ARIANA MORIGAN
As soon as I left the boutique, I felt I didn’t want to walk anymore. Sylas noticed that and turned to me.
“Are you sick?”
“That doesn’t feel right!” I said in dissatisfaction. “Why did you treat her so rudely? She was just working and doing her job.”
Sylas lowered his face to me. Both of his hands were tucked into his pockets. He was still wearing his gym clothes and running shoes.
“What do you mean you pity her? Weren’t you angry when she insulted you? I just treated her the way she treated everyone else.”
“But,” I stammered. “Where did you get the money to buy that expensive dress? It cost almost 50 million. That’s a lot of money. Are you trying to trick me by making me pay the bill?”
Sylas grinned at me. “Don’t worry, I already paid for it. I saw that you liked the dress. You kept staring at it. So why didn’t you buy it? As for the money, you don’t need to know. You just need to wear that dress. The clothes you are wearing now look old and shabby. Shouldn’t you, as a Luna from the Morigan family, look much more decent than this?”
I looked down at the clothes I was wearing. There was nothing wrong with them. They were clean and neat, although the style was outdated. The colour was still good. Although they were old, they were still suitable for me to wear.
Before I could give an argument, Sylas had already stopped a taxi. He also opened the door for me.
What else? Did he think he would go home by taxi? How much would it cost me to go back to the countryside by taxi? Even though using the bus was much more economical.
“Don’t you like taxis? Should I rent you a private car?” he asked as I froze.
I was even more confused by Sylas’ attitude. Was this his lifestyle all this time? Even though he was just a poor man.
“Are you crazy?” I closed the taxi door again and apologized to the driver. “Sorry, sir, we won’t be getting on.”
The taxi driver left, grumbling. We were still standing on the side of the busy road. Sylas raised both hands to ask for my explanation.
“Let’s just take the bus,” I said. “The view is better. The distance from here to your house is also quite far. If you take a taxi, it’s quite expensive.”
Then I went to the nearest bus stop. I didn’t care whether Sylas wanted to come or not. Apparently, he still followed me without making a sound.
When the bus arrived, I chose the back seat, and Sylas decided to sit next to me. It did feel a bit awkward because I had never had a man who was always near me.
Sylas whispered to me, “Riding the bus is fun. Especially when I’m with you. It really feels like a married couple.”
I blushed and quickly turned my face away from the window. Why did Sylas’ attitude change drastically? Last night, he looked so disgusted and hated me. Now, he’s charming and even tends to keep teasing me.
Remember Ariana, she’s just a criminal and a cheater! I repeated to myself.
“Elara, why are you so frugal with money? I’m sure you can afford anything including a vehicle, right? Or maybe... You're not willing to spend money because you married me? Do you think I married you because I wanted your money?” Sylas asked suddenly.
I cleared my throat. All the passengers on the bus looked at us.
“I told you that the Morigan family’s success was shaped since we were little. Even though we have wealth and all the facilities, our father trained us to live frugally and value money.”
“That doesn’t make sense,” Sylas muttered. “Unless you’re not actually Elara Morigan.”
I pretended not to hear. I was afraid that my lie would be exposed.
When we got home, we had dinner with a simple meal I had prepared. I didn’t feel like eating. I saw Sylas devouring my cooking and felt a little satisfaction in my heart.
“Sylas,” I said carefully.
“Why? Do you need something?” he asked while continuing to chew.
“Tonight, I have to go back to Fenrir pack to visit my Dad. After all, we haven’t seen each other since we got married. Dad is sick and didn’t have the chance to attend my wedding.”
“I can’t accompany you!” he replied.
“It’s okay!” I replied quickly. “I don’t want to bother you either. Besides…”
“Your family definitely won’t like me anyway, right? I know that. Okay, you can go. Before that, get something for me. There’s a small box in the wardrobe. Bring it here!”
I followed all his words. I went to his room and took a wooden box from the wardrobe. I didn’t know what was in it. I went out and handed the box to Sylas.
He opened the box in front of me. I thought it contained a weapon that he would use to threaten me. Inside was a beautiful pitch-black ring. However, the model looked so old-fashioned.
“We got married, but I couldn’t give you a proper wedding party. And this is the only asset I have. This heirloom ring was passed down from generation to generation in my mother’s family. And now I give it to you.”
I was surprised by him again. How could he be so rude, cold, and gentle simultaneously? He was so suspicious.
I also almost couldn’t believe Sylas’ words. Seeing the ring, I became doubtful. He could have gotten the ring from robbery or theft. How could someone as poor as Sylas, even an ex-convict who was said to have killed someone, inherit such a beautiful thing.
“I’m sorry, I can’t accept it. You said this was the only valuable thing you inherited from your mother. I don’t deserve it.”
Sylas’ face suddenly turned cold. His tone hardened. “I don’t want any rejection. When I give you something, you have to accept it!”
I shrank back in fear. I didn’t want to make him angrier and maybe make things difficult for me. I accepted the ring. Even if this ring was a family heirloom, it was fake and cheap. I didn’t expect much. But, I kept it well.

ALDERON FEROX
We had just finished dinner. Ariana was washing dishes in the kitchen. I walked to the porch and called Cassian.
“Ariana will visit Fenrir pack tonight. Send someone to watch her and report anything you find to me. I’m sure Ariana returned to her pack to report the results of her spying on me.”
Although Ariana is only an illegitimate child of the Morigan family, she is willing to replace Elara and marry Sylas. I’m sure there was an agreement between them. So, I can assume that Ariana is also involved in the mystery of Sylas’ disappearance. I have to keep my eyes on them.
