Chapter 10

1331 Words
Early in the morning, Arielle was angrily confronted by her boyfriend Tyron. She didn't need to ask why he was upset because she knew the reason. However, she still pretended not to know the reason for his reaction when he went to her house. "What's wrong, Tyron? Did something happen to you on your way to my house?" she innocently asked him. "Why did you give your position as CEO in your company to your lawyer? What went through your mind to do that?" Tyron asked angrily, his face flushed with anger. "Is that why you came here and shouted at me?" She looked at him seriously. "I am the owner of the company, so I have the right to temporarily pass that position to whoever I choose." Tyron suddenly changed his demeanor. The anger and dark expression on his face lessened. He smiled and approached her, attempting to hug her but she quickly avoided him. "I'm sorry if I raised my voice earlier, Love. I'm just worried. What if Mr. Sanchez doesn't want to return the position back to you?" Tyron said in a troubled tone. However, he knew that he was angry because she chose to entrust the management of the company to her lawyer instead of him, who is her boyfriend. "I trust Uncle Edgar. He will never betray me," she assured Tyron, who still looks disappointed about her decision. "How can you be so sure that he won't betray you, Arielle? If you wanted to take a break from managing the company, you should have left that position in the hands of someone close to you." "I said I trust Uncle Edgar. He wouldn't do what you're thinking. I think you could even deceive me more than he could." She intentionally said those words to see his reaction. "How could you say that to me, Arielle? I have been your boyfriend for many years, and yet you still don't trust me? You know how much I love you, and yet you're considering me like that?" Tyron sat on the couch with a sad expression, pretending to be upset with what she said. "Is that why you turned down my marriage proposal? Because you don't trust me, Arielle?" "Of course not!" she quickly replied. She approached Tyron and sat beside him. "You know the reason why I can't marry you right now, right? And I don't want you to struggle with managing my company, so I didn't leave the position to you. And besides, it won't take long and I'll be back working in the company again." "Why did you temporarily pass the CEO to your lawyer?" Tyron asked with a furrowed brow. "Secret. It's not the right time for you to know what I would do and why I want to take a break as the CEO of the company. But don't worry because what I'll do is for the benefit of all of us. And this is my surprise for you, so you shouldn't know about it yet." She gave Tyron a mysterious smile. In truth, the reason she temporarily replaced her Uncle Edgar as the CEO was that she wanted to focus on gathering evidence that would incriminate Tyron and Claire as the masterminds behind the death of her parents. "Will I be pleased with your surprise?" Tyron asked, anticipating. She gave her boyfriend a sweet smile after nodding repeatedly. "I'm sure you won't just be pleased, but you will also be surprised." "I'll be expecting that," Tyron replied. Tyron tried to persuade her again to reconsider taking back the CEO title from Edgar, but she remained firm, so he just left her house. The role Edgar plays isn't just that of a personal lawyer of her family, as he also served as an adviser to Arielle's father when he was still alive. That's why Edgar is well-known and respected by the employees in the company. No one objected to her when she announced that she would be temporarily replaced as the CEO by her lawyer. Everybody trusted him as much as she trusted him just like how her parents also trusted him. When Tyron left Arielle's house, she immediately followed him. She knew he was going to Claire's to discuss about her decision. She was certain that once her cousin learned of her decision, she would try to persuade her to change it just like what Tyron did earlier. Her suspicion that Tyron would go to Claire was right, as shortly after, Tyron's car was parked in front of her cousin's house. She parked her own car a few meters away from Claire's house to avoid being noticed by them. She quickly turned off the engine and hurriedly approached Claire's house. Claire greeted Tyron with a tight hug and a kiss. If she had witnessed such a scene before, it would have surely hurt her. But now, she doesn't even have an ounce of love left for Tyron, she only feels anger towards them. "Why are you frowning so early in the morning, Love? Did something unpleasant happen to ruin your day?" Claire remarked upon seeing Tyron's unmistakably distressed face. "Do you know what your stupid cousin did? She temporarily resigned as CEO and entrusted that position to Edgar instead of me!* Tyron informed Claire, who was surprised by what she heard. "What? Is she crazy? Why did she leave the company's management to someone else when you're right there?" Claire's eyes widened suddenly. "Could it be that she knows about our secret relationship that's why she didn't entrust the company to you?" Tyron quickly shook his head. "That's impossible. I'm sure she's still clueless about us being in a relationship. She just made a foolish decision and has too much trust in her lawyer, so she appointed him as the temporary CEO." "It seems it will take a while before we can access Arielle's wealth, Love. Why don't we just find a way to eliminate her completely from our path? Everyone knows you're her boyfriend, and I'm her only relative, so the rights to her wealth will go to either me or you when she passes away," Claire said with a devilish grin and excitement in her voice. "You're right, Love. I don't need to marry that woman to gain rights to her assets. We just need to silence her. But it has to look like an accident, just like what we did to her parents, so we won't be suspected by the police." From her hiding place, she could clearly hear the wicked plans against her by the two shameless persons. Her body almost trembled with intense anger in those moments. She wanted to come out from her hiding spot and slap and then scratch the two of them. But she restrained herself because she knew she didn't stand a chance against them. She might ended up dead if she had confronted them now. She left cautiously and distanced herself from the hiding place, then returned to her car. Inside the car, she let out the tears that flowed uncontrollably from her eyes. She felt incredibly heavy-hearted, not because she was betrayed by the people she loved and her life endangered by two people who used to be important to her, but because the truth about her parent's death had never been brought to justice. If she hadn't traveled back to the past, she wouldn't have known the truth about her parents' death. After crying for a few minutes, she wiped her tears forcefully. She needed to figure out a way to protect herself from the evil plans of Tyron and Claire. Suddenly, Gun came to her mind. He had a large body build that seemed sturdy from work or perhaps he frequented the gym, which explained his great physique and also made him look brave. He could pay him to temporarily become her bodyguard. But the question is, where could she find him? And would he agree to become her bodyguard?
