ARIANA MORIGAN
Early in the morning, I woke up and packed my wedding dress into a bag. I left the room slowly so as not to make any noise. The atmosphere of this old house was so quiet that I thought Sylas was still sleeping in his room.
He suddenly stood before me when I opened the door and was about to leave the house. He made me jump in surprise.
“I hope you're not planning to run away,” he said coldly. His body was covered in sweat. Had he just jogged?
“No, of course not. How could I run away?” I hid the bag containing the wedding dress behind my back. I didn’t want him to see it.
“Then where are you going this early in the morning?” He stretched out one hand to the door and stopped me. I could only lower my head in fear.
“I want to go to the boutique to return the wedding dress I wore last night.”
I glanced at him briefly. He seemed to frown.
“What do you mean by returning the dress?”
“That... Actually, I just rented that dress from the boutique. So I have to return it.”
Sylas stared in disbelief. “You rented a dress from a boutique for our wedding? How is that possible? Haha... Aren’t you Luna and the heiress of the Morigan group? You have billions in assets but only rented for a wedding dress? Does that make sense? You must be just making excuses. Where are you actually going?”
I was so nervous and panicked. Of course, he wouldn’t believe me. Why should I be honest with him? Our wedding was just a show.
Of course, he would be suspicious if I said I rented this wedding dress, even though I didn’t have the money to buy it. I married him without a single penny of dowry from my family. I was just a stepdaughter not considered part of the Morigan family. I wasn’t Elara Morigan.
“Dad always taught us to practice in hardship. Those billions in assets... Ah, whatever, why should I explain to you?” I said curtly and walked away from him.
I pretended to be strong before him, but my legs shook severely. If I said the wrong thing and offended him, he could kill me. I hope he can accept the reason I gave.
“Hey, wait, don’t go yet!” Sylas snapped.
But I kept walking and getting faster. When I looked back, Sylas wasn’t following me. It seemed like he was answering a call from someone. A chance for me to leave.

My phone rang just as I was about to stop Elara. I couldn’t ignore this call. Cassian must have brought important news for me.
“Hello? What’s up? Did you find anything?”
“I’ve investigated the Morigan family as you requested. It turns out that Sylas never came to the Morigan family’s house. But, there’s something suspicious. If they don’t know each other, that’s not right either. According to the information I got, Sylas and Mrs. Morigan had met three years ago right before Sylas went to prison.”
“So the marriage contract was real?”
“Well, the contract was real. And Sylas was promised to marry the daughter of the Morigan family. Elara Morigan.”
“What do you think made Sylas disappear on his wedding day?” After he was released from prison, he should have been able to marry Elara Morigan. Was Sylas not wanting this marriage?” I asked while thinking. What made my twin brother run away.
“I don’t think so,” Cassian answered casually. “On the contrary. In my opinion, Sylas was the one who wanted the marriage, but not the Morigan family.”
“What do you mean, Cassian?”
“You will surely be interested in hearing other information I have obtained,” he chirped.
“Say it quickly and don’t beat around the bush! I am not a patient person.”
“The girl you married is not the legitimate daughter of the Morigan family. She is not Elara Morigan as written in the contract. The girl who married you last night was just an illegitimate child of Alpha Talon Morigan. The child of her affair with an omega whose identity is unknown. The woman you married is named Ariana Morigan.”
I immediately grinned. “This is getting interesting. I have to find out more. What is their relationship with Sylas? And where did my brother disappear to?”

ARIANA MORIGAN
I had arrived at the boutique where I rented the wedding dress. Nervously, I opened the door and went inside. A saleswoman greeted me.
“Miss, I want to return the dress I rented. I’ve washed it thoroughly.”
The saleswoman checked the dress I returned, and she started to sneer. “How did you wash it? Look, this dress is damaged. It’s not like the one we rented you. Did you replace it with a worse one?”
I was at a loss for words. Sylas’ house was in a very remote village. Access to it was complicated, and the road was muddy. Even though I had washed my wedding dress thoroughly, it got a little splashed with mud.
“You can’t even afford to buy a wedding dress, how can you get married?” the saleswoman insulted. “We can’t accept this dress. You have to compensate.”
“But…” I started to panic. Where would I get the money to compensate for the loss?
Someone stood behind me. I didn’t even realize when he was there. He hugged my shoulders protectively.
“Can’t get married?” he said coldly. “Is it because you can’t afford a wedding dress that you’re not allowed to get married?” The man growled.
I turned around and was shocked to find Sylas already beside me. I tried to calm him down. I didn’t want the problem to get more complicated.
“But, she has damaged the wedding dress she rented from us. So she has to compensate for the damage by buying one.”
Sylas arrogantly looked around the boutique. “How dare you insult my wife? This boutique is just a small, unknown shop. The items you sell are also of no quality at all. You want to cheat my wife? This is just a cheap wedding dress!”
“Sir!” the saleswoman said curtly. “So you’re her husband? If you can’t afford it, you better not insult our shop. You poor person! As a husband, you can’t even afford to buy a decent wedding dress for your wife, and now you come just to avoid responsibility?”
“Enough, Miss. You were the one who insulted my wife first. How dare you call us poor? I can even buy all the goods and the boutique at once.”
I was so panicked. Why did Sylas keep talking nonsense? Wouldn’t that only make our current situation more complicated?
Sylas took a card from his wallet and threw it at the saleswoman. She caught the falling card and kneeled before us to pick it up. She tried to check the authenticity of the card and was shocked. Suddenly, her attitude changed from very rude to very polite in front of us.
“I’m sorry, Sir. I was rude and misunderstood. We will serve you as best we can. You don’t need to change this dress.”
“No, I will still pay for it, even 10 times the price you gave. Also, give my wife the most expensive dress you have right now!”
The saleswoman looked so nervous that she kept bowing to us. “We have a dress designed by a famous designer. But, we need to know your body measurements to know the right dress for you.”
“Then measure my wife’s body.”
“But, that can only be done by the designer.”
“I want you to do it!”
The saleswoman immediately took out a measuring tool. She started to measure my body.
Sylas stopped her. “How can you measure well, if you are standing? Get down on your knees quickly!”
She didn’t even argue. She carried out all of Sylas’ orders. Now, I was the one who was shivering. Who was Sylas, really? Was he the leader of a gangster? How much dominance and influence did he have over others. There was something hidden inside him that I didn’t know what it was that made everyone afraid.
Now, I was the one who was flabbergasted. What exactly was the card he gave the saleswoman? How could a single card change everything? Then where did Sylas get the money to pay for the dress?
Wait, this bastard, did he intend to charge me the entire bill? He was clearly a poor man and even unemployed. Then how was I supposed to pay for all these items?
