Chapter Seven ~ Wh..Who is Victoria?

2774 Words
Crystal POV     When Caelan and I walked into the dining room I didn’t see Kendra and Brian. Caelan must have noticed me looking for Kendra because he leaned into me and said,         “They’re on the porch.” I looked at him and smiled.     Just as I was about to ask him if he wanted to join them the front door opened, and they walked in. As soon as Kendra’s eyes landed on me, she walked over to me quickly and pulled me over to the family room. It was just the two of us in the family room, so we took a seat on the couch. I looked at her and she looked at me and we both giggled.         “So?” I said looking at her and she looked around before whispering to me.         “I’m freaking out. Everything about Brian has my body wanting him but I’m scared because he’s a werewolf. What if we do something and he accidentally kills me or something? Crys, is this really happening? He told me that I was some given mate to him by the Mother of all Werewolves. Does that mean that I will become a werewolf too?” she said in a frightened whisper.     I can tell by her eyes that she was really freaking out but not as bad as she could be. I grabbed her hands in mine and looked her deep in the eyes and said, “Ken, how do you feel about me now that you know what you know?” I wasn’t sure if I was ready for her answer, but I needed to hear her tell me.     She spoke softly but still in a whisper, “I love you Crys. You are my best friend. It doesn’t matter what you are. We will always be best friends. I will protect your secret and I will always be here for you.” I pulled her into a tight hug and sighed.     She looked at me and asked, “What’s wrong? What happen with Caelan?”     I shook my head at her and said, “Caelan is amazing. I feel the same about him as you do Brian and he told me I am his given mate also but I’m afraid I won’t be good enough for him and he will hurt me. He told me he would honor my promise to mom so that is a plus but I’m freaking out as much as you are.”     She nodded her head and said “Brian, said he would honor my promise also. They both just seem too good to be true,” I nodded my head and she continued, “But we have each other and we will get through this together.         "Do you still want to train with them?” I asked her and she nodded.     Just as we both stood up Karl peeked his head in the family room and said, “There you two are, Crystal’s mom asked me to let you both know dinner is ready.”     We both looked at him and smiled saying in unison, “Coming”.       As soon as I walked in the dining room, Caelan’s eyes landed on me and I could see worry written on his face. Is it possible he heard what Kendra and I was talking about? That’s not possible we were in the other room. Then I looked at Brian and he had a matching expression as Caelan’s on his face. Mom motioned for us to take our seats at the table with Karl, Amilah, Brian, and Caelan and I noticed the parents were all sitting at the breakfast bar. I took my seat at one end of the table Caelan was on my right and Amilah was on my left. Kendra took a seat at the other end with Karl on her right and Brian on her left. Caelan gave me a sad smile and a small nod. I nodded back at him with a smile. My mother and Mrs. Marie served us our plates and returned to the breakfast bar to serve Joel and Mr. James.         “Are you okay?” I asked Caelan in a whisper and he nodded his head yes.     I place my hand over his on the table and felt that fire feeling again where our skin touched. He looked at my hand on his and his smile grew bigger. I started eating and he did also. We all sat and ate in a comfortable silence. As we were all finishing our dinner, Caelan’s phone rung and he pulled it out of his pocket, he looked at the caller ID then asked to be excused to take the call. My mother nodded at him and he stepped into the family room. Kendra looked at me and I looked at her and smiled just as Mrs. Marie said, “Dessert anyone?” my eyes shot up when I smelled her fresh baked peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and a smile creeped across my lips. I turned to her and nodded yes but then I stood up and went to the family room to ask Caelan if he wanted dessert.     When I turned the corner to peek my head in, he was still on the phone with his back turned to me, but he instantly turned to face me as if he sensed me near him when we locked eyes he quickly said in the phone,         “Mom, tell dad we’re all okay and we’ll be home in a little bit. Yes, Brian, Karl, and Amilah are with me at my meeting…. No mom, I don’t want to talk to Victoria. I’m busy. I have to go.”     He pressed end on the call still looking at me and started to walk towards me when he said, “Everything okay? Did you need me for something?” I nodded my head no and then I felt a jealous pain in my chest thinking about the way he said Victoria’s name.     He stopped a few feet in front of me and I snapped out of my thoughts before I spoke. “Wh..Who is Victoria?” I stuttered and his face fell but he quickly looked back up to me and softly said, “Nobody! What did you need?”     I shook my head as tears started to form in my eyes. Something was telling me he had just told his first lie to me, but I blinked the tears back and responded, “I was coming to see if you wanted dessert. Mrs. Marie makes the best peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and I like to eat them with Vanilla Ice cream.” I looked down at the floor and he gently grabbed my chin to look back up at him.     He locked eyes with me before he spoke again, “Well I already had the best pot roast and potatoes, two for two can’t be a bad idea plus I love peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and Baby… Victoria really is nobody.” He grabbed my hand and placed a soft kiss on the back of it but didn’t let it go as we walked back in the dining room. We took our same seat and Mrs. Marie brought out the dessert. Caelan POV     When we walked in the dining room after our talk, I noticed Crystal was looking for somebody, I assumed it was Kendra, so I leaned into her and said, “They’re on the porch.” She turned and smiled at me, and looked as if she was going to say something to me, but just then they walked in and Kendra beelined to her and pulled her into the family room. Brian and I both looked at each other and he just smiled so I instantly linked him.         ‘B, please tell me you took my advice and eased the mate thing on her.’         ‘Yes Alpha, I was gentle’ he said and when I looked up, he was smirking at me because he knows I hate it when he sarcastically calls me alpha.     Just as I was about to say something to him his face dropped with worry. He was closer to the family room than I was, and I knew it had to be something he heard the girls talking about. I moved closer to him and when I got in hearing range, I heard Kendra say in a low whisper, but we could hear it clearly with our wolf hearing.         “Crys, is this really happening? He told me that I was some given mate to him by the Mother of all Werewolves. Does that mean that I will become a werewolf too?” she sounded so frightened.         ‘I only told her because when my pinky finger brushed against hers, we both felt the spark and it kind of shocked her’ he said in link but dropped his head again.         ‘It will be okay, let’s see if Crystal can give her assurance that you won’t hurt her.’ I said and Cooper begin to whine in my head, so I sharpened my ears to Crystal’s response.     Kendra asked Crystal, “What’s wrong? What happen with Caelan?” and Crystal said, “Caelan is amazing. I feel the same about him as you do Brian and he told me I am his given mate also but I’m afraid I won’t be good enough for him and he will hurt me. He told me he would honor my promise to mom so that is a plus but I’m freaking out as much as you are.”     My heart felt like someone was tearing it out. I dropped my head but then looked back up to Brian and we heard Kendra say “Brian, said he would honor my promise also. They both just seem too good to be true,” after a few seconds Kendra continued, “But we have each other and we will get through this together.”         “Do you still want to train with them?” Crystal asked her, we didn’t hear Kendra’s response, but Karl slipped past us and peeked his head in the family room and said, “There you two are, Crystal’s mom asked me to let you both know dinner is ready.”     They both replied in unison, “Coming”.     I tapped Brian’s shoulder and we made our way back to the table and took our seats beside each other across from Amilah.         ‘How did you know about the promise? I asked Brian’         ‘Her mother told her to remember it when we walked out on the porch, so I asked her about it’     Then we both said at the same time in link. ‘Stay focused until Graduation and No Boys until College’ we chuckled at each other in the link but cut it off when we heard them approaching.     I looked up at Brian and he looked back at me. We were both worried and our expressions showed it. I looked up and as soon as I did my eyes landed on Crystal then she looked at Brian. I couldn’t really read her expression and Kendra’s face was blank. They walked over and Crystal sat at one end of the table next to me and Kendra sat at the other end of the table next to Brian. Karl took his seat close to Kendra but next to Amilah who was close to Crystal.     I gave Crystal a sad smile and a small nod. She nodded back at me with a smile. Her mother and Mrs. Marie served us our plates and returned to the breakfast bar to serve Mr. Joel and Mr. James.         “Are you okay?” Crystal asked me in a whisper, and I nodded, yes.     She placed her hand over mines on the table and I felt the spark where our skin touched. I looked at my hand under hers and my smile grew bigger. She started eating and so did I. We all sat and ate in a comfortable silence. As we were all finishing our dinner, my phone rung and I pulled it out of my pocket checking the caller ID, seeing the screen say Mom, I asked to be excused to take the call. Crystal’s mother nodded at me and I stepped into the family room to take the call.     As soon as pressed the phone to my ear and said “Hello” my mother’s voice rung through the phone in a panic, “Caelan dear, where are you? Is your sister with you? Have you spoke to Brian or Karl? Are they together? Victoria just told your father and me that there was an attack and that she saw a Rogue on the North end of the territory. We are all worried sick. I rolled my eyes at my mother’s theatrics and my blood was boiling at the fact Victoria had the audacity to speak to my parents.     I started to respond to my mom and as soon as I said, “Mom I’m at a meeting.” I felt my heart start to beat rapidly, and I smelled her scent of fresh baked cinnamon rolls. She was close. I turned around quickly, and my eyes locked with hers. I heard my mom say again, “Have you spoke to Brian or Karl? Are they together? Caelan, where is your sister?” Without taking my eyes off of her I quickly said in the phone, “Mom, tell dad we’re all okay and we’ll be home in a little bit. Yes, Brian, Karl, and Amilah are with me at my meeting.”     My mother said, “Well that’s a relief you are all safe and together, Victoria wants to speak with you dear, would you like me to pass her the phone? She’s standing here in front of me worried as well.” I almost snapped but the beautiful woman with her eyes locked with mine, calmed me down just with her stare. I quickly responded, “No mom, I don’t want to talk to Victoria. I’m busy. I have to go.” And ended the call still looking at my gorgeous mate in front of me.     I started to walk towards her and said.         “Everything okay? Did you need me for something?” she nodded her head no and I stopped a few feet in front of me snapping her out of her thoughts and she spoke.         “Wh..Who is Victoria?” stuttering with a hint of pain in her voice my face fell but I quickly looked up to her and softly said, “Nobody! What did you need?” she shook her head and I swear I saw tears forming in her eyes. Something was telling me she knew I had just told my first lie to her, I hated to lie to her, but Victoria was no longer someone important to me as she once was, especially after I heard how she treated my sister. I saw her blinked back her tears before she said, “I was coming to see if you wanted dessert. Mrs. Marie makes the best peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and I like to eat them with Vanilla Ice cream.” Then she looked down at the floor.     I gently grabbed her chin to look at me. I was pissed that Victoria caused this uncomfortable position between us already, but I locked my eyes with hers before saying, “Well I already had the best pot roast and potatoes, two for two can’t be a bad idea plus I love peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and Baby…Victoria really is nobody.” I grabbed her hand and placed a soft kiss on the back of it but didn’t let it go as we walked back in the dining room. We took our same seats and Mrs. Marie brought out the dessert.
