes snapped to my lips and he smiled at me.

        “About that, what did you promise?” he said with a glint of humor in his voice and a grin on his face. I looked at him shocked that he heard me.

        “How did you hear me” I said back with a smile across my lips, and he simply replied.

        “Wolf hearing! So?” and chuckled while awaiting my response.

        “Crystal and I promised our moms earlier today that we would stay focused until graduation and no boys until college!” I replied with a light chuckle of my own.

    When we both finally looked back at each other, we both broke out into a quiet laughter. I didn’t expect what happened next, but I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it. Brian took the loose strand of my hair and carefully tucked it behind my ear then pulled my head down by my ears and kissed the center of my forehead.

        “I can respect that, and I can help you keep that promise as well” he said.

        “About that spark you felt a little while ago…” he continued, and I looked up at him and noticed he was staring at me with a hint of hopefulness.

        “You’re human so you don’t really know about what I’m about to tell you, the Mother of all werewolves, the Moon Goddess is what we call her, when she sees fit, she blesses her children with given mates’ kind of like a soul mate in human terms and you gorgeous…” he paused a second to let me process what he just said before hesitantly continuing, “is my goddess given mate. That means you were made for me and I was made for you. What you feel towards me I also feel towards you. I am drawn to you and you make me feel things I have never felt before. Since I first laid eyes on you, you have consumed my being. It’s like you are the air I need to breathe, like my sole purpose in this life is to love and protect you with everything in me, and that is exactly what I intend to do” He said.

    I just stared into his eyes looking for any sign that this was a joke or something, but it wasn’t. All I saw in his eyes was pure sincerity and a hint of lust. I smiled at him and said “I think I can live with that” then I giggled and stood up from the bench swing. I looked back at him and said, “We should probably get back inside. I’m starving. It should be dinner time by now.”

Brian POV

    I never knew I could feel this way about a woman so fast but this woman sitting across from me is definitely going to be the death of me. Everything about Kendra is perfect and her scent has me going crazy. I just want to take her right here, right now.

        ‘I wonder if she is afraid of us. Knowing her best friend is a wolf is one thing but now she knows our existence doesn’t begin or end with Crystal and her mom. She seems cool with it, but do you think she will reject us because of what we are?’ Rocky asks me while we both sat across from Kendra mesmerized by how gorgeous she is.

        ‘I don’t know Rock. I want to know what’s going through that pretty little head of hers, but I don’t think we will get a minute alone like Caelan and Crystal.’ I said to him as I notice Kendra looking at me then back down while licking her lips. My d**k twitched in my pants as her arousal hits my nose.

    I jumped up and walked over to James and Joel before I did something I would regret. Rocky had me thinking and I needed to figure out a way to have some alone time with her.

        “So, Brian, how many students attend these conferences?” James asked me as I walked up to them and I figured here was my in. I smiled at him before responding.

        “I’m not so sure but when Caelan and I attended almost 6 years ago there were 45 High Schools and 10 Junior High Schools there, a total of a little more than 160 students, with more than 1000 sponsors totaling 5.2 million dollars in awards and scholarships.”

    The look on Joel and James face was that of shock.

        “How hard will it be for the girls to get more than just the guaranteed $25,000 scholarship with that many students?” James asked and Joel leaned in to hear my response. I looked back at Kendra for a second and she was looking dead at me with an awe expression on her face. I turned back to James and responded,

        “Kendra is a very smart girl and so is Crystal. Their academics are very impressive. I’m sure with very little training they will walk away with quite a bit of money and awards. I’m concerned though.” I said staring at a distance then Joel asked me.

        “Why? What concerns you?” I looked back at Kendra and my heart skipped a beat at how beautiful she is and the thought of her being afraid of me tore at my heart a little.

    I turned back to James and Joel and said to them looking at James.

        “I don’t know if the girls will want our help after all they have learned today. I know Caelan is talking to Crystal, but I wonder what Kendra is thinking and feeling at the moment. This can all be a little overwhelming for her. Is it possible I can speak with her outside on the porch to get a feel for what she may feel now with all the information she has learned today?” I looked James straight in the eye to show I had no ill intentions; he searched my eyes for anything that would indicate I had intentions he wouldn’t approve of and when he saw none he replied.

        “I don’t see a problem with it, Let’s see if she is okay with it?” then he stepped around me and walked over to her. He smiled at her and said.

        “Hey Kenny Bear, Brian just asked me if you two could sit on the porch and talk for a minute. Are you comfortable with that?” she stared at her father with a look of wonder in her eyes, then looked at me before nodding her head at her father.

        “Well okay, don’t go too far, we will probably serve dinner soon.” He said and she nodded at him again and stood to walk to the door when her mother said, “Kendra, remember your promise, okay honey?” She nodded at her and walked out on the porch with me following behind her.

    She took a seat on the bench swing while I stood looking off in the distance. I sent Caelan a quick mind link

        ‘Hey man, I hope all is working out in there. You guys have been in there a while. I just finally got some alone time with Kendra on the porch. I’m going to see how she feels about all this.’ He responded back quickly.

        ‘I’m doing the same in here. Be honest with her but let her tell you how she feels without any implications how you feel. That way you won’t scare her off. This is all new to her and she’s human after all. Good luck man!’  he said closing off the link.

    After a few minutes I sat down next to her on the swing. Before she could say anything, I took a deep breathe, sighed, then turned to looked her in the eyes before speaking.

Crystal is now and will always be my best friend and I will love her regardless of what she is. After a minute, she calmed herself down, and finally answered me looking deep into my eyes. “No, I’m not afraid of Amilah, Karl, or Caelan but you-” as soon as she said that my face dropped and my heart stopped, “Something about you makes me feel things I have never felt before and it kind of scares me. Not in a frightening way but more in a way that I don’t understand it. I just met you today but it feels like I’ve known you my entire life.” she said and looked away shyly.

    I gently grabbed her face pulling it back to look at me, while I stared into her beautiful light brown eyes, “I will never do anything to hurt you.” I said with as much sincerity and passion that I could without grabbing her face and kissing her. She shook her head and said low under her breathe so I couldn’t hear but I heard her clearly, “Remember your promise Kendra,” My eyes snapped to her lips and I smiled at her.

        “How did you hear me?” she asked amazed with a smile across her lips, and I simply replied.

        “Wolf hearing! So?” and chuckled while awaiting her to answer my question.

        “I can respect that, and I can help you keep that promise as well” I said then continued with

It’s like you are the air I need to breathe, like my sole purpose in this life is to love and protect you with everything in me, and that is exactly what I intend to do.” I said and she just stared into my eyes searching for any sign that this was a joke or something, but I saw it in her eyes when she realized I was serious.

    She smiled at me and said “I think I can live with that” then she giggled, and my heart swelled I want to hear that sound for the rest of my life. She stood up from the bench swing and I finally got to see the goddess before me.

    She stood five-foot-eight max, with the most amazing tan color complexion. Her strawberry blonde hair was long and styled in two braided ponytails. She has big light brown eyes with a hint of gold in them, a cute small nose and the most amazing kissable looking lips. Her make-up is light and natural, and she finished her look with a pink color gloss. She’s wearing a black bodycon pants romper covered with a long black Cardigan that hides her ass and curves well with a pair of black socks and black converse on her feet.

        ‘Mate is Perfect, Isn’t she?’ Rocky said in my head with the biggest smile I ever seen him have. ‘Yes, she is!’ I replied I looked up at her as she looked back at me and she said.

        “We should probably get back inside. I’m starving. It should be dinner time by now.” She was breathtaking and I was mesmerized, I nodded my head and stood up to follow her back inside.
