Chapter 1
Arielle was awakened by the loud knocking outside the door of her and Tyron's room. Lazily, she checked the time on the wall clock. It was only six in the morning. Who could it be between Cynthia and Lucy who was disturbing her? Even though she was sleepy, she was forced to get up from bed because she knew the mother and daughter. They wouldn't stop until she opened the door. As soon as she opened the door, a strong slap on the face from her sister-in-law greeted her. Her sleepiness suddenly flew away when she felt the sting of Lucy's palm on her cheek. "Why did you do that?" she asked tearfully while holding her hand to the part of her cheek that was hit by Lucy's slap. "You're still asking?" Lucy said with wide eyes. "It's already late, but you're still sleeping in your room. Mommy and I are hungry, so go cook our breakfast now," she ordered as if she were a servant in that house, even though she was the owner of the house and they were just staying there because of her husband, Lucy's older brother. She loves Tyron, so she agrees to let his mother and sister live in her house as well. She just thought of the saying "The more people, the merrier." But she didn't expect that it wasn't true. Because she didn't become happy when more of them lived in her house. Her in-laws did nothing but boss her around as if she were their servant. "I don't feel well, Lucy. Could you please just buy food outside?" she pleaded. "Don't give me drama, Arielle. It's your job to prepare food for us, so get moving!" she shouted at her. She knew that she didn't know how to cook, yet she still insisted on having her cook for them even though, in the end, they would be the ones cooking their food because they didn't like the taste of what she cooked. If it wasn't burnt, the food she cooked was raw. And if they didn't like it, they would make her finish all the food she cooked. Arielle truly felt unwell, so for the first time, she ignored what Lucy said and instead closed the door on her and walked back to bed to lie down again. She doesn't feel good because last night Lucy pushed her into the swimming pool. Lucy brought her friends over last night and even though it was late at night, she knocked on her room to cook food for them. Even though she was tired, she got up from bed and cooked food for them which, like before, they didn't like for many reasons, one of which was that they didn't like the taste because it was still raw. Lucy just ordered her to go out and take out food from a restaurant. When she returned, Lucy's friends were already having fun by the swimming pool. After serving the food and as she was about to go back inside the house to sleep again, Lucy suddenly pushed her into the swimming pool. So now when she woke up this morning with a bad feeling. Maybe her tired body was shocked by the cold water of the swimming pool last night. Arielle had not yet closed her eyes when there was another loud knocking from outside the room. Tyron was not at home today. He attended a one-week seminar in Baguio, so the two women boldly knocked loudly on the door because they knew they wouldn't disturb Tyron's sleep. "Open the door, Arielle! Get up and face us!" shouted Cynthia, Lucy and Tyron's mother. She was about to get up when the door opened, and Cynthia, looking like she was ready for battle, approached her and without warning pulled her hair and threw her onto the bed. "How dare you disobey my daughter's order! Is it because Tyron isn't here? Do you think you can handle us because he's not around?" she angrily scolded her. "That's not true, Mommy. I really don't feel good right now. Besides, you don't eat what I cook anyway, so it's better if you just buy food from outside so the food here at home won't go to waste," she replied weakly to her mother-in-law while her hands were holding onto her hand that was still pulling her hair. "And who told you that the food here is going to waste? Aren't you the one eating and finishing everything you cooked?" Lucy said in a teasing tone, she was smiling as if pleased that her mother was hurting her. "Remember why my son married you, Arielle. He married you so you could serve us. You should be thankful that my son married you even though you have nothing to boast about except your wealth. If he hadn't married you, you would be alone in this house now!" Arielle could only cry upon hearing Lucy's words. She couldn't count how many times she had heard those words from her mother-in-law's lips, but she didn't believe her. She knew Tyron loved her. That's the reason why he married her. Her husband was different from his mother and sister. Tyron was a loving and sweet husband. So no matter what his mother said about the reason he married her, she wouldn't believe it until she heard from his lips that what his mother said was true. "What are you crying about there, Arielle? Get up and cook breakfast. Surely you know how to properly cook simple fried hotdogs and eggs," Lucy said with a sneer. Even though Arielle was feeling unwell, she was forced to leave the room to cook breakfast for her mother and sister-in-law. She just thought that she was doing it for her husband who treated her kindly. But what Arielle never thought that her kind husband had a hidden secret that she discovered a few days after he returned from seminar. And above all, she never thought he would be capable of killing her.
