Chapter Five
There is a reason why I can see through you.
Third Person’s Point of View
“I need this dish to be served well.”
Rollia let the servers take a couple of turns as she had a taste of the food. People were swarming to her room like bees, all because she needed way too much than they would usually serve. It was lunch, and as much as she wanted to have some time with Blayze, the man has some important meeting that he needed to accomplish.
He left the room by stating that everything that Rollia wants needed to be appeased.
Which is what she wanted to achieve.
“No, that would not do,” Rollia grimaced, biting back the snarl that she wanted to express as she offered the food back. There were enough instructions that she had given them, but none were acting in the right manner. With her soft voice, she uttered. “Could you try this again for another time? It is not good enough for me.”
Everyone paused, but nobody has the nerve to say anything to her. She is the Queen of the Werewolves, and they were merely the servers. Every staff was used to the serene nature of the Queen Mother that they had long forgotten that most Queen Lunas are naturally ill-mannered. They had won the crown through strength and manipulation.
They only assumed that Rollia would be different.
Carissa, the poor chef, only replied with an enthusiastic smile. “I humbly ask for your apology. The meal will be delivered in a matter of minutes.”
This was fun.
Rollia was clearly getting high from all of the power that she has over people. Remembering her time when people would laugh whenever she would announce that she would be the future Queen, people would ridicule and laugh at her. She hated that all of these werewolves sees her as something so little.
Now, who is laughing?
None of her peers has the power to walk in these palace walls nor personally command all the palace staff. The werewolves that worked inside the palace always had a reputation, and while none of them were boastful enough to their rank, people envy them from time to time.
Rollia would soon have that power.
From the second that she was publically announced as his fiancée, nothing can go beyond and around her ways. No matter what she has to do, she will become Queen. Blayze Hawthrone would be hers, whether by hook or by crook.
“I really liked this one. Good job!” She cheered, clearly belittling the female staff. As the worried woman finally smiled at her, she felt a part of her bloom from the inside. She had always wanted people to be affected by her mood. Now, this chef seemed elated that Rollia liked the dish.
Of course, she had thought wrong. Blayze only gets strict whenever an important guest would show up. The King might not terminate her from the second she had served this woman wrong, but the head maid would probably recommend someone that Rollia would like. She could lose her job if she did not satisfy Rollia.
The chef rarely cared about this woman's emotions.
Only the chef’s reaction was in that term only because she knew that she would not get fired for serving her a couple of food services that were perfectly fine.
“Am I allowed to be outside the palace?” She asked the man behind her. It was a knight, someone who she did not know. While she wanted to know more about this man, she was sure about their rules.
The man shook his head, his rough voice answering. “The King did not say anything.”
What if she visited those proud faces of the other female knights who laughed at her face? Maybe it would improve her mood. Then again, having her say those words does not seem too promising in her way. She wanted Blayze to take care of them properly. Rollia could never play nice for too long.
She needed to take some trash out and fast.
.
.
"How did that evil snake get there?"
Rush continued on flipping books, wanting to learn more about her abilities. The female she had seen had long flowing blonde hair and an innocent and pure face. Rollia is clearly someone who does not mind running around and creating a mess.
Yet, that woman from her vision seems like she could not even break the glass.
“Your Highness,” she heard one of her attendants called her attention. “You are needed in the banquet hall. I will assist you there.”
“Thank you, Jessa.” Rush smiled, closing the thick book that rests on the table as she walked along with her attendants.
Despite her lack of appearance in public, she is a true Princess inside these halls. If Blayze had acknowledged her presence, not a single soul could say anything. People might overlook her power, but Blayze did not want to be too lacking in her security.
“What is happening there?” She asked, noticing that a gather of people is running around in one of the rooms. There were servers from different departments, so she was a bit confused. “Did my brother received any foreign guests?”
Jessa sighed, shaking her head. “No, Princess. That would be the woman that the King had bought and provided a room in this palace. She had been creating such a ruckus while the Alpha King is not present.”
She really is a b***h.
If her mother did not even bother to teach her proper manners, Rush could very much be aware that the Queen Mother felt something off about this woman. She was sure that this is a type of situation where she did not need to interfere, but her feet had taken her to the hallway. All the servers who had seen her bowed in her presence.
“I have told you numerous times that this is not how I liked it.” Rollia bites back. While her voice and tone were soft, everyone present knew that she was reprimanding a staff.
That is not how a royal should react.
Blayze did not even call a priest when she was injured, so Rollia is nowhere blessed to be in this place. Now this disgrace is already strutting around the palace, acting as she owns it. Her presence is already making a tone with the servants while Blayze was still figuring out what he needed to do with the information that he has a mate.
There was still no announcement of her position.
So why is she acting so smug?
Rush remembered her need to understand what happened. How could this woman be in the same space that the Queen should be? What strings has she pulled, and how come rush did not see anything change in her visions? There were a lot of things that she has to know, but no book provided any answers.
She needed her birth mother.
As Rollia raised her hand, Rush did not hesitate to interfere. “Do not tell me that you plan on inflicting abuse towards the palace staff?”
Rollia paused, her hands automatically coming back down from the second she saw Rush. The Princess has black hair and black eyes, an orphan that the Royal Family adopted. She would have scoffed if she was not playing nice. This woman does not have the same authority as her.
Jessa scowled at the woman. “What are you doing? Bow to the Princess.”
“W-what?” Rollia asked, confused. “But, I am-” her words had paused from the second that the knight had tugged her dress, alerting her that she should not openly say things in that manner.
Rush tilted her head to the side, showing her power in the palace. “My brother still has not placed anything in your name. Do not go around the palace acting like you own the palace.”
It also speaks suspiciously of how Blayze was willing to let her ruin everything. For all she knows, it seemed like everyone was setting Rollia for failure. If that seems to be the case, she wanted to give some push.
“Show some courtesy,” Rush muttered, pointing to the floor. “Now.”
Biting her words, Rollia followed without a demand. Rush was right. She still has no authority. People are only swarming to her care since Blayze had personally set them to. She needed to calm down. “Sorry-”
“Again.” Rush muttered, her voice firm. “You are not talking to a friend. I am above you.”
Rollia was livid by her tone. Rush is nothing but an orphan who was given a spot in the palace; why is she dictating her of what she should and should not do?
“I humbly ask for your apology, your highness,” Rollia repeated the words, biting back the anger that was seething inside of her. “The King had advised me to tell them how I wanted things to be eaten. I am sorry if I have troubled everyone.”
How can she blindly pick food without so much of a bother after everything that happened last night? All squires who were present had trouble sleeping from seeing all blood scattered on the floor and the dismembered body of two humans. She was supposed to be the daughter of those two people, and here she was- picking what food to eat.
Rush always knew this, but she could not believe she could see it in actuality. Rollia is real stupid.
“For someone whose whole family died only last night, you sure are having a feast in this dining hall. You even have the appetite for telling them the way you wanted things done?” She asked, her tone well-spoken and proper.
Rollia freeze at that words, not remembering that she should be traumatized for having her whole family dead, not having the time of her life. She was having too much fun having to be in control that she had shrugged off that her family just died.
Everyone was fighting the urge to gossip as Rush’s words rang true.
Not a single ounce of empathy was printed into Rollia’s face.
“I am simply trying to appease my hunger, your highness. My humble apologies for such reckless behavior.”
Not a single soul present there believed her. A sane woman would reject any means of food and grieve about the death of her parents. Werewolves are attached to their parents, so it was a growing suspicion towards this woman.
She is acting quite unusual for her situation.
Walking towards the woman, she all but lean in and whispered, “If I were you, I would not let others see how easy you are lying through your teeth. For who knows what Blayze would do to you from the second he realized that you’re sprawling lies?”
Rollia grimaced, controlling not to shudder in fear. “I do not understand, Your Highness.”
There was a sly smile printed on the Princess's lips as she replied. “Do not assume that you can continue conning my brother for long.”
Rush walked out of the door with people trailing beside her. Despite the fear that creeps inside Rollia, she could not say anything with a number of people looking at her. The Princess is getting some nerve all because she knew that Blayze would protect her.
That woman could ruin everything that Rollia had worked hard for.
If Rollia wanted to keep her crown, she needed Blayze to lose his trust in that orphan.
But how will she do that? How could she tamper with their relationship?
